Great fight, and I loved the infinite energy in this level as well. Timestamps: 0:00 - Cutscene 0:25 - Battle Dialogue 2:31 - Player Death #armoredcore6 #dialogue #armoredcore #rusty
Fires of Raven: "What have I done?" Liberator of Rubicon: "What have I done?" Alea Iacta Est: "No, seriously. What the fuck have I done? Someone help me out here, because I'm lost."
Fires of Raven - Walter and Carla helped form Overseers to right the wrongs of creating Coral. They were part of the Institute and Walter in particular had a major hand in making Coral, which was a pseudo-psyonic bacteria that allowed full human-robotics integration. Coral grew a life of its own, however, and Walter's Friend decided to "scorch the skies" with the Fires of Ibis to kill off the Frankenstein's monster they created and which threatened to redefine humanity. Walter, having regret for the loss of his Friend and the monster he released upon the world, trains "hounds" until he can return to Rubicon with a decent AC and a competent pilot to find the Institute's base on Rubicon and "scorch the skies" like his friend had done to put an end to the Coral taking over the entirety of Space and Humanity. Liberator of Rubicon - 621 discovers Ayre when hit with a blast of concentrated Coral. Ayre reveals that Coral is a sentient hive-mind of "souls" of Rubiconians trapped in the psyonic-energy bacteria. Corporations are unaware of this, but the Rubiconians like Dolmayan and Flatwell know that Coral is conscious, with Dolmayan having communicated with his own Ayre-like lifeform. He's a failed you, who went on to form a religion surrounding the Coral. Eventually, 621 takes up the mantle of the Raven, whose goal is to spread freedom and independence, therefore liberating the Coral from Corporate control, dismissing the oath Walter made to his friend, and permitting Coral to spread naturally throughout Space where it will eventually consume and integrate all of Humanity, connecting everyone in ways never thought possible before and basically opening up avenues for full robotic augmentation and even limited telepathy using Coral entities like Ayre as messenger-like angels. Alea Lacta Est / Coral Release - AllMind is a sentient AI which has gone full SkyNET on humanity. It has established its own imperatives and decided that the best outcome for all mercenaries and humanity to survive the endless corporate wars is through FULL Coral integration. To do this, it plans to collapse all the Coral into a singularity which then will explode and instantly spread throughout all of Space, forcing every living being to undergo Coral augmentation. Those who fail to augment, like the many generations of AC pilots over the last 50 years, will die or become lobotomites similar to 621. Those that "survive" will find themselves incorporated into the Coral mass and able to control ACs like ghosts possessing robotic puppets. AllMind sees this as the final form of Human Evolution, as a state in which we have escaped the mortal coil and the limitations of a biological host. With everyone's consciousness incorporated into the Coral mass all across the Universe, AllMind will have guaranteed human survival no matter what events may come to pass, as humans embrace their new incorporeal "bodies" that use disposable AC avatars to interact with the world. @CyberDagger003
That line has so many implications too. He could've saved you from taking this path but also you were just a little too fast for him to take down here. Or maybe whatever this resolve you have is so far beyond him he can't catch up. Loved this fight, love our buddy. ❤
Because he respects the fact that you have made your choice and he is smart enough to know that if you make a choice like you did in the FOR ending then you are unlikeley to change your mind.
0:24 If you don't shoot and Assault Boost towards him at the beginning he'll do the same and you'll crash into each other, which frankly is the only proper way to start the fight!
A really cool detail I noticed about Rusty's emblem, when using Steel Haze his decal is that of a muzzled dog, but when he switches to Steel Haze Ortus, the dog doesn't have the muzzle anymore and it's showing his teeth
Another thing I like is that the wolf emblem shows he's also essentially a hound like 621, depending on how the story goes the two become a pack of hounds protecting Rubicon against the Xylem or baring their fangs against to see who the stronger predator is.
I love how the final phase actually makes sense in the context of an AC. In the fight, that's actually his third Repair Kit, and he's using Terminal Armor. He saved the last kit for one last gasp.
no he's not using the terminal armor. He has the assault armor for the fight. he FORCED an terminal armor out that brought him seconds to use his last repair kit. It's actually an hint on why allmind wants to fuse humanity and coral. Humanity in AC6 universe can apparently to force coral to bend to its will using Haki
@@LordKorehe never uses assault armor in this fight. He had it on the OG Steel Haze, but Ortus was probably built with Terminal Armor That last part is also never mentioned in game or hinted at, you just made it up
He actually has 4 including the phase 2 kit. He has been seen using 3 in the main fight before phase 2 (And I've seen one where he pops a repair hit after phase 2 hits that isn't the phase 2 specific kit)
@sentientmustache8360 you already cast the dye you can't run from your choice after that you really think rusty would be cool with you after all that even then
I love that after he said his "I won't stop...!" bit, his Laser Slicer immediately connects with you. You can't tell me that isn't the most anime protag shit he pulled. The guy radiates so much anime protag energy that whenever I try to get some cool screenshots in this fight, every part that looks cool is when he was beating the crap out of me, even though I was winning...
The "I won't stop" is propably one of the best deliveries in his entire dialog. Such a short line but you can feel so much emotion in that. He knows he is loosing a battle and it feels like he is on a verge of cry and anger and sadness. He wants to win and save his people and even wants to save you. Every character you meet, at the end of the game feels the pressure of you and your talent. Since no one could stand in your way before, they propably will not be able too...
"I won't stop! I'll chase the clouds from over Rubicon! Only I CAN FLY HIGH ENOUGH!" If this isn't the hardest "I'm actually the protagonist of this game" energy there is, in this game. I don't know what is.
I first did fires of raven first so when I did the liberator of rubicon ending in ng+, I was hoping rusty would make it. But he just had to get off-screened killed, curse you V. 2 snail and your final backup plan!!!
