You tried that water jelly earlier, on a train ride. Per the instructions on the side, you only crunch the bottle when it's frozen, in which case you'd get a "sherbet" type dessert experience. If the bottle is just chilled, a good shake will do.
They have some of the oddest food's man, And I never felt full the the whole time I was there really. Which could be a good thing or bad depending on who you talk to. I'm 6'8 340 so the flight was a night mare. Next time I go ima make sure I get first class seats so I dont end up with swollen knee's before I even get off the plane. But meh, Dope place tho, Not much of a weeb so I don't get off on Anime like a lot of folks who go there. I was hyped to ride across Japan from north down on a motorcycle that hasnt ever made it to the US with some friends from there and look at all the cool shops they have. Even if im not a weeb I still end up with a lot of Anime shiz, And i shipped a massive box of Japanese game's and console's back. Along with tons of Yu-gi-oh card's and Pokemon card's/games/ect plushes and so on.. Only reason I don't call them Anime is cause everyone hate's when you do that for some reason......
I've noticed two things about dessert flavor-profiles in Japan. They're absolutely bonkers about ramune flavor, not saying that's bad (I frelling love Ramune) but that's just crazy how that is a common thing. And that their sweets aren't over-the-top and they're actually edible; the older I get (mid-30s) the more I appreciate Japanese sweets.
They are quite passionate around delicate sweet flavors, something much lighter than many in the West would consider "sweet", and I wonder if that is simply because their sugar, historically had come from sourced other than cane sugar (which was our main sugar source after honey, both of which are in the high sweet end). (I'm a sugar fanatic eben iny 40's, very much a product of my culture's obsession with cane sugar bsnd later high fructose syrups, both of which are too sweet to most who don't have the same cultural background).
@@mmecharlotte i think grape flavour was basically a "next best thing" to blackcurrant flavour, since blackcurrants are a vector for a specific fungus that decimated the native pine trees of america, because the ubiquity of grape in american sweets and drinks closely matches the ubiquity of blackcurrant in british sweets and drinks.
FYI - alot of elderly people who find that swallowing liquids can make them choke, so they use a thick and easy solution to turn there liquids in a jelly like state.. Very much like the water drink that DB pours into the glass..
@Bicth97 and it's truly a different texture. Jelly drink is nothing like thickened liquid. I'd drink a jelly drink any day but hope I never have to have thick water again. (To be fair I only tasted it as part of a lesson, not because of physical necessity)
Ive seen the grape one at my local asian market(which is an hour drive for me i live in the boonies). I might puck it up for my grandkiddos. We often try one new thing candywise. Usually poki or safe stuff i know they will like but they have been adventurous in choosing and grabbed the little fruit gel cups in tropical flavor. They liked them. Oh they love the Japanese make your own candy too. For Christmas the past few years ive grabbed a couple of the play with your food kits for Christmas eve dinner. After we eat we make the candy sushi or the color changing foam jelly. Even the adults like playing with them. The fizzy drink making kit was cool too.
I giggled like a fool when you bounced the raindrop cakes. And that first jelly drink looked tantalizing. Seeing that you uploaded makes my brain and stomach happy. I can never get enough of your videos
The two of you are the only ones I know of that travel with eating utensils and plates, your own water glasses and a digital timer everywhere you go. Awesome!
Well, it is a delicate sweet that pretty much anyone can access now that gelatins aren't restricted to hours of boiling plands or animal parts. It's one of the reasons the US had a weird "jello in everything" boom - plus jellies or gelatin can serve a lot for very little (another reason for gelatin salads here in the US). Honestly, I think if we hadn't profained it with savory dishes for so long and then religated it to kid's desserts, we in the west would have a larger live for the sweet - we just can't forget the horror of tuna gelatin.
@@Saitaina the reason they eat jello is because most japanese don't have access to good food. yes sure there is wagyu and fancy sushi but most normal people in japan eat mass created factory derived from soy/seaweed/gelatin. i won't be surprised is japanese start eating nutrient paste and start calling it honorable as part of their convoluted culture
I don't like jelly anything, BUT it's really cool to see the cool & different stuff that is offered in Japan! I'd probably still be willing to try some. Thanks for the video. I never tire of your uploads! ✌🏻
I love how fun they make them, I absolutely adore Japanese culture and the snacks they have. Foreign food and snacks are some of my favorite things so I always rush to the global snacks isle in stores.
The fact that the English is perfect makes the videos even better! You can tell that the person has some experience with English, even if they used google translate! Good job! Keep it on!
Your videos are always interesting and have made me open up to sorta liking Japanese culture more regarding food❤thank you for helping me appreciate the wider world more😊
I'm glad they have helped in opening you up to the world. Food is a universal that binds humans, it's one of the reasons most cultures have a "Freed the guest" style of hospitality - it's easier to break bread then communicate via garbled words.
@@astrooooo fym proof?? this bozo is widely known zionist racist p3do for grooming minors and cowardly hiding until the heat from his controversial shits died down. Mf got his ass deep fried on twitter years ago to the point where his sponsors backed away from his stanky ass. Were you born yesterday?
The raindrop cake and jelly water were the coolest! That raindrop was so cool, it looked like real water stuck in a drop form. And the water looked like it was caught halfway through a freezing process. TFS! These were awesome!
not convenient like it used to be before 2010 sadly. I know a lot of snacks and treats were fun back in the early 2000s for me as a kid and I used to see old commercials for other stuff just as fun. It’s a supply ratio issue I guess… :(
I think it’s just a cultural thing, many Americans would think some things like this are “novelty” or just weird rather than people in Japan which are exposed to this on a daily basis and it’s just a part of their consumer experience. This would also make things like this in America non profitable
INSTANTLY SUBBED cuz content like this is less heartwarming but stomach warming for me and I usually watch while I am eating because I don’t really feel a fill from food anymore due to a condition
I imagined you getting a good laugh out of how the rainbow cake just popped out perfectly the way it did! I did anyway. The Kirby drink was probably my favorite and I'm not even a Nintendo fan. Only in Japan, eh?
Which is sad because could you imagine the rush on these in the west? Stores would sell out in an instant from both Kirby fans and those of us eager to try new foods.
what's so amazing? everything is covered in plastic, full of preservatives and artificial flavors, has unappetizing textures and is served from a vending machine.
ok very nice video. I really like how he explains each one of the deserts and how everything in japan really just looks 10 times cooler than anywhere else
Agar agar is made from alge.... and it's dicey territory to critique any other countries on their "chemicals" in foods as we tend to lean heaviest in the preservatives category. (Let me be specific the USA)
Had to look up kinako as it was something I wasn't familiar with despite my years of studying asian cooking (with a Japan focus). I'm allergic to soy so my brain probably deleted the info, but I wonder if roasting it would denature it like soy sauce...hmm, must look into this. Your video was fun and entertaining, but probably not something I should have watched while hungry - now I want all of them. 😂
I immediately looked all these up in hopes there was maybe shipping from Japan somewhere but found nothing on all of them 😭😭 I really wish I could try these, they look so good. God I love Japan stuff and wanna visit so bad
