Yeah, designing, building , filming and the editing took a mountain of time for each video and I guess I just got burned out and frustrated that the channel wasn’t reaching that many people. Yeah, got burned out with little return for sure. I mean, a lot of people have watched the videos overall but it didn’t blow up. I was never showing up in people’s searches. Even when using exact wording no one was finding my videos. I was blocked form showing up in searches. I couldn’t break through RU-vid’s algorithm. I have an ETSY site that sells all of my templates for the builds and they are still selling so that’s cool I guess.

@@BlackSheepProps Thats great you can still make a buck off the templates 😊. I gave up on youtube with my old account too. Consistant quality uploads don't work and it confuses me how people with no skill or talent end up getting the attention.

Thanks so much TDC! Yep, got frustrated - and burned out. Mostly just frustrated. Figure it would help assist a lot of people, but it almost never even got seen. Hopefully people will continue to find it and it will help them progress or give them the courage to start building on their own.

Hi James! I think its a combination of being burnt out and frustrated. I’ve been at it every week for 3 years, probably 3 or 4 days a week so that’s where the burnt out part comes from. And RU-vid’s goofy algorithms have kept me the invisible channel! I don’t show up in ANY searches? Even people who are looking don’t find me. People who have been avid prop making fans have been watching builds for years and have NEVER seen me ever show up in searches. A lot of video influencers have learned the same thing about the algorithms and many are ragingly frustrated with RU-vid and their ever changing policies. Plus, it’s also been pretty expensive and I figured the ad revenue would grow and would cover it but it hasn’t due to the goofy algorithm situation so it’s getting difficult cost-wise. But man, I have LOVED IT all this time! Loved doing it. Loved sharing it. Loved giving people some enjoyment. Gonna miss it. Thanks again James!

I just wanted to say that prop-making is something I'm going to be getting into first as a hobby then hopefully as a job, your basics on Dremels and cutting foam were the first two videos I saw when looking for tips and it started with you, thank you, I know it doesn't mean too much coming from a random British guy on the internet but I'd like to express my gratitude anyway. Thanks so much FC!! Yes, the problem with RU-vid’s algorithms is a big one. Many people are super frustrated with RU-vid blocking videos from showing up in searches based on who they can make the most money from. I have remained almost invisible on RU-vid for 3 years - even for people who have been searching prop making videos. It was pretty expensive doing props for 3 years and I thought the ad revenue would grow as the channel grew and it would cover the cost of doing so many builds - but it didn’t. So, I guess I am burnt out and frustrated. But I have LOVED IT for these 3 years! Super fun sharing it with the great group of supporters. It is pretty cool knowing I was enjoyed by someone on the other side of the world! Good luck brother in all you do!

Hey Jon! Well, I’ve been cranking out builds every weekend and a couple nights a week non-stop for 3 years so I burned myself out I think. But it’s also the frustration of RU-vid that a lot of makers experience. Due to RU-vid’s algorithms none of my videos ever show up in searches for foam props, prop making, cosplay props, etc - NOTHING! My videos are not ”breaking through” and getting picked up in ”the stream”. I have done all the right things from the right tags, key words in the title, key words in the description, etc and I am still almost totally invisible to people searching? People have told me they have been watching prop making videos for years have never had my stuff show up in their searches. Many others complain about the same thing. It’s been a lot of time, a lot of work and a lot of cost to be invisible. BUT - that being said, I am sad to see it go because I did love every minute of it until recently.
