Excellent presentation. It did a good job of filling in some of the questions I had regarding the DP-Pro Master. Plus the new features that were not presented elsewhere. As always, I enjoy the presentations.

Thanks for making me feel good about my old Woodpeckers drill press table!

It is always worth watching new Deep Dives, even for tools I've long had. I'd upgraded my original table with the new fence and drawer when they came out, but just learned a couple new tricks for aligning the fence and center. Thanks!!

Thanks for the tips. Setting up and mounting the table is a bit tricky but if you watch the first deep dive video you can figure it out. Finally nice seeing that made in the USA Craftsman drill press. You can tell just by looking at it. My last bench top drill press failed after a few years unlike your Craftsman. Also Craftsman tools used to be guaranteed for life.

Great tips. Thank you. Setting up the stops that direction makes sense, but it looks like you lost 2" of capacity since the tightening mechanism has to stay on the fence and it looks to be about 2" long. Love your videos and the Woodpecker products.

Thanks for the tip on setting up the flipstop in the correct orientation when using the micro-adjust. The slop in the flipstops was my only complaint with the DP Pro before seeing this.

I am curious, the pdf manual of the DP-Pro fence shows slots on the back side of the fence through which the tightening knob assembly attaches the fence to the imbedded tracks. For the purpose of making the 4-1/2" square insert offset from the table center and therefore rotatable to get use out of the 8 sides of the insert (4 each top and bottom), once the table insert tracks, fence and quill are calibrated to the table center reference couldn't the table be shifted a half inch left (or right, but still in he same perpendicular plane to the column, not just by rotating the table on the column) and then re-center the fence to the quill. The table itself will be physically off center to the column but wouldn't the fence remain in registration along it's length in relation to the quill?

It's even simpler than that, Marc. Drill presses (and router tables, too) do not need the fence square to the table. The cutter doesn't move side to side, only rotate. Therefore, the only critical dimension is the bit to the fence, whether the fence is square or not. So, you can rotate the table on the column, moving the bit's location on the sacrificial insert, and use the fence normally. The only thing you lose is the function of the scales. For the scales to be accurate the column, table and quill all have to be centered with each other.

Do I have to install the table or can I just use the fence on the table my drill press has?

Martin, the fence needs a pair of tracks about 12" apart. Most standard drill press tables aren't big enough.

My frustration with the DP Fence has been the dust collection port. The port does not connect easily to a 2.5" dust collection system. The size isn't very standard and is very short. It's pretty impossible to attach any dust collection hose directly to it without adapters. And it was tough to find an adapter that would work. Eventually I found a reducer which I could cut down and insert into the end to give me enough length to attach a 2.5 hose other parts. If dust port had just had any length I could have clamped an oversized hose or cuff onto it without going through all this.

Kyle, the port is sized to work with 2-1/4" shop vacuum connections. Rockler, PowerTec and a few others make adapters to attach 2-1/2" hose to shop vac 2-1/4" fittings.

Wish you would sell the old table by itself i.e., without the 36” fence and the 2 molded or SS flip stops. I too have a benchtop drill press and would have liked to get the old table with the DP-Pro fence, to save on height. But as it stands, I would have to buy one of the Drill Press Table Packages that all include the aforementioned hardware I don’t need. Love all your stuff, big fan, but a bit disappointed by this.

Good point. I'll bring that up. In the mean time, call Customer Service. They may be able to accommodate you with a price that isn't on the web site.

@@WoodpeckersLLC thanks for answering so quickly. As a matter of fact, I already did and I was unceremoniously told that if I buy a car, I don't get to pick and choose... I have to buy the SKUed items 😶 hence this comment... I'm sure this solution would interest many other people who also have benchtop drill presses so hopefully something can be done. Thanks again and keep up the good work👍

Is it possible to install the DP-Pro table directly on the drill press table, without the drawer? I want the ability to expand the table but I don’t want to loose the depth that the mount/drawer will take up.
@WoodpeckersLLC
@WoodpeckersLLC 2 года назад
Afraid that won't work, Cliff. The drawer base actually houses the expansion hardware. What type of drill press are you working with? Most modern bench tops have enough column length that it should not be very much of a limit.

I have a floor mount Craftsman drill press. Just want to build some storage underneath the table so I’m a little concerned about how much height the drawer adds. No worries, I think it will be fine… just wanted to ask. Thanks for answering my question.

I've seen a couple of designs for cabinets that are on casters and can roll out from under the drill press when you have very tall material. You might consider something like that.
