The bones are on the property and therefore belong to the land owner. I do believe they should be shown in museums and therefore the owner could be paid a reasonable amount. I don't think they should be greedy though so a reasonable amount is prudent! Thank you, wonderful video!!

I would definitely sell it! Nobody is denying the museums the opportunity to study such relics, but if they want to do so, they should pay, just like the rest of the world does. (They make us pay every time we visit a museum, right?! 🤔)

If it's found on my property, it is my property. I can sell it, keep it, give it away.

I think the remains should be given to a museum for research and public, But also the land owner and finder should be compensated in some way that everyone is happy.

I think I would be torn in this situation. I agree that fossils like this should belong to every one, but when you're struggling with money, it would be hard not sell it.

They’ve found over 10 specimens in southern Alberta Canada as well, so not only in those secluded locations.

i believe any moral question about what to do with ancient bones is up to the moral compass of the owner of the property. Legally such bones should NOT be confiscated by the government or any scientific entity.

You're wrong about the T-Rex only being found in Montana, S.Dakota and Wyoming. In fact they occasionally turn up in Alberta and recently "Scotty" the largest specimen ever found, was discovered in Saskatchewan.

I live in Hungary, in the middle of Europe. It is a very ancient history. It has been inhabited for thousands of years, and there are archaeological finds everywhere. Prehistoric, Hun, Avar, Celtic, Roman, Slavic, Hungarian, etc. But with us, if something is found on your land, you have to pay for it, because the state says it is in your best interest to take the find to use your land. So if you find something and report it, you can't use the land until it is unearthed. For example, your construction will stop. And if you want to be discovered, the artifacts are taken away, then you have to pay for it. That's why everyone denies that. For example, where I lived as a kid, it was a loose, ice-covered hill. In every 5th cellar approx. found mammoth bones. As a kid, I also had a mammoth bone pendant. Next to it is the Danube. Gravel miners are constantly finding finds. From mammoth skulls, Celtic weapons to coins. They are all sold to illegal buyers who export to other countries. Archaeologists, who are barely paid, often do this. The find is not sold, but sold. I think every cataloged artifact has at least a thousand that disappear. Unfortunately, this is such a country.

Wait, the t rex, the farmer agreed to %10 of whatever the scientists earned from anything he and his team finds, doesn't that automatically assume the bones would be sold? Otherwise what was the %10 supposed to come from? Regardless if it's regular payments of a portion of the ticket sales from exhibitions or a full on sale of the bones or even nothing if the bones were donated. The farmer should have stuck to the agreement!

I actually saw and touched the almost complete t-rex skeleton at a dinosaur museum in casper wyoming. The plaque said that it had been domated by some other museum for a limited time on display. Its was really cool.

In my country India, found objects of historical/scientific significance are property belonging to nation which means that the govt can confiscate such things. There was a period when people would find ancient urn full of gold coins while digging.

Come on it's a history thing not a show piece to keep in ur crib just to be an exclusive or unique person duh 😅.. if you keep at home someday or the other it will lose value or get accidentally destroyed .. but if it's in some museum it will be intact plus it will be well preserve or maintained or safe it seems 💯😊
