Honestly, my personal head cannon is that Moody's eye is the eye of the fates (from Greek mythology). Which works, because the fates are immortal beings and outside the realm of death, so if Moody has it, he could see through death's objects because the fates were "above" death in the Greek myth hierarchy thing.

Okay James didn't have his wand on him but what if he attacked Voldemort with his stag form?

We NEED a “What if Worm tail had never become the potter secret keeper” / “Sirius had agreed to be potters secret keeper”.

On the one hand in the main story Harry doesn't seem to have discussed names much with his wife (Ginny) but I do find it a little bit much to imagine Fleur calling her daughter 'Olly!

My theory about Moody's eye being able to see through the Cloak is that Dumbledore enchanted it himself using the Elder wand. If the Elder wand could repair Harry's holly wand when repairing a wand is supposed to be impossible, then I think it's possible that enchanting an eye with the Elder wand to see through anything would give it the ability to see through the Cloak, which would otherwise have been impossible.

I like to think that Dumbledore taught DADA on/off some years. Perhaps for all of the Marauders's years. Like, no homework. Maybe all four houses together in the Great Hall so he'd only have to teach a few. Getting guest lectures like Aurors to come in. Getting the older students to assist with the younger students as part of OWL/NEWT studying.

I distinctly remember in book 4..... Snape tried to summon the cloak when Harry got stuck on the stairs. It never moved and I always thought the cloak offered some low level protection against spells cast upon it. This was not usual for invisibility cloaks, lending credence to it being an actual hollow!

In the Wizarding World article on wand cores says phoenix feathers are quite aloof and take a lot of strength and stout character to wield. Voldemort and Harry are two such wizards. I think the wood makes the difference. Holly is called the king of the forest in fall and winter while the oak is king in spring and summer. Funny that this lore says Holly is king in the _dark half of the year._ Voldemort kills the Potters on Halloween, smack dab in the middle of fall. Voldemort's wand is yew, and everything short of the "fruit" about it is poisonous. (don't eat the seed). Just thought I'd throw that tidbit in there. It seems to me the monarch of the forest is destroying that in the forest which is poison. And did you notice Harry meets Voldemort in the Dark Forest?

Funny that you guys mention the connection between “Holly” and “HP” because my mother’s name is Holly and her last name starts with a P so her initials are “HP” and I got a Harry Potter tattoo on my arm of the initials “HP” (with the Warner Bros look of the lightning bolt finish to the bottom of the P) and my dad (messily divorced from my mother) got offended upon seeing my tattoo, he was like “Where’s mine?!?” And I was so confused, like “Where’s your what…?” And he pointed to my arm and said “So you got mom’s initials and not mine?!?” I told him the HP actually stands for Hewlett-Packard and I press my arm against the printer at my office to make the printer work properly xD

If Lily's sacrifice protects Harry from the killing curse the sacrifice would protect him from the consequences that follow. This would include the damage to the house.

I like the explanation for killing the sword. Like the killing curse is supposed to be the most powerful unblockable spell in existence so of course the goblin-made nature would seek to absorb the power and then in doing so the spell itself (and by proxy its power) surges throughout the sword only to then purge Tom’s soul and power out of it

Concerning Voldemort destroying the house: Harry is just moments under the Sacrificial Love Charm ... any damaging spells that did come his way would have rebounded/not struck him anyways despite the cloak being on him. In extension, Draco would be able to hit him with a spell through the cloak as the charm is only protecting Harry from Voldemort. In terms of the Apparation Question: it wasn't a matter of age or license. All the Hogwarts students start learning how to do it in their 6th year. With your timeline accelerated by a year, Harry and friends haven't even begun to learn how to do it properly prior to Dumbledore taking Harry to the cave in 5th year. Unless Dumbledore was giving him secret lessons on how to do it along with the defensive spells, I can't see Harry and friends being able to do it while they are on the run. Even Hermione isn't able to apparate properly on the first attempts and that's with Ministry teaching.