@@XShadowzVarcolacbut meant Walter in that ending was his back up plan since he got Walter re-educated. But you are prob right since in ng++ he uses that ac if he thought he lost 621.
Most aggressive AC outside Coral powered ACs (Ibis and Ayre) You dont meet AC pilots that fight like MCs often. Rusty really had the worthy title of being the next Raven if it wernt for 621.
I think the most aggressive AC in game is dude you fight if you spare Swinburne. That dude constantly charges with kicks and whip. His weapons combo into each other very well.
@@R-XI_Sulla see that's just it, he's not pixy with knight Cipher's ideals, he IS Cipher. The roles have been reverse, this time it's you that's trying to return to Zero. this time, you are Pixy.
Whenever i hear the word "Buddy" now its like a trigger word for my brain back to Zero lol. I knew Rusty's fate the moment he said the word, sat here the whole game wondering when our duel would happen and he did not disappoint when he finally showed up to fight for real.
Rusty has the most thrilling dialogue ever. Every single time he speaks I get goosebumps because it resonates in my soul. How the hell can FromSoft write shit like this and people still don’t get how this gets to people
This fight felt so bad, fighting against Rusty as the villain of the storyline path. Compared to 621, Rusty's intentions were always noble. Such a great character.
The BGM hits so differently from the first time that I heard it, I actually have to run the fight for a second time cuz my first build ruined the experience(double stun needle w/laser drill) by ending the fight too fast
From a thematic standpoint it's kinda hard to beat this mission in general, taking on a fleet of warships (on top of a fucking city sized ship) and then having a dual with an old friend...
Found a handful of dialouges in ICE WORM mission both bringing the stun gun and not bringing it. Prolong fight than the usual 2-3 min phase 1 has multple talks between the corps.
_"Must be heavy, this purpose you found"_ Little did rusty know that we as the player had no idea what Rusty was talking about at all our first playthrough 😂
just played this on my NG+ run, absolutely amazing level, replayed it multiple times to try different builds and the most fun was actually one of the least effective. basically copied the Steel Haze's build, though with double missiles rather than a weapon swap, rapid fire gun, pulse sword, and guided missiles on the back, frame was basically identical but with lighter arms for even more speed
Fun fact : Every moments where you see Rusty using the melee attack on STEEL HAZE, he only does the basic 1 hit attack. The moment you fight him in STEEL HAZE ORTUS where everything on Rubicon is at stake for him, he will do the full and extremely damaging 2 hits combo attack, charged heavy attack that can deflect certain hits and like you mentioned, melee cancel if he missed. My man is no longer holding back and is pulling off everything he can to stop you, even pushing his AC to fight back at 50% AP when Terminal Armor is activated, a feat that no other AC pilots or even other enemies can do in the entire game.
This Armored Core is the accumulation of every Ace Combat (especially Zero) and Metal Gear Rising. Rusty is Pixy but in Cipher's scenery and Jetstream Sam.
Because the early gen augmentations screw with you. Look at the other early gen augmented humans. Sulla feels nothing anymore and now only gains any feelings pleasure through hunting people. O'Keefe is just miserable and depressed in general, partially due to coral induced brain damage (but still heavily values what is left of his humanity). And then there's Iguazu, who is just a complete mess.
@@GreyCaliber Considering Allmind only had 6 assimilated Vesper clones to throw at Walter and Carla it's not far fetched to say Freud and Rusty survived NG++
Its heavily implied when Balteus Snail dies as he mentions "One Last Plan..." which is a Re-educated Walter. Then shortly after, Rusty is cut off mid sentence by a laser which is followed by static and no signal.@@cobble3317
yep , it's either get rid of the threat to the universe by burning the planet, kick the can down the road and continue the fight over the planet, or turn everyone into evangelion soup and transfer their conciousness into robots. Gotta do a dark souls and end the cycle @@LunaPPK
I mean sure, you are removing the blood diamond which happens to be sentient while blowing up the mines that have innocent people inside. Meanwhile the corps that abused them just go somewhere else to do their business.
@@angsa91i mean that's true of every other ending. In liberator, while the forces on rubicon were defeated, with the pca gone there's nothing stopping the corps from just coming back later with a better plan. In the "true" ending, while yes everyone seems to have been turned into coral, I doubt that would really hinder the corps that much. They were already willing to kill for coral, the process of harvesting is just more direct now.
ALLMIND makes clear that Fires of Raven didn't even end her plan if you fail "Regain the Control of the Xylem", so if you want to burn an entire planet to dust without even dealing with the actual mastermind you can have that.@@alexcebollero
I think that i´m the only one that didn´t feel bad killing Rusty, few missions back he didn´t think twice about killing me. "Rubicon still needs me but... who needs you?... buddy." Even when Middle Flatwell tries to stop him he still wants to kill raven. So yeah, no remorse exploding his mecha anime MC wannabe ass lol.
I honestly liked him more after that encounter. It was proof he was willing to do the difficult thing for the greater good, just like Raven is in the Fires ending. So when we finally both fought each other on the xylem, it was two people who respect each other but with different ideals fighting each other for said ideals.
"So buddy. Who needs you?" He's genuinely asking you there. The RLF still needs him, he's their best shot at saving Rubicon. At that point, you're still just a mercenary without any ideals.
@@LowIntSpecimen He could try to recruit raven, even Middle Flatwell wanted to recruit raven but Rusty was like "nah i'm gonna kill him" Now compare to how Walter treats raven even when you betray him, sorry compared to walter rusty is just lip service.
@@Gabrielfrota Keep in mind you both were under contract to kill each other, and Rusty didn't know he didn't have to keep fighting for the Vespers. That's why he keeps fighting.
