Fluffy Kitty He has 22k subs with one video from two years ago. Maybe being a comment section legend is the long game to get subs without making videos.
This really shouldn’t have been marketed as a horror movie. It’s not scary whatsoever. It had the potential to be scary. The idea of fantasies backfiring had potential, but the twists in this movie are so ridiculous you are more inclined to laugh than shudder in fear.
If I remember correctly the original pilot tv movie was a little dark. The vingnettes were be careful what you wish for cautionary tales. Things go wrong for some of the characters and some get attack by jungle animals. The tv series had an episode about ventriloquist dummy that came to life and turned evil.
This movie didn't have Thursday night showings This movie didn't have critic screenings It's from the writer and Director of Truth or Dare As reviews came in today, the score was lower than The Turning, Grudge (2020), Dolittle and Cats... Shocked its not Dogshit lmao
Which final twist. The one where its Tattoo's origin story was cool. The one where the bullied girl ends up having a much larger fantasy was not. We saw her being concerned about the torture when there was no-one to play to. I'm not buying the "I have a video to prove I thought it was fake" bull. She was talking about how real the hologram looked before the camera was turned on. I think it was a last minute rewrite to a much better but possibly predictable ending.
I like Blumhouse, but the films they’ve been making have been mixed bags, like I love what they’re doing with the Halloween movies, then they come out with bs like Fantasy Island, but I love they’re recent film The Invisible Man Blumhouse is so tough man 😂
Ricardo Montalban was on Fantasy Island was awesome with his "little friend" Tattoo! When Wrath of Khan came out i half wanted Tattoo to be part of the crew of the Botany Bay! Lmao
I used to love watching the old tv shows and I was curious about this movie and everything you said is basically what I thought this movie would be but I'm still pretty curious.
Jeremy! Please review of The Haunting of Hill House season 1. Season 2 will be coming out this year. Its my favorite show show and youre my favorite reviewer! Please? 😄
Hey Jeremy! My name is Corey and I've been a fan since your 2014 best of list. I am currently in (the Quebec version of) high school but want to pursue a career in film. I just made my first short film and would love to hear you feedback! Thank you!
I just watched it. It is definitely different than portrayed in the trailer. But that being said, I did have a hunch going in that it would be more like the TV series. They did have a couple gay twists that I didn't care for but they weren't over the top with that stuff. I also didn't care for the last plot twist which didn't really sit well. Luckily the gay guy calls them on it in a one liner so at least they can admit to it being absurd.
@@legends3ud Oops I didn't notice that. Thankfully it didn't get too crazy though. I did think for a moment if it got too nasty I might have to walk out. lol
Jeremy: This really plays out like "I know what you did last summer", its like "I know what you did on the island last summer". Me: soooo.......I Still Know What You Did Last Summer?
3,771 views in 7 minutes! Jeremy you gotta love that. Jeremy, you are by far my favourite RU-vid movie reviewer and I'm so happy you can get so many views in such a short amount of time. Sorry I'm not trying to suck up, but I suffer depression and your videos always cheer me up and I just want to show some gratitude. Thank you, hope you have a fantastic day.
Honestly, I walked into this movie completely blind not knowing anything about the trailers or the original fantasy island, and it felt like an action adventure movie with horror elements. It wasn’t the greatest movie, but I was able to enjoy myself
You know Jeremy your videos are so good that you inspired me to be a RU-vid Movie Critic. I already loved movies and drove people crazy with how much I talked about movies, so it’s the perfect outlet so thank you Jeremy Jahns!
Mr Roarke was one of my childhood heroes, along with Mr Spock, Evel Knievel, Nixon and The Fonz. I mean, Mr Roarke was willing to put his soul on the line against the Devil to save woman and her child. Now, that's a hero.
I didn't even know this movie was coming out until yesterday. My friend told, he went to see it, he said he got bored and ended up seeing Sonic instead🤦♀️😅
@@ralphjackson2518 Would you kindly is in Bioshock 1. One and two had good stories, Infinite is just a shooter. Still good, but not as good as 1 & 2... imo.
I didn’t even like Insidious 2 tbh. I liked the first one, the third one and the last one was okay but the second movie was the worst for me. As for Get Out, it’s genuinely an incredible film and I’m shocked that blumhouse had anything remotely to do with it.
