I need to get a set of heavy dray wheels repaired, but a wreck interrupted my plans. A movie is being filmed the next day after the wreck broke a swing tongue, so the rush is on to meet their schedule. Building and restoring horse drawn vehicles often involves adapting to the most urgent need of the day. Thanks for following along!

Mr. Engels, your skills are exemplary. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The fact that the movie company knew who to come to for such a masterful repair tells me that your reputation precedes you. What a fine job!

It always amazes me how you get the irons first time. That rod bend right around to the width of the tongue, while heating and then it actually fits!!!. Truly you are a master of "Art To Part". Amazing video and work Dave!
@MrKotBonifacy
@MrKotBonifacy Год назад
When I saw this part at 13:13 my thought was "but where it's gonna fit, and how?" And then I watched the bending process, and thought "wow". That takes some skill to do it that way, and get it right... I mean, a LOT of it.
@brucematthews6417

Always fun to watch your videos. Even when it's one of those panicsville style quick jobs. I did smile at how you took the time to "clock" every nut square to the irons. It might be a rush job but no one is going to rush you by THAT much, eh? 😀 And a note to your video editor. These videos are always a great blend of talking and action. The pacing and proportioning between explanation/story and the sped up but not too fast action is really close to perfection. This is a big part of why the Engel's videos are so enjoyable. A big pat on the back to whoever is doing the editing and set the pacing.

Watching you form the iron that was missing from the end makes me wonder, "How many people would know they could do that?" Then I realized that's only a minor part of it because "How many people would know HOW to do that?" You welded a straight round rod into holes you drilled into a piece of flat iron. What you did next was unquestionably a work of art as you put a precise bend in the round rod. That blew me away. Your near infinite talents in working with wood and iron never cease to amaze!
