FARGO "Best Frances McDormand Scenes" Part 2 (1996) Coen Brothers
PLOT: "Fargo" is a reality-based crime drama set in Minnesota in 1987. Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) is a car salesman in Minneapolis who has gotten himself into debt and is so desperate for money that he hires two thugs (Steve Buscemi), (Peter Stormare) to kidnap his own wife. Jerry will collect the ransom from her wealthy father (Harve Presnell), paying the thugs a small portion and keeping the rest to satisfy his debts. The scheme collapses when the thugs shoot a state trooper.

Park is phenomenal in this scene. Everyone else in the movie seems to internalize their emotions in that polite Minnesota way but Park's character just falls completely apart on screen. Him blurting "I always liked you so much!" cracks me up every time.

I don't really understand the point of Park's scene though. Is it meant to be a red herring so you think he could be the murderer? It doesn't really add anything to the story hearing that Margie has a guy with a crush on her?!

@@MaleOrderBride it gives more depth into how very Lonely and Cold it can be in this Region.. Some people cant handle it as well as others ..Margie is very happily married, has a good although sometimes tough job, and a baby on the way .... Mike represents the exact opposite of that Full Life .

Such a great movie, chock full of great actors-- some of whom were kinda on the launch pad to bigger/better things, particularly William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi-- with a great story, great writing...the lot. Plus it always fascinated me how a movie can be so funny, quirky, and quaint yet morbid and shocking at the same time. One scene has a goof I noticed awhile back: when Marge shoots Grimsrud(sp?) she clearly pulls a .38 snubnose "Detective Special" but after she hits him in the leg and advances on him, the .38 revolver is now a full-size model with a 4 1/2" shrouded barrel.

You Betcha, Ya! Marge Gunderson is one of the most lovable heroines in Cinema, and the duo of Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare really play off brilliantly against her as bumbling villains, like Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern to Maculay Culkin in Home Alone!😂

I used to fly to Minneapolis for work back in 2008! The people of Minnesota were just awesome! Warmest, Kindest and friendliest people I have ever met. You could easily confuse them for Canadians 😂

Alot of cultural similarities from shared history I imagine. The accent people reference I think has influence from Ojibwe, French & German people in the region.

As a minnesota the way they way over did the accent was annoying. Make jo mistake, the mn accent from back on the day was horrid, but this was over the top.