I totally get his Michael Pena description... I immediately see him the cop from End Of Watch. Which he aced. Brilliant thought that island leader should have an other- worldly air about him.
Seriously loved the cool "What you're all thinking" shot at the end. I love love love this channel. Always a great time. Whether the movie is good or bad is irrelevant. I, am entertained by the rantings of JJ. Plus I also loved how JJ had been switching things up recently like in the sonic video. Give this man a blockbuster cameo STAT!!!
When the original tv show debuted, the trailers made us think it was gonna be like what this movie turned out to be, but to our pleasant surprise it turned out to be the icon we loved! That is all!
"Da plaaane! Da plaaane!" Yep watched the original series back in the day. The way Mr. Roark smiled when they would do the toast let you know from the get go things were not going to go as the guests expected.
Michael Pena’s vibe is ‘Hey let’s go grab a beer!’ 😂😂 So spot on. Thought it was a bad idea when I first read they were gonna change this into a whodunnit slasher but was hoping maybe they could find something new out of this whole enterprise. Alas now...
"This movie is like Island I Know What You Did Last Summer" you mean I Still Know What You Did Last Summer? Where there on the resort? Jack Black is in it... It's not great.
I used to watch the original Fantasy Island and Love Boat with my grandmother and cousins. My cousin and I would always yell, "The plane! The plane!" sometimes randomly but mostly when her mom or my grandfather was coming into the driveway. We were weird kids. I barely remember the 90s version. Going to have to revisit it.
Dude to be 100% honest, I dont even care about the movie, didnt even knew this was a remake lol I just enjoy you making fun and giving your opinion about movies thats all lol.
I really liked the movie and thought the twists and turns were fun. I'm too squeamish for proper horror so this was a good 'baby step' for me while getting to enjoy some mystery/adventure/character pieces.
Watched the Ricardo Montalban series as a teen and loved it. Saw the trailer for this movie on Monday. Thought it might be intriguing. Thank you Jeremy for saving me from wasting a couple hours of my life seeing it.
Hooray! Mr Jahns has seen the Malcom McDowell season of Fantasy Island. I was afraid I'd be among the few that did. The fact that McDowell's version was a tad creepy is the reason why I decided to give the Blumhouse film a chance. :-D
That beginning had me worried this would be another ‘Slender Man’ case lol! But you hit the nail on the head. Decent setup but the second half ruined any momentum the movie built up.
I'm 2 minutes and 10 seconds in. I agree with you. The moment I saw his face I was happy to see him because I like this actor, but it doesn't feel right to have Michael Pena in this role. I did not know about the McDowell reboot, but McDowell's casting makes sense.
My mom watched the OG series as a kid and when I told her about this movie, she asked, “Is Tattoo in it?” I said no and she got so mad because she loved Tattoo that much.
Love this studio. They always have interesting premises as oppose to the standard action/comedy/horror flick that most other Hollywood studios push out.
MILD SPOILER ALERT. Years ago, I heard a joke about how Woody Allen told a studio the worst idea he could think of and then told them about Sleeper and the studio agreed to make it! That may have been what happened to me with this movie: I saw The Assistant the night before and then on the morning of Valentine's Day I saw Fantasy Island and by comparison Fantasy Island was the much better movie! I went in to The Assistant expecting great things due to its high Rotten Tomatoes score and was disappointed by it. I went into Fantasy Island and was surprised by how good it is and - Jeremy - I am still thinking about it the day after! You are right that Michael Pena isn't as good at being Mr. Roarke as compared to Ricardo Montalban. However what a lot of critics felt was a confused train wreck of plot resolutions at the end seemed to me like a lot of surprise twists and turns that made the movie exciting and interesting. Also I liked the way that the script took on the problems with the Fantasy Island concept to begin with - like how do the fantasies come true and wouldn't most people's fantasies have to do with sex anyway. There is a flaw - the movie opens with a scene and then we never come back to that scene again as the story advances which suggests poor editing of the movie. Also the ending was good and made the concept of a sequel actually interesting! However, Blumhouse please don't be the one to remake Love Boat! Happy Weekend Jeremy and keep up the great reviews!
