Pitfalls in the advocacy of routine infant circumcision (RIC): * It is still often performed without anesthesia. This should be illegal. Infants are never given postop painkillers ; * There is no honest counting of botched and lethal outcomes; * The consequences of circumcision for sexual pleasure and function are unknown, because unresearched. Hence we have no evidence bearing on whether circumcision is safe or not.
''As regards circumcision, I think that one of its objects is to limit sexual intercourse, and to weaken the organ of generation as far as possible, and thus cause man to be moderate. Some people believe that circumcision is to remove a defect in man's formation; but every one can easily reply: How can products of nature be deficient so as to require external completion, especially as the use of the fore-skin to that organ is evident. This commandment has not been enjoined as a complement to a deficient physical creation, but as a means for perfecting man's moral shortcomings. The bodily injury caused to that organ is exactly that which is desired; it does not interrupt any vital function, nor does it destroy the power of generation. Our Sages (Beresh. Rabba, c. 80) say distinctly: It is hard for a woman, with whom an uncircumcised had sexual intercourse, to separate from him. No amputation is ok. They all cause issues, but I was circumcised as an infant which caused me painful erections later and torn skin, and as I got older because I like all other cut men thought this was normal. When I was about ten or twelve years old, I started getting frequent erections and my penis grew in size almost overnight it seemed and I developed open wounds from the stretching skin that were like stretch marks that were from not having enough skin. My shaft skin cracked and bled and hurt so bad I couldn't do anything about it. And I had no one to talk to about it I thought it was normal and I just really tried to not get erections, which was tuff especially at that age. I assumed that it must just be normal. I’ve never had that much sensitivity ever. When I started dating more when I was eighteen I noticed something was wrong and that I would lose an erection almost immediately after a sexual encounter. YOU ARE SO WRONG.
"You" are not just removing "a cuff of skin" 1:00 but a thin layer of involuntary muscle (that holds the foreskin closed, protecting the peehole), arteries and veins (that have to reroute themselves, with unpredictible results) and some tens of thousands of nerves, specialised like those of the fingertips or lips, that would otherwise confer "a symphony of sensation" that cut men like Dr Michael Hyman literally can't imagine, because their brains have long forgotten having that part.
Hello Dr. Hyman, I am a 50 yr old male, I started noticing the foreskin starting trying to adhere to the right side of the head of the penis but was no issue, that was when I was about 34-35 yrs old. Now I am 50 and my foreskin is adhered around the entire head of the penis about halfway back of the head. If I try to pull it back it hurts, kinda feels like bad bee stinging. I understand I need a circumcision because it has interfered in my sex life with my wife for the past couple of yrs now. When we try to have sex it stretches the skin back far and it will bleed and just like I said, hurts and stings very bad. Now that I have tried to catch you up with me, what would be your course of action with me, with my condition what type of circumcision would you do if you were guessing, how long would I be in pain from this, and my concern as much as the procedure, the swelling, hurting, bleeding etc. is afraid of the physician not helping me enough with pain medication until all of the pain subsides. I'm not interested in long term use of pain medication but I sure don't want to go without pain medication because I know by watching others on youtube speak about their experiences they were in pain for long periods of time especially when they try to walk any distance at all, pain is extreme at times and this is a long time after the procedure. @sanjay sen The doctor is not paid hundreds for doing "nothing". An amputation is by definition a reduction in size. To say nothing of the resultant - usually life-long - loss of sexual function and enjoyment. It should be a crime.
