See what Tulsa looked like in the 1960s in beautifully enhanced film. This video gives you an idea what was going on in the Oklahoma town in the middle 1960s. You'll see aerials of the downtown area, the Public Service Company of Oklahoma electric power plant, Skelly Stadium, 4th National Bank Building, billboards for KOTV, Longfellow and Book T Washington schools, the Brady Theater, the construction of the International Petroleum Building on the Fairgrounds. Also shown is a protest in front of Safeway over high food prices.

Booker T. Grad here. My father worked downtown and occasionally we would eat lunch together in some of the vanished places. There is a fun book on restaurants in Tulsa that are gone.

I was only in Tulsa once: it was 1968, I was 13 and on a bus trip from St. Louis to New Mexico to go to Boy Scout camp. I remember 2 things about driving through downtown. How attractive many of the women were and how many men were wearing white shoes. We had dinner a local cafeteria, thirsty, I took a large swig of butter milk thinking it was regular milk...I never made that mistake again.

I moved from Tulsa in 1968 at age 7. Love looking at vintage films of cities in the 60's and 70's. The thing I notice is is how thin everyone looks. Also a lot less traffic. Just generally, a better quality of life I think.

This is excellent. I love how everyone was dressed nice and presentable, even the high school students. What happened to that? Now we all look homeless. I worked in what is now Boulder Towers at 18th & Boulder for almost two decades. It was interesting to see it prior to the second tower being added. Thanks for this. Subscribed.
