Something you said in this video that I agree with wholeheartedly; I also grew with farmers (we lived in town) and I have great respect for farmers. They get up earlier than anyone. Work later than anyone and never get a vacation. They feed us. They are to be respected. The next time you're driving down a road and see a farmer in a field, honk and wave to show your respect. I guarantee you they will appreciate it!

I enjoy watching both your videos and Crazy Dave's of the same farm auctions, he covers the tractors and machinery and you the cars and trucks. It's cool that you are both in the same area of Kansas. I remember that Successful Farming magazine cover with the woman with the 4-H tee shirt. Who knows, I might still have that issue... My dad had a Jeep Gladiator similar to the one in the sale, although it was two wheel drive and had the 6 cylinder. The engine sound reminded me of the army five quarters (1 1/4 ton) we had back in the late 60's in Germany. Thanks for another trip down memory lane!

Interesting Jeep pickup! I actually bought a new one in October of '73. When I finally sold it, the speedo was showing 7,000 miles, actually 207,000. When I bought it, the axles were both Dana 44, with 3.73:1 ratio, stick shift and 360 2 barrel. As far as running and driving,. it was almost as dependable as an anvil, if you did the normal maintenance. The body however, was another story! Very poor quality of paint application, and bare steel in spots not easily seen, as under the top rails on the bed. Dealer repainted however. Much later, I was down to having more fiberglass than steel in the cab floor! Overall a good purchase however. I believe I paid $3600 for it, as the dealer was a good friend. Sold it in '86 for $1500, thought I got a pretty good deal. Replaced it with an '86 Ranger 4x4 pickup with 3 liter and five speed. Been buying Ford trucks ever since, mostly F150 and a ouple of F250.

At 31:00 - I remember in about 1961 my dad buying two of these '53 Nash models and making one out of two by swapping a manual trans into the nicer of the two. The only problem was the diff. gearing was way too high for the manual trans. It had so little get-up and go. It's always been a situation of a car maker coming up with something a little better than the other makers but it had to compromise on something else in order to keep the price down so they could sell it. It was always about the bottom line price. It seems the maker had to keep the price in line with the other makers in order to get the buyer onto the dealer lot.

It did have a steel building worth around $80,000. In my opinion the farmhouse could have been livable but it was starting to have issues which may not have made it worth completely renovating. Butler County does not issue new home build sites, so an established site like this can sell for a premium over bare agricultural ground to people looking to move to the country

The tractors were sold to a mix of people but Dave got a few. The Nash will go to Joe's Rust Ranch. It would ideally be sold whole, but could be parted if there is interest. I think it would be a good restoration candidate since it is relatively complete & intact, and titled

Some neat stuff, ok stuff, & a scrap man's dream... one question though - Why pass on the GMT Chevy p/up at that price? NOT asking to know your business details, just that as you said, a great buy, & at that mileage clearly room for quick flip & profit right(certainly low mileage trucks in demand ther as they are farther east,yes?)? Yes -I see the value in the Olds(especially if you clean it up -hint future vids please), so wouldn't there be greater value in the more common p/up??
@mr.goodpliers6988
@mr.goodpliers6988 Год назад
This was an early build truck - May of '87. The odometers on those early models were notoriously fragile. It had been parked because the transmission was slipping in OD - usually a problem that pops up in the 150k mile range. It had been used hard. This truck had its share of body rust. Fuel pump was dead from sitting, and it would have needed brake work more than likely. The tires were all mismatch, none were original assembly line tires. Also the brake pedal pad was worn through. These trucks are coming around for collector value, but pretty common in this area still, despite the bite of them that Cash for Clunkers took. So it sold on the higher end, considering what it actually was
@jamesthompson8008
