It also offers one method for those of us that might struggle making their first mark on a brand new white piece of paper. Confidence can be gained by starting with some detail instead of leaving it to the very end of your painting. Just to see some recognisable shapes in the early stages can help you overcome the fear of starting and go on to inspire you into feeling more comfortable while you work.
