These 100 year old plus wagon wheels from Wyoming needed just a few repairs. Not many found today still in this good condition. I am going to replace whatever spokes are bad and also a few 3" fellow sections. I'll finish lip with hot shrinking the tires and hub bands so these wheels are serviceable once again.

You may of spent years in a seemingly never ending merry go round of fixing wheels. But, you've kept a craft and tradition alive and earned an honest living! Wouldn't be fair for anyone to knock it and it's been far more stimulating and rewarding for you than 35 years fitting car wheels on a production line! May you have many more years ahead of you. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Hi, Something I don't see in the comments - - something important that the next generation needs to know - How do you charge for your work? By the piece? By the hour? By the job? What are the amounts? What is the price per piece? Or what is the cost per hour? For a new generation wanting to take up this work - - these are great mysteries, yet vital to the founding of a successful business, and we need your guidance. I love watching your work - I was a structural and ornamental iron-crafter for many years - and your skills speak volumes to me. Help us carry on this work.

I was out by the Houston airport back in the 80's and I saw this German named company several times and decided to stop in to see just what they had. Tools of all kinds with brands beyond my fav Bosch. I noticed one keyless chuck that would fit an older model HD Bosch drill. Get yourself one of those precision keyless chucks for your drill press and save lots of time picking up the key and hand motion tightening and untightening those bits. Stay away from the cheaper keyless chucks cause they will mess up your bits with uneven jaws. But, smile at how easy it is to change bits. Good luck and Merry Christmas

Hi Dave, you know your one of a handful of craftsmen that have not only mastered wheelwrighting but overall knowledge of complete restoration of so many different types of horse drawn vehicles, I collect these types of vehicles hoping that I can repair or restore a few of them. I have some of your wheel repair videos from the early 2000 series. Always interesting and helpful. Back in the day I have to think builders or manufacturers had individuals doing specific jobs such as blacksmithing, painting, finishing or whatever. But you are skilled in all of those areas, very impressive. You and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

Good point about the diversity of projects in your trade and one I remember wrestling w/ early on in my career. 1st let me say that I was simply in love w/ woodworking. The idea that my father contracted houses from a young age to the knowledge that Jesus was a carpenter was good enough for me. But, finding the diversity was really satisfying as well. I found the plethora of things to master a means to keep my attention , where constant focus helped the time zip by and sleep come easy. I did have trouble w/ the idea that the electricians made more money than carpenters but required a small belt of tools as opposed to my large and expensive gang box full. I often felt that part was lopsided until reality hit me square and it was clear that diversity was much better than pulling wire through conduit all day or installing the same 150 switches at each and every job site for the rest of my life. Money certainly isn't everything and I believe I knew at a very young age that it wasn't what produced real happiness :) Thanks for the video and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. I can't find the words to explain the joy I have, that Jesus came down, w/ each of us in mind, to clear a path for us to be in His family. I pray that all those ignorant of His desire for us, somehow learn of it and are able to make that leap and join Him forever !! Sincerely, Steph
