I moved to Farmington in 76 to open Jerry's restaurant, I was 17 stayed 2 years it was wild, biker gangs,oil riggers,cowboys and natives. Wild fights. It was crazy and fun.

Farmington, New Mexico looks and sounds like a place to visit and live in.

I grew up in Farmington, left in 1990. I saw Return of the Jedi at the Allen theater. it was open WELL past the seventies.

Nice little video. I grew up in Farmington, and knew nothing about the bricks in St. John’s church. That said, the original Allen Theater was open well into the 1990s. Also, although you may have seen some anti-abortion signs, Farmington is one of only three New Mexico cities that has a Planned Parenthood.

I lived there in the 70s and moved away in the early 80s. My Mom still lives there. The Allen theater is where I saw the grand opening premier of Star Wars... 14 times. The 'swasticas' on the old Rexall drugs building ("Falling Waters") are reversed but no one seems to realize that. I worked at the "Allen Motor Company garage" when it was a Magnavox TV, stereo and musical instrument store. The original Navajho Trading Company was (I believe) owned by Janine Garcia, a friend of my dad's. My first ever job was at a Blake's Lotaburger (The one in Aztec on main street). "TJs Diner" Was Jerry's Restaurant". At one point there was a Greek guy named George who owned it and my dad was a friend of his. He got my little brother his first job there.... Lots of memories cruising mainstreet on Friday nights. Back then they did not have the traffic circles and we used to drag race right on main street and then run like hell if the cops came after us. It really was a lot like the "Duke's of Hazzard" back then. I collected tickets... I still go back to visit mom from time to time.

I can't tell you how many RU-vid videos of people exploring cities I've seen, where they film on grey, dismal, sunless days. Natural sunshine is always required to make ANY outdoor setting look good. And boy, you really did this town justice with all your wonderful filming, narration, and clever content! I especially am grateful, because I'm strongly considering moving there soon for my "golden" retirement years, and this video is very helpful! Thanks, dude!😉

Sunny the Big Muffler Man, hasn't always been where it is now. It was originally at what we called, "Big Daddy Dean's", which was the Western Tire Shop at the corner of Hutton and Main, which part was torn down and the rest remodeled, thus now a smaller business. The original owner was John, "Big Daddy" Dean, who passed away in 2014. If you look up John Dean's Obituary or google "Big Daddy Dean's it does show "The Muffler Man" as he originally looked.

That is it. The highlights are the memorial park and an antic shop.

Farmington was surprising nice when I visited, I really liked the Animas River park, its too bad only info about the mass shooting comes up now, it feels like people think its ghetto or something. thanks or the video.

In the mid-'80s, they put Dad's Diner up about 2 days after the concrete foundation was poured. The building is bolted together like an Erector Set in prefabricated pieces. It might have been moved from somewhere else but I'm not sure.

So, I saw Hank Williams movie in the Totah in 1957. “Your Cheating Heart “.😢

Where would someone who, say -- just hypothetically asking for a friend -- hates anti-abortion signage go in new mexico? I have been looking at Santa Fe, ABQ, Las Vegas, and everything in between. Really like Santa Fe, real reason I want to move there was visiting Santa Fe (ever since, I've felt like I just belong there,), it's not really in my budget, so I'm helping something similar might fit my needs?
