To be fair, under 90% of circumstances that is a viable tactic for Astartes as their armor can reliably protect them from small arms and crew served weapons. The problem is that Tau and Necrons are two exceptions to that rule.
Cato Sicarius speaks in a high pitched, nasal voice and mentions his own name in every sentence. This is cannon. Doesn't matter how many IP claims James Workshop throws at us
It's anyone else tired of seeing astartes just being unga bunga at a xenos instead of just pulling their heads out of their asses? Suffer not the blood vessel to pop, holy shit..😂
@bottheskitarii8881 Yeah, very brutally as well. Tho to be fair, his response was correct. Big E was a total xenophobe, who do you think introduced the "purge the xenos " mandate?
@@WorshipperOfKhone normally theyd have a point but yes the emperor didnt care at all about alien life. sure he wasnt pro extermination either but he just didnt vaule anything other then human lives.
@@mariofan1ish tbf. the dudes got several lifetimes of whooping ass for a tau and has the greatest tactical mind of their entire species as an AI companion..it was kind of a given.
@@romanplays1 And most space marines are still older than him or his mentor with way more experience and still get clapped like that. Kinda shows the flaw in sticking to all these imperial doctrines.
@@FancyTophatDude Farsight is a warp enhanced MEELE Tau gigachad, what you expect?, the deamon blade he has enhanced his lifespan, he has a functional and developing technological faction behind him with solid supply lines for battle
Him and his enclave are the only actual good people in the universe. Like really good people. Like "stick them in an other universe and they'll fit right alongside the hero's" good.
@@mr.ashenfire2624 all Imperium leader need it. Especially space marine and Inquisition. Only guardsman are more or less OK (depend of the corps), even if their leader REALLY badly need it (and learn than proper "honor" is not to send soldier to death for nothing other than perceived pride)
Yeah the entire Daemoclese Crusade was a giant blow to Sicarius's ego. What was supposed to be an easy week of slaughtering weak Xenos became one of the bloodiest campaigns of his career as the Tau continually surprise him.
@@codysing1223We may never get it back but we should appreciate that it existed at all and should remember the joy it brought us and will bring to those that never experienced it.
I honestly think he's probably right in a more civilized time but the warhammer 40k galaxy is monstrous. But true honour is a rare thing to find in such a galaxy as well and should be preserved. Unfortunately many creatures take advantage of such noble actions. And don't hold themselves to such standards.
Not to mention, Farsight could have EASILY killed them all, he gave them the chance to leave, he gave them the dignity, “you are beaten, if we where monsters we would just have killed you, we aren’t the ones spiting acid and swearing”
@@dominusbalial835Too bad honour gets you killed in a setting that cares nothing about honour or kindness as it is easily brought up its also so easily brought back down in an endless tide of war and wickedry
Not just bullies, but war criminals too. In real life, attacking a medic or unarmed enemy soldier is considered a war crime, and Farsight basically explained a part of Geneva Convention to Ultramarine.
As funny as that is, emp's do work on ork tech because ork know certain things make tech stop working. Sorta like how ork dakka jams because all ork know that a gun will jam sometimes.
Personally the bit that i found interesting in that book (all of it was good but this bit stuck with me) was the breakdown of his tactics against orks. How he went for specific targets and put effort ibto denying them scrap.
@@carlzerris6566 that’s what i especially love about them. Because of their small numbers they make up in actual tactics. It’s interesting to read about a non space marine sometimes. It reinvigorates my love of the franchise to see other factions pulling weight. Hope the enclave gets to play a bigger role in the future.
You can honestly chalk that kind of thing up to in universe factors. Inconsistent make of things from forge worlds. Different forms of power armor. Hell even improperly oiled/maintained gear. Incense ash getting in the wrong place would make it difficult to move a joint.
Most can, but barely, thing is while yes they probably could mive they would be so slugish essentially anny force should be able to beat them plus we don't know the nature of the emp blast, as some devices will lock themselves in when they shortcircuit, maybe that's what happened, maybe the hydraulics locked it, in this case marine whould be completely stuck
He is a living meme, becasue- I, CATO SICARIOUS, AM THE GREATEST MARINE TO EVER LIVE, BECAUSE I, CATO SICARIOUS, AM THE BEST SWORDSMAN AND WARRIOR OF THE ENTIRE ULTRAMARINES CHAPTER AND I, CATO SICARIOUS WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY XENO TO LIVE, AND FOR EVERY FACT IT SPEATS, I, CATO SICARIOUS, WILL SPEAT ACID IN RETURN, BECAUSE I AM CATO! SICARIOUS
Sicarius: "Filthy xenos, you know no honor! You are but weak mongrels!" T'au: (Proceed to behave honorably and from a position of strength.) Sicarius: (Confused big brain noises)
TTS Emperor: Hahahahahaha. Kitten: How did ultramarines lose to Tau in melee? Shadowsun: Like how you lost to me little kitten, Your power armor ran out of batteries.
