The problem for me is Jessica Alba...she is INSANELY gorgeous and Sue Storm is, and always has been, plain Jane. More of a "basic" Jennifer Anniston type. The minute I heard she was cast for this back in the day I knew the movie wouldn't work...

Human torch could never catch up with the silver surfer in terms of speed. Silver server can cross an entire galaxy from one end to another in a millisecond.

In a word, Galactus, I know it'd be kinda cheesy to just have a giant dude but better than the cloud we got. Aside from that I like these movies too, just a shame about Galactus

Because those who remember when the Silver Surfer first came to Earth scouting for a planet for Galacutus were a bit put off by the fact that Galactus was - in the movie - a big cloud. He's an actual Entity and certainly could not be destroyed by the Silver Surfer, to whom Galactus granted him powers. The movie might have been entertaining, but it was just was not well-written or coherent.

Only two things that I can think of and I don't agree with either, one Galactus was a cloud and I argue that this was his machine eating but people think otherwise and two people didn't like Jessica Alba in the role cause Sue Storm is just a damsel in distress/barbie doll instead of a scientist like the rest are. I think the character is fine but the plot for her is jealousy until the Silver Surfer touch down and people hated the actress cause they said Sue is white and Alba can't act, this was the talk of the time not my words. I always loved this movie and was shocked that it bombed or wasn't well received especially compared to the first one, this felt like an actual step forward and especially on the Dr Doom role. He literally steals his powers right from the Surfer by using his own intellect and isn't just mad because of his face and his girl getting married to his enemy. Now I don't care about Galactus being destroyed by the Surfer cause I always assumed that the next movie would've had that fight between them, I don't read the comics I just watch and absorb what's presented in front of me on the screen and to me it was a good film, not a perfect film but a good one and clearly a two parter cause at the end the movie just wrapped up just like the first film.

Although the Thing looked slightly better. He needs to be big.... Torch was way better in this version (complaining when he need to burn his suit fun stuff). The Invisible Woman isn't impressive in either one (original vs reboot).

I remember seeing this in the theaters. Started off strong, but since they messed up Doctor Doom so badly and then Galactus, the move went sideways real fast (and they got Silver Surfers powers all screwed up). Unfortunately.

Surfer is my favorite Marvel character. Been this way ever since I was a kid in the 90's. I wish it was him instead of Captain Marvel in Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. I still think they could do a Galactus and Silver Surfer movie. The origin story. That would be so sick. It's probably the only one that would put me back iin a movie theater seat.

The Surfer WAS in the actual Infinity series comic book. Which did not, incidentally, include the Avengers. It DID include Adam Warlock and many Celestial-level entities. The Avengers could not, in the comic book, must the power to defeat the wielder of all 6 Infinity Stones. The only being who was more powerful in there was The Living Tribunal, who could restore reality with a snap of his fingers. And since Marvel completely changed the storyline, it was the (human)Avengers and other humans instead of Galactus, Eternity, The Stranger and the Celestials themselves. So, for the person who commented that they like super-powered beings' powers being "watered down," they actually got their wish. A group of humans vs. the power of the Infinity Stones. The only Avenger actually in the original Infinity Saga (a series of three different storylines: The Infinity Gauntlet (which Marvel re-wrote as the "Infinity War/Endgame"), the Magus, and The Goddess). So if Marvel had done the movie like the comic books, you would have seen the Silver Surfer and Thor (and Dr. Strange), but none of the other Avengers, who were not part of The Saga (1991, 1992, 1993).

The Thing making fun of Johnny’s encounter with the Silver surfer makes no sense. He’s literally a giant rock man talking to a guy who can fully engulf himself in fire, the other members of the team are an invisible girl and a rubber man, what’s so inconceivable about a silver dude on a board.

They have a big and little brother relationship. Johnny's the boy who cries wolf by his nature alone... always doing wild stuff. It's meant to show Johnny's serious face briefly. This is taken into account by the smartest person in the room, and other smartest guy on the planet across from Victor. Who dubs the encounter, the Silver Surfer. Having realized that Johnny was dead serious, and wouldn't admit to a proper ass beating if it wasn't.

The issue with depicting every super hero/superhero team as a microcosm (vs the macrocosm they supposedly exist within) is that their worlds always, literally appear to hang by a thread and demand their constant vigilance, rather than allowing them to (for once) turn off their pagers/cell phones/whatever, and relax..

As good as the SS cgi was, this scene kinda blows, 1. jessica Alba made to look like a white woman, 2. her force field really weak and in one spot, 3. the SS going through the building but the guy inside looks like he was pulled back forcibly, 4. SS buzzing the street below with people and cars and only the cars sent flying and not the people who weigh less than cars? Yeah pretty terrible but hey 🙂

How are super heroes and their flat stories so attractive to people on such a big scale? I really do not understand the success these movie have and wish for the 90s and 80s movies to come back. While Batman is somewhat watchable, anything from Spiderman to X-Men or whatever else was written 50 years ago is just complete braindead content. When will this superhero era finally end? Are people not tired of it?
