Fantagraphics is the best publisher in comics! Can't wait to get my hands on some of these. Especially Squeak the Mouse!

It's great that Fanta is providing you with review copies! This is the one channel that united all blends of comics - kudos to you, Omar!

I'd definitely second that Squeak the mouse needs matte paper... so I would rather recommend to get a copy of the spanish version by fulgenciopimentel aka FP that's out there for years - it's smaller in size but has really lush paper and it's a beauty (probably similar to an Italian one that's floating around as well). Since it's basically a silent comic no translation is necessary.

I loved all Gipi's books I read including post apocalyptic Land of the Sons, One Story and Aldobrando. All got many awards in Europe.

I have one of the Squeak The Mouse books from the 90s (from a friend's older brother) and that shit is nuts. I will be picking that up for sure.

Greetings Omar it’s good to see you review differentiated materials, specially European authors - wish you could do this more often. Too bad you didn’t gave a background story to Gipi’s work. His work is marvelous and, sadly, only partially available in English. As for Matiolli, his work have been previously available in English throug NBM or Catalan.

Squeak the Mouse is one of my all time highlights. I got a german HC for the first & a english NBM SC for the second, both early 90's. I have to buy the new edition.

I’ve been really into Simon Hanselmann’s Megg & Mogg books from Fantagraphics lately. I didn’t love the art at first which is probably why I have avoided them for years but I finally bought the first volume, Megahex, and ended up loving it and now the art has grown on me and I love it too now. It’s completely hilarious and so many of the things that happen are totally just wrong. After Megahex comes Megg & Mogg in Amsterdam and One More Year which are very similar to Megahex. After those comes Bad Gateway which is the volume I’m on now and it has changed a little bit and is a little more serious with themes of anxiety and depression and the characters drug use seems to be getting out of control although it can still be very funny at times. I haven’t read Seeds and Stems or Crisis Zone yet but am really looking forward to it. A new volume, Below Ambition, is coming later this year and I will be getting it as well. It’s been a while since I found something this satisfying and makes me keep coming back in comics. I’m trying to think of an equivalent experience and the closest thing I can think of is Achewood.

Been away from this channel/YT for a while and as far as I can tell, this is the first Fantagraphics highlight? Weird to think. Seems like something that should've always been on this channel. Hopefully this is a mainstay for the time being. Glad you're reading and covering a variety of content.

Omar have you checked out the Kickstarter “a tigers tale” it’s basic description is jungle book (so talking, human like animals) meets kung fu

"The Forest", are those prints made by woodcuts? Makes me think a bit of Frans Masereel, Albrecht Dürer, Gustave Doré, etc...

How have you gone sorting out that strike against the channel due to a manga misunderstanding?
