The accuracy needed to dig blind under the earth from 2 different directions and meeting in the middle with a requirement that both tunnels must not be off by just a few millimeters is incredible.
@StefanVeenstra
@StefanVeenstra Год назад
Indeed, always thought the Afsluitdijk was a feat, but at least they had surface level observation and a larger margin for error. Tunnels are even more impressive, besides GPS assist, there's also the height margins to consider. Don't want to drill through the sea floor and accidentally cause a flood.

After the phone company building was turned 90° in 1930, in 1987 in Romania a 7600 tons apartment building with all the people still inside was moved 55 meters (180ft) away to make space for a boulevard. Using a similar system of rails and hydraulics. Amazing!

I’ve installed over 17 miles of fiber optic cables and maintained them as other contractors yank them out accidentally or cut them during the installation of THEIR project. You have to go to a four month course to learn to repair the fibers individually so that there is >0.004% data transmission loss. Each repair takes forty minutes and requires perfect precision and steady hands. Then when you’re done if the data lost is too great…back you go (and you don’t get paid for the second repair)

The building in the last part of the tunnel in 48 hours through the main road above amazing and I'm gobsmacked at the Scottish canal boat lift which I first learnt about on here previously. This was a neat video. Between bridges through buildings, underwater, over land, etc, so much WOW. One little error in the video was where you mentioned the sun being 142,000,000 miles away. That SHOULD have been KM, not miles as on average it really is only 93,000,000 miles away. Otherwise, another incredible video. And Iove the little animations of the guy either being being amazed, scared, or skeptical of what's being shown. Keep up the good work. 😁
