Farrah Fawcett's first Late Show appearance, here in better video quality than previous uploads. Plus Dave's show close with bumped guest Craig Kilborn.
I know what you mean... but only from the perspective of status quo pressure of having to express yourself like everyone else. Farrah was an iconic beautiful creature, original and unique and that difference should not have expectations to respond in a calculated way.
So sad she died so horrifically. Cancer doesn't discriminate. You can be the homely soap opera watching welfare mama or a beautiful Hollywood star. Makes no difference to cancer. And it's become an epidemic. The way to deak with cancer is to prevent it to begin with.
I played blackjack with her somewhere around 2005-2007 at Tropicana Las Vegas, she was super down to earth and very warm and loving. It's sad what happened
I loved her!!! I was 6 years old in 1976 when her poster became iconic.I watched Charlie's Angels from a child until it ended it's run.She was beautiful and a very talented actress ❤️ RIP!!!
I was 10 in '76, and I adored her too. It had nothing to do with her body. It was who she was before she got involved with Ryan. She had a magical charisma. Unfortunately, it doesn't really translate here. She does seem very scattered, and David's making the most of it.
@@TheSmartWay111 - at that time? Nah. There were much more available substances to rich people at that time, and she was alrady familiar with some of them before...
it’s kind of surprising to see how everyone is talking about how funny this is to watch, how much they love her etc…. people get a grip. she was a great person, but this is sad to see
You shouldn't be. These are fans just paying tribute to a beloved icon. Yes, she's a bit out of sorts in this video, but most people are just choosing to remember the best parts of her. A clever, funny, witty, playful person who endeared herself to the masses.
This seemed very Marilyn Monroe like. She was a beautiful and smart woman and she was struggling at this point. She was fun to watch and I admired her greatly for fighting Hollywood to be taken seriously as an actress. She was extremely creative and a very talented artist.
@@wandasewell4501 - Considering the overall body language, hands movement, tone of the voice, eyes movement, and multiple other things that are visible...? Definitely a mess. Just trying to keep it together, partly her being a pro, and being aware of the issue. But a mess underneath. As for having fun? Part of her maybe, but she knew that this is not normal. Hence trying to keep everything together. Quite visible behavior to any investigator, familiar with a body language, or a pro psychologist/psychiatrist. The signs are there, and you cannot make them more obvious (not during TV interviews, unless you go for somebody like Chris Farley - when it was obvious, even for blind people, that he was high during some of his interviews). edit: spelling/grammar
Moxie Pops Your comment is the only one that makes sense to me. All the others commenting think it was great. The woman was out of her skull and that crowd was laughing at her, not with her.
@@leswehman11 not at all. You don't act like that on coke. Besides she explained she was tired, had travelled and took very little sleep, and was very busy promoting so she went out and had fun. She was promoting Playboy not the National Geographics she later said.
Paul was right, she was fabulous. You can tell she wasn't doing too well here, it's still impossible not to love her captivating mix of attractiveness, girlish enthusiasm and self-effacement.
So true. None of this takes a thing away from her charm, intelligence and we loved her. Hollywood messed her up and it took many a sweet lovely woman and did it to them too
@@kevinbergin9971 No, it is one of Farrah's early abstract paintings before she became "famous". She passed it on after keeping it for many years. She was a strong and wonderful woman.
Farrah was not innocent. Posing for Playboy, whether clothed or not, showed how insanely degraded & promiscuous she was. And she screwed Mick Jaggar; that was the lowest common denominator.
I watched this live, by myself.....I kept thinking, is it me or is she a little high...BUT I must say, she was an excellent actor....RIP Farrah Fawcett You were amazing !
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe a prescription medication for anxiety/panic. Though I never knew she had any nerivos condition. She was certainly beautiful and a fantastic actress. Not given the credit that was due. Still hard to believe she's not here. RIP 💙
Beautiful Farrah Beautiful smile , I still remember that morning she passed than Michael Jackson later in the day & took away all the attention from Farrah . Farrah your are a beautiful shining star in my eyes RIP Angel
When Farrah died she met St. Peter at the gates of heaven and he told her that there was a tradition in heaven that people who have been special in their lives are granted one wish before entering and since she had been such a wonderful person on Earth she had been granted a wish. Farrah thought for a moment and said, "I wish for all the children in the world to be safe." An hour later Michael Jackson was dead.
I agree, she was doing a great job working the crowd. And funny as hell too, I just melted when she shook her head and rolled her eyes ! What a stunning beauty ! We Love you Farrah !
@@ws678ta well said my friend and what a sense of humor. She had me laughing out loud. And she is always put together too! Steve just wanted to share with you and I am too a big fan of Farrah Fawcett's since Charlie's Angel's.
Poor lady, not very kind of the host to let her go on air and make fun of her in front of the audience . 😢 However she still looked beautiful😊 and with good vibes...