Possibly, Dumbledore got the Elder Wand from Grindlewald and used it to enchant Moody's magical eye to be able to see through the cloak - the logic being that only a Hallow can negate the powers of another Hallow.

I think another interesting thing to add/could be an answer to the questions about the cloak/hallows is that the deathly hallows aren’t actually made by ‘death’ they are made by the Pevoral brothers; exceptional wizards. Meaning that other objects like the eye or the map could also be made by exceptional wizards and thus have those abilities that they have

Can you please continue your what if Neville was the chosen one series? I know you ‘ended’ it showing how Neville would actually become the chosen one, but I feel like there’s still a lot of really cool plot threads you guys could pull on based on point where you left the series

I know other people have done this, but I'd love to see you guy's take on what if Dudley was a wizard. Its probably not enough for a longer series, because it doesn't inherently effect the prophecy and Harry and Voldemort in any significant way. But it would be interesting.

That thing about Harry seeing a guy in Rons bed on the map and not saying anything about it is kinda funny.

Marauders can hide themselves from the map, but it requires a continued, sustained spell. Because Crookshanks was harassing Scabbers all year, Pettigrew couldn't keep the spell up consistently.

As for the Moody's eye situation actually being Odin's eye seems like a really good plot point. I'm mythology Odin sacrifices it to Mimir's well where it grants him extraordinary vision/wisdom. One of the 3 roots of Yggdrasil is based in Mimir's well. So my theory is that all the mythological deities from all the pantheons were at some point in history just witches and wizards themselves. And Grindy. Went searching for where Odin hid his eye after the fight with the Dumbledore brothers in order to help him locate the elder wand. Then after he was defeated by Albus, the eye went to Moody and the want went to Dumbledore.

I only had one question going into this, and I had to wait until the very last question to get my answer. The whole Fleury idea was awesome.

6:12 Xenovillius mentions in the tale of the three brothers, that the cloak is infallible, spells don't work on it. Ron confirms this when the 3 are talking about the Hallows and how Harry's cloak doesn't fade, wear from age and how (to their current knowledge at that time no spell affected the cloak) Also a Death Eater uses Accio on the Cloak while the trio are under, it doesn't work in DH. This essentially retcons Draco's body bind spell in HBP on Harry in the compartment then as that works while Harry's under the cloak. So as far as cannon goes even if Voldy whipped his wand around the house blasting stuff, it wouldn't directly hit the cloak, although it could potentially make the cloak fly off Harry.

A great what if video would be if Snape never called Lily a Mudblood. Would they get together and would Harry even be born?

I think Odin gives up his eye in exchange for foresight? I love the SCB theory that Mad Eye's Eye was also made by the Peverals and that's why it's so powerful. To me, this is totally my head canon.

My theory about the cloak is that Dumbledore did something to it while it was in his possession in order to see through it. He may have enchanted some threads that were then stitched into the cloak. Moody/Crouch didn't see Harry; he saw the strings sewn into the cloak.

Questions: 1 What would happen if the trace was triggered in a fidelius charmed house would it work? 2 What would happen if you polyjuiced into a viela are they the same species? It works when Fleur does it and she’s 1/4 Viela???