@asherkosmos4312 LockWarden: Love does indeed bloom on the battlefield. Santodes (whispers to himself): He should've listened to my advice to squat more.
both of those just sounds like the most peaceful yet agonizing “truce”! either being dragged/lifted one at a time by what few of your brothers still have operating suits while your enemies just watch or your enemies (who you are likely violently xenophobic against) dragging you to your ships. Rough day for the blue boys
The tau have their dark side I’m sure but compared to everything and everyone else in the 40kverse they are truly the most reasonable people you’ll ever meet
Common Farsight W. But I think this also hinted his path toward forming the Farsight Enclaves. He takes his honor, integrity, and principles quite seriously. Something the Ethereals could use.
seems like there setting the tau up for a future focused expansion. splintering the tau into three factions the farsight enclaves the imperial tau OG's and the Relgious Tau worshipping the new choas god of harmony.
he's threatening to commit war crimes in return against a force that had already been actively and deliberately engaging in war crimes, and choosing instead not to commit those war crimes to allow them the opportunity to leave.
yeah, I remember this going a tad differently when I read it. Farsight threatened to start killing the Apothecaries And the only reason the Marines left is the chapter master told them Tyrranids were at Ultramar
It’s the classic case of the Rules of War. If you yourself refuse to follow said rules, you are no longer protected by them. Farsight was pointing out how he was more than able to fight *much* dirtier if the Ultramarines continued fucking around, but he was specifically fighting honorably because he believed the Ultramarines were themselves honorable. . Also the call to get to Utramar for a bug hunt only came after Imperial forces were already negotiating to leave Tau space. Really the only thing those orders did was give the leadership a way to save face after getting their butts kicked
Marines in general can (mostly). I don't remember the name, but one of the organs implanted into a marine makes their saliva acidic. Helps in eating certain foods.
@@Zekrom249 Yeah, they can. It's actually the flaw in Dorn's geneseed. The Sons of Dorn (Imperial Fists, Black Templars, Crimson Fists, etc) cannot spit acid like the rest of the Astartes because of this geneseed flaw.
@TheManofthecross very often. The entire great crusade infact, considering most enemies were far superior to human weapons and that the heresy definitely would've made emp protection a must from then onwards.
She's the best friendly eledrich abomination. She understands mortals well enough to not fuck them up by the sheer act of sympathy. She's like a more active version of the Plane Doll, with somewhat diffrent themes.
You see Cato sicarius wasn’t at his full strength because he Cato sicarius the knight champion of macragge is not so easily beaten because he Cato sicarius would simply enter his cat stance and slay the xenos
Grimaldus: It should not matter if the armour is powered or unpowered when the killing needs to be done. Likewise, a powersword is still a sword when it's power field is not activated. Cato Sicarius: I hate that guy.
Numetor also signed Cato with his fingers ++Home. In. Danger. ++ as he'd received a pyshic comminication the Tyranids were heading to Ultarnar which is also why they accepted Farsight's truce
Cato Sick-aryan, always an extremist. Tho, i really like how they wrote his achievements and tales, his personality was written by an angsty teen obsessed with military movies.
"I, Cato sicarius, pride of the Ultra marines, think you're a little beach who can't understand all the nuances of the genius strategies of i, Cato Sicarius !" "I literally just decimated your troops mate, just go home please"
That is such bullshit. During the Knights of Macragge book, Sicarius and company get hit by an ultra powerful necron EMP. This does not stop him and his 4 brothers from BUTCHERING orks like its tuesday. Agaisnt kroot and Tau? They would have torn them apart like nothing, but I guess the Tau did need the win. Is Farsight right? A bit yes. Soace Marine honor is a weirs thing. Some chapters have shwon great deal lf honor. Grey knights returned soulstones to the eldar after cleansing a Craftworld from Slaneesh's demons.
I feel like being even slightly more slowed by your armor being shut down is a bigger draw back against the tau than it would be against orks. At least from what you've described.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 I mean, the Tau had also been hit by the EMP, so the orks were too affected by the Necron EMP. I dont know about you, but in bare fist fight, I will bet on the ork 10 put of 10 times. Space marines can still move very well inside depowered armor, and its still ceramite composite. I dont know rhe soecifics for the fight agaisnt the Tau, but Sicarious should have melted through them with fists alone. Power weapons ate still very sharp, even without the energy field.
I like the Ultramarines and I like it even more when they are humbled by those better than themselves, even though as Space Marines, they are unable to learn.
Cato Sicarius would be a great antagonist to other stories based on the Xenos or CSM. He's a hypocrite and considers other inferior to him while having skills to back it up.
“I, Cato Sicarius, believe you have no honor!” “I could easily kill you all and I’m refraining because it wouldn’t be right. You’d have killed me without a second thought. Who _really_ has no honor?”