Agree 💯%.. and very rude, mentioning the 12-step program. Sad, that her management let her go on the show in that state - and very bad behaviour by Letterman, imo
David Letterman is always funny but I tell you this one was Farrah fawcett was the funniest I could not stop laughing. Farrah fawcett's more dingy then I thought she was I can imagine she was very nervous very relaxing to have David Letterman he's so he kept the humor going.
@mediascribble - fame and fortune, and... drugs. A classic story from entertainment industry (movies, TV screen, fashion, sport, music business and so on). Applicable for anything related to entertainment since 1930s... or probably even before that. Edit: spelling
I heard from an interview with her college sweetheart, who remained in contact with her through the years and reconnected with each other in 1998. He said that with this interview, she was going through a great deal of stress with her son and some other projects. Thus, trying to be ditzy, which she really isn't. A defense mechanism
Classic defense mechanism. Exaggerated ditzy bit to cover the sadness that was enveloping her for the last several years. She looked truly gorgeous here but it's sad to know she was hurting so deeply and that things only got worse for her. Dave knew what he was doing - ratings at his guest's expense. He'd happily hand you extra rope to hang yourself. So different from Johnny Carson, not a gentleman...Cher was right about his character. But his ratings went off the chart when "What's wrong with Farrah?" made headlines the next day. She'd had a Xanax and some tequila, no food. I can't really blame her. So glad we have these interviews to remember Farrah. Check out the Barbara Walters interview in her home that was later destroyed in the 1994 quake.
I loved/love Farrah, still have that famous poster! She was truly underrated as an actress. But, on this particular evening... Somebody definitely got into the 'shrooms! 👀
She was high. Her second appearance she mentioned it. Context - Farrah never was on Letterman before this appearance. Had been a sex symbol her whole adult life and here she is, at 50 years old promoting a Playboy magazine where she has a nude pictorial. Obviously she needed something to get her through the segment. She isn’t the only celebrity to get high before a talk show appearance. Happened on Carson, Leno and O’Brien multiple times with various guests from what I remember. Letterman also had his share of “high” on life celebrity guests. Look up Harmony Korine who got banned after several strange appearances.
She was a very special Lady but why isn't anyone talking about how thin she was here. This poor lady was skin and bones. Look at her arms. You can literally see her shoulder joints! I hate that she suffered in life. She gave so much of herself.
I love Farrah show. I show I invented. With card board and pictures glued on she was my all. When Michael Jackson passed away they say it overshadowed Farrah but I'm sorry. To me it was Al about Farrah. Rip both
I viewed the whole interview. She was NOT high. She seemed a bit ditzy because the audience kept laughing at every little thing she said. Letterman is the most horrible interviewer, he's go attention deficit disorder it seems. He keeps making stupid cracks and interrupts her train if thought. As for the moment she looked at the backdrop, I believe she really hadn't focused on it until that moment and it appeared to be a he was on something. I really don't believe Farrah came across as an Einstein, so for her to get her thoughts out verbally might have been a challenge for her given the people that kept taking away from what she really wanted to say.
@Judy G She's as high as a kite. Go and watch other interviews of her. She's not normally like this. If you can't recognise when someone is high, there's something seriously wrong with you.
I remember watching this live. I was deep into an LSD trip when someone happened to turn it on, and I remember it made me feel geeked out and awkward for her! I was like omg, she's tripping out as hard as I am while on live TV! Poor girl! I felt a spirit to spirit entanglement with her on some conscience and unconscious levels, like my empathy was somehow a tangible entity and was my new superhero mutant ability, and I still feel people's moods and feelings and such....but then again, that could of all along just been the LSD, and that I'm still having those supposed free-buzz flashbacks like I was always promised but never received!!! Lmfao.
Lol it's kinda shocking that ppl don't realize that she's in drugs 😂 but it's cool. Im so happy to be seeing this...also, "thanks to Farrah Fawcett for almost here" lol
Yeah she is really wasted, but people don't want to admit it.. If this was their home life when she got their son, no wonder he turned out the way he turned. Redmond even says it himself. I am the way I am cause of my parents.. Still Farrah was so beautiful and adorable.
I would rank this high in the top ten most memorable interviews just behind the Madonna one but not even close to the #1 Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler event.😂
Only heard of this FF episode. I finally saw it tonight after how many years. This episode is hilarious but it doesn't compare to his interview withJoaquin Phoenix, the unibomber. That was the best! Even to this day, i would revisit it to get a good laugh. 😂😅❤❤
I remember seeing this live, thinking it was a mess. It's even worse now. Ryan Oneal's drama didn't help her. She seemed like a sweet person and of course had a tough end. This no longer was entertainment. Sorry to see this drag on. They could have ended after one segment. I just caught the thing Dave said about the 12 step program. It seemed everyone was in on the joke.