Big thanks to Isabelle (guessing on the spelling there), I loved this ‘What if?’ so much, and the FAQ answered the one point the story just didn’t cover, that being the epilogue. I’ve loved Harry/Fleur stories ever since I found a good fanfiction, though at this point I can’t recall which story that was; anyway, Fleurry (or just Flurry), sounds great, and that their first date was at the Yule Ball and then giving their first daughter the name Holly was just perfect. That said, you didn’t mention how Fleur means flower, so even if it’s not a type of flower it’s still kind of follows the Evan’s name theme, and there’s no way she’d let her daughters middle name be Molly seeing as how I don’t see Molly treating Fleur any better than she did at first in canon. I suspect Fleur will insist on some part of her child’s name to be French like the names of her canon children, my first thought was for Apolline, but maybe they decide to have a little fun and go with Holly Juniper Potter, then their daughter is still HJP just like her dad? Okay, took a step away before hitting ‘Comment’ and thought of two more questions, first, do Ron and Hermione still end up together? After all, in your version Ron has no reason to be nasty to Hermione and she and Victor have a good time together, so maybe she had started to think about Ron in a romantic way, but now her first date just went great, and Ron was never confronted with his feelings for her, not at the ball or later when the locket tried to convince him that Harry and Hermione were a couple. For that matter, Ron’s at the ball with a pretty girl and he doesn’t have a reason to be extra grumpy (almost typed moody, but he’s there already), so maybe his date goes okay? My second question was what does Harry say he wants to be when he grows up in that year five interview with McGonagall? In canon he said he wanted to be an auror, but your version of Harry has actually had a couple years of his schooling where no one tried to kill him, so is that still his goal? I wouldn’t think so, so my next thought was what might he choose, and my thoughts turned back to the advice Barty Jr gave him in canon before the first task, to play to his strengths. Well, Harry is exceptionally good at DADA and flying (there was no ‘Dumbledore’s Army’ so Harry never discovered his ability to teach, at least not yet), so he decides to go professional at Quidditch. From there we move back to the results from the first question where Hermione ends up with Victor, and she, wanting to improve the Wizarding World and feeling like the best chance to do so is in the country she just helped save from Voldemort, convinced him to move to England where he and Harry end up on the same team, Krum as seeker and Harry as a chaser (following his dad’s example). Maybe you even throw in Ron as keeper, which he became really good at with Parvati as his girlfriend, since she could encourage him without embarrassing him (remember ‘Won-won’?). Anyway, from there you end up with an unstoppable national team and England wins a record number of world cups for the next 20-30 years while all three are playing.

Fleur's mother is named Apolline. Why not give that to their daughter? It was already strange from Ginny in the original why all names came from Harry, and none from her (except maybe Lily's middle name Luna).

I think each Horcrux houses a different piece of Voldemort. The locket housed is negativity and that's why it did what it did. None of the others had such effects either.

40:00 My first thought when second names got mentioned was Holly Molly. glad to see I wasn't the only one. It's the perfect name for the scenario. Molly is the most influential female figure in Harry's life after his mother, so if he goes with Holly he would absolutely go with Molly.

As for using avada kedavra on the horcruxes - the way I read the story is that to use the unforgivable curses effectively, you have to WANT to do it. That leads to interesting scenarios with regards to the imperius curse, but as for cruciatus and avada kedavra, you have to WANT to do it for the curse to be effective, and Harry never does. But, theoretically, yes, avada kedavra would work on a horcrux. it's just that Harry is incapable of casting that spell.

Well, we know all of the horcruxes do terrible things to the people who interact with them. I really like the idea of the locket and the diary having more emotional impact because they hide things away. But the ring curses Dumbledore, the diary possesses Ginny and makes her feel horrible so much so she flushes it down a toilet. I can only imagine what would have happened if someone drank from the cup or put on the diadem. I think it stands to reason all the agony Harry goes through with his scar, and especially in Order, are the examples of someone being affected by the horcrux inside Harry. I think it only affects himself directly, that makes the parselmouth ability make sense too.

Was hoping FAQs would answer my biggest questions, it did not. So: 1) If Voldy never took over Prof. Quirrell and touched Harry, how would he know that he couldn't touch Harry and do the whole finger to the skin thing with the "I can touch you now" line? 2) If Voldy didn't get blasted right after killing Lily and then go into hiding until he kills Cedric, how does Priori Incantantum (which spews out the last performed spells, in order of most recent going backwards) why would his wand spit out Lily and James right away? Did Voldy kill Lily and then just chill for 14 years?

I still don't think the killing curse would have affected the Sword of Griffindor. That curse doesn't destroy objects. It kills people. And since goblinwrought items seems to be indestructable, it might just be such an item turned into a horcrux unbeatable.

