I can’t express how happy I am with this video! I’ve tackled a few foam project before but it was a lot of guessing and most of the results just didn’t look right. But after this video, it just makes so much more sense and I feel a lot more confident going in to foam crafting for cosplays, keep up the good work!

This video really deserves 10x the views it has. I was having massive problems with my dremel flaking bits off or softening points - both of those issues solved thanks to your video. Can't praise you enough

Awesome video! This will definitely assist my child with his school project. Would you please kindly advise what you used to stick the foams together and also what's the best thing to use to stick the foam to a cardboard? Again, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! You're a superstar!

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words! I mostly use contact cement to glue foam to foam, but I sometimes use super glue for really small parts. I have a video on the channel that focuses on the basics of contact cement that you can watch. Also, you can watch any of my build videos and it will show each step in making a foam prop so you can see when and how I use the different glues. I can not help with the cardboard though since I don not really work with cardboard. I hope the videos on my channel will help you. Good luck!

Hi there! Is the bit you're using the 932 aluminum oxide grinding stone? I've been trying to figure out what to use for the dremel because I can't find a sanding band grit higher than 240 for sale 😭 any help is appreciated!
@BlackSheepProps
@BlackSheepProps 3 года назад
Hi Jade! I believe you are correct. It came with the set. You know what I really love is the Dremel 454 chainsaw sharpening stone. I almost exclusively use that one now for all my smooth stuff. It’s thinner so I can get into areas better and it seems like it’s the exact same grit as the 932. LOVE that one.

This video was super helpful for me. One question. Do you have any recommendations regarding the Dremel rpm speed settings you like best? Thank you.
@BlackSheepProps
@BlackSheepProps 2 года назад
Hi Margot! Glad it was helpful. I always use mine on high which is 35000 RPMs for all of my foam prop work.

Thanks for the quick reply! Just getting started with foam. I was going a little slow. Like 5-6000. But, when I cranked it up, it was getting away from me. After watching your videos, now I know why that was happening..

Why do we need to grind in the direction of rotation? I’ve been going in the opposite direction and it’s been easier to control. Are there negative effects of dint it this way?

Are there any Health and Safety Data sheets available for EVA foam as looking into dust extraction and filtration
@BlackSheepProps
@BlackSheepProps 3 года назад
Hi Carlo! I dont have any data but every builder I learned from stressed the importance of using a dust mask when grinding foam. I never grind without a dust mask. And I frequently open the garage door and blow all the foam dust out so the shop stays as clean as possible. It also makes a difference according to the bit you are using - the super rough bits throw a ton of dust while the smoother bits don’t throw very much. But either way, I never grind without a dust mask. Be safe!
@carlotai4635

@@BlackSheepProps thank you for replying, what mask do you use in the video please

I use a 3M N95 dust mask.

Surely you are meant to move the tool the other direction. What you are suggesting is a climb cut, hence the issue of loosing control you mentioned.
