I am a humble Army veteran with no power. I do however offer my sincere apologies to the world for the pain we are inflicting on our friends. For your loyalty to us I would gladly give up my own life protect to protect you. There is not a large market for a 68 year old former soldier. I do however offer my prayers.

One of the major problems with NATO at the moment is the other countries not pulling their defense budget weight, abusing the massive American defense budget so that they can put their money into their own social services...and that needs to change. They only need 2 friggin percent. With the social services problems in the US with the massive migrant crisis, illegal immigration, mental health, veterans care, inflation and massive wealth loss for the lower middle class/working class/regular people, child poverty, and homelessness in the US, maybe the threat to leave will be the kick in the ass that many of the NATO countries need to step up according to the NATO contract that they themselves signed. Out of 30 member states, only 7 hit their 2 percent quota in 2022...that is 23 NATO members not contributing their share, and putting the burden on the American taxpayers, resources that could go to our own needed social services. It has been that way for a long time, and that needs to change.

Our allies are economically powerful, because they do not have to spend much on their militaries thanks to the protection from us. But as a result, our resources are strained and the middle class is struggling. Our allies need to spend more on their militaries! Trump said that many years ago!
There is a definite feeling in the United States among both the right and left to focus less on international issues and more on domestic issues. How far each side wants to take it varies depending on the person and the political persuasion, but it is there and it is growing.
They need to understand that they do not and cannot live completely in isolation. Climate, trade and other issues are not things that can be done in isolation. Trump's anti-climate coalition has global consequences. Also the activities of US-based multinational corporations on the world-stage should not be underestimated, especially in the energy and weapons sectors. It's very "convenient" to withdraw from international issues but still sell weaponry to unstable states.

I am more nervous about Europe being so passive and not ramping up military spending in every single country of EU and NATO and give Ukraine anything and everything. With many top positions being taken by foreign powers inside of Europe in ministries and the UK thinking that Brexit would solve anything, and with Germany's power only a remnant of its shadow, Ukraine (and Poland) is the only one daring to see the problems of this world.

Why would Australia consider China a security threat? China is Australia’s biggest trading partner. It has been beneficial to peoples of both countries. What on God’s earth would Australia benefit from decoupling from China. It is a completely incomprehensible international policy, taking a position against self interest. Whatever, it is confusing as heck.
Of course it's in Australia's interest not to decouple from China, but Australia has made it very clear that they don't like China's Taiwan ambitions, their ludicrous claims to the entire China Sea or their civil rights record. Australia has some moral compass at least and has become a refuge for Chinese asylum seekers (probably since the Tiananmen Square days). China has already shown it has no hestation in putting weakly disguised trade bans on Australian goods to punish it for its attitude. Trade is good, but not if one country weaponises it. Australia is constantly seeking new markets because of this.
China threatens to take the entire region down to Australia and if that happens, they can easily isolate Australia from the rest of the world. Then all trades will be on China's terms and Australia will always be in a huge risk of being attacked by China as well if China think it benefits them to do so. And the reality is that Australia would struggle extremely much against China if they are to be alone in the fight against China.

Australia’s alignment isn’t just with America, it’s with most South East Asian and Pacific countries, and it is by far the most stable country in the Southern Hemisphere. What Europeans fail to appreciate is they inflicted and have maintained, punitive trade embargoes on Australia generations ago, and despite treating Australia as an enemy they just expect it to support them. Well that attitude is fast running out and there’s no reason whatsoever for Australia to back any country other than itself in its fortress continent.