My biggest question has always been why wasn't James the Secret Keeper for his own home. He already couldn't leave, and that would have made it basically impossible for Voldemort to ever find them and he could have told anyone he wanted and they wouldn't be able to tell anyone else.

What do you think about Fawkes only giving the second feather after the prophecy? So originally his ONLY feather was meant for Tom Riddle, destined to face OR side with Dumbledore (the owner of said phoenix)? Which also kind of explains Dumbledore's involvement in the main story. Question 2 - Do the phoenix feathers or the prophecies come first? Which causes which?

I thought the owner of the horcrux probably has the ability to destroy them which is why Voldemort can use the killing curse to destroy it, but others probably couldn’t.

There is a charm I’ve heard before that allows the caster to see anyone that is undetectable or using an invisibility cloak. Another issue I would debate is Dumbledore ask to borrow the cloak and in Ron’s case Harry gave the cloak directly to use.

i think a part that they are forgetting about Moody's eye being able to see harry, is that he wants Moody to see him. it might not be a function of the eye itself as much as a function of the cloak, Harry actively wants Moody to see him in that moment so that he can let him know that the parchment (map) is his.

Btw, what if a dementor kissed Harry? With the Horcrux. Would it eat Voldemort's peace of sould and leave Harry clean? Or would it eat Harry's sould and leave just Voldy? (In that case he is resurrected kind of?) Or would it eat both?

I always felt that moodys eye was made by dumbledore with the elder wand.

In no world would an EIGHTEEN year old Fleur EVER be interested in a FOURTEEN year old Harry no matter how "famous" he was!! In addition to it being just weird that an 18 year old goes after a 14 year old, going after someone for fame was NEVER her personality. She was the type of person who had her nose in the air and only wanted older guys! She would never have let her reputation take a hit by dating someone younger than her because to her, he was beneath her and not worthy of her attention. She knew in the original version that he defeated the Dark Lord TWICE and still held her nose up to him. She wouldn't let something like fame sway her standards. Heck, if all she cared about was fame, she would have went with Viktor Krum, who was the best Quidditch seeker in the world, AND, actually the same age as her. Also, I'm sure her LITERAL SISTER would have been the most important thing to her as opposed to some famous 14 year old boy she just met even if he did defeat the darkest wizard alive!🤦🏿‍♀️😤

The Cloak can most definitely stretch its self intuitively cause it manages to fit over Norbert’s cage when they smug him out of the castle. They don’t specify how big the large crate is, but Harry and Hermione struggle with carrying especially without Ron’s help because of the bite on his hand. Both of them and the crate fit under the cloak. Also if it can shrink to fit in his pocket I don’t see why it couldn’t stretch.

Serious doubt that just raised. In Deathly Hallows, when the Trio are with the Lovegoods, one of the Death Eaters tries some charm that lets him know that someone is present there. Would that or would that not work if the Invisibility Cloak was in play? The changing size of cloak has a term. I believe Newt says that Occamys are something, shrink or grow to fit available space. Natural characteristic turned into spell? Also, really shocking realization here, maybe others knew it. Harry, throughout Book 7, is apparating illegally. And so is Ron I think. Cause Ron fails his apparition test with Hermione and decides to take it with Harry later during summer. Harry turns 17 on July 31, and the Ministry crashes immediately the next day. We know the events of these two days, and immediately after the Ministry crashes, the Trio goes into hiding. Did they ever get their license? And also, can you apparate outside your country or do you need something like a visa?

Quick question totally unrelated to the topic : Is it possible for someone of the Hogwarts Founder’s bloodline to be sorted into another House? Like for example, say Gryffindor had a legacy. His son or daughter gets sorted anywhere except Gryffindor. Would he or she still be able to access the Sword of Gryffindor? And would it even be possible for them to get sorted into any other house?

As to why the first phoenix feather wand chose Voldemort, what if it hoped to redeem Tom? To make him reborn? Harry’s being chosen is then threefold: having twin souls, being linked in the prophecy, and hoping to redeem the situation through Harry.
