I believed at the beginning of this season that it was a mistake making Petterson one of the Top 10 highest paid players in the NHL in 2024. It's too much pressure for a player who is not at that level, good as he can be. He is just not a franchise superstar like McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Dreisatl, Ovechkin, and the other big names. But more importantly, he is not living up to the same level as JT Miller and Quinn Hughes, who are the real team leaders based on their consistent stats and intense effort. That's the important issue on the Canucks right now, not the rest of the NHL. Petterson needs to become a team leader on his own team and forget about everything else. Every Canuck fan wants to see that happen. Otherwise he is just a passenger collecting the big money and creating resentment among the fans and other players.
Every NHL hockey player faces much adversity throughout a season as each game is a competition between two teams after all. The difference is winners fight through adversity- not sulk and feel sorry for themselves! As expected, with great pay comes great responsibility- anything less would be cheating your teammates, the management, the ownership, and the fans. While Canuck fans won't simply let you dial it in as far as effort, they will be your biggest supporters if you fight through it. Let's see some of that Viking spirit, Petey!
11.6 is on pace for 41 points. millsy called it. he's acting like a baby. he has quit carrying the puck. he is looking for who to pass it to when he know's he's going to get the puck.
It's hilarious to see that Farhan he knows what gets this player going - petterson seems at his best when he plays angry. JT just looking to put some fire into him. Trying to coddle a hockey player is a complete joke
