My advice be you and only you don't be someone your not. Dress what you like if it's hype or not who cares. If it's outta trend who cares. Be you and only you no one can take that away
thanks man. i wear slim/skinny jeans, and months ago my friend said those stopped trending long ago. and i’m just thinking, this is just what i think looks good on me 🙃
@@theoneandonly7019 OFC, honestly you see still a lot of SLP boys wearing it still so it's good. I personally like sight to more wider cut of denim just as it fits my body better.
@@theoneandonly7019keep wearing those slim jeans fam your friend doesn’t know what he’s talking about I use to be into the slim look then I realized baggy fits my body way better and compliments me better I don’t think I will ever go back to slim but we will see and even if slim comes in trend again I am going baggy it’s all about experimentation folks forget that
@@theoneandonly7019 I used to wear baggy, all I wear now is slim fit since that’s were I found my comfort and matched my style. Whether it’s slim, skinny, or baggy, Keep doing you.
ima have to disagree somewhat with that first segment about thrifting, yes it is getting more popular, yes it is getting a bit more expensive, but to expect to find a gem every time you go in shouldn't be your mentality. "Sifting through the mid" is unfortunately part of the process; and although browsing online is much more convenient and popular as opposed to thrifting, these curated sites you talk about often charge the high, plus they don't have fitting rooms like the thrifts do. Some sellers might post the measurements of the garment, but not all. Finally, who knows what you'll find at the thrift, you can find a really cool, stylish 1 of 1 piece for the low.
I agree...thrifting has gotten so popular to a point where people are complaining about having to go through too many poor to mid quality clothing items but thats the whole point..thrift stores are considered thrift stores because the clothes there are donated and people either don't want or have a need for them..complaining about poor to mid clothing items in thrift stores is like complaining how everything in a high end luxury clothing store is too expensive
@@MrGrim504 we need the normies to feel like this so they could stop going and making it harder for the ones been doing this. Dont reencourage people just let them rock as long as you finding stuff thats what matters.
Trifting is only popular because of economic downturn. The same thing happened in 2008. Everyone was obsessed with trifting and then when 2010 came, no one was trifting anymore, they wanted Supreme clothes and other expensive brands.
I love how you mentioned that ALD mixes aesthetics and that you can do the same. I definitely love mixing the formal with the super casual as well. Opens more doors
If you’re a seasoned fashionista, 10yrs at least, there’s absolutely no problem seeking gems at thrifting. The key is to go to one that’s in a more affluent area. The one in my city absolutely sucks so I don’t bother there. But countless times, I’ve found countless pieces for a super fraction of the cost if sold at consignment stores or eBay. But you’ve really gotta have an eye to find the right stuff.
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon just be patient and keep a keen eye! Might needa plan a day out and try multiple spots. Literally just lucked out today at a Goodwill. Also copped some Yohji, but for that I “cheated” on Haight St. SF 🙊 it was still a steal tho! Good luck! Oh…and SUBSCRIBED!
I’m just too lazy and don’t care much about fashion anymore. My wardrobe is mostly basic essentials with mostly neutral colors. So now no matter what I put on it goes together, and it saves me time and money. Now life is so much easier.
I’m here now - full circle. Too busy doing things away from social media, parenting, etc. to care now that I’ve found pieces that work for me. I still watch content every now and then to remind myself why I got out when I did.
getting advice from the internet is not the way to find your style. learn to really know when you love a piece. dont worry about what might match or what wont. just get the pieces you love and leave anything youre not 100% crazy about in the store. only thing that matters is that youre comfy with what you’re wearing. the more natural and comfy you feel the better you’ll look regardless of the clothes :)
It's hard to take fashion advice from someone wearing a logo on their hat, text on sweater, and a graphic tee. Just way too busy. I mean, you do you, but there are certain compositional rules to aesthetics related to our neurological wiring, and focusing on the evergreen fashion advice and understanding the science behind timeless looks will do a pretty good job of tripping the appropriate dopamine circuits.
I’m tryna focus more on building nice basic accessories I’ll actually reach for. As a girl I love jewelry, and have a lot of outrageous pieces that are so sick, but like gcds earrings that are too heavy to truly wear throughout the day 😅 but I just wanna wear some hoops and a lil nameplate most of the time. So much jewelry for all genders is complete shit with tarnishing, I feel like it’s hard to find the quality I might want in the type of design I want , and then of course there’s the $😂
Anybody else cringe when you see other people dressing up just for tik tok? One of the most corniest things you can do in your spare time smh can’t even take a selfie with out giving up.
It’s such a weird time. One minute if you want a personal style you are considered a gate keeper and corny. If someone just goes with the trends they’re a hype beast who’s corny for not having their own style. Now places that actual subversive cultures as well as lower class people were able to find fits (goodwill) is being called overrated it’s weird. no one should listen to anything. I had a single mother and goodwill and other second hand stores were literally how I had winter coats to keep me warm during the winter. I hate that rich and upper middle class people destroyed shopping for people who actually need these stores for everything. Idk it’s all confusing. I feel like everyone should just stay in their lane and wear what they actually enjoy. Every content creator ends up saying “be yourself” but I don’t think people mean it anymore.
I will always love thrifting fam, it’s about the thrill of the hunt for me, and getting outdoors I was born in the 80s and used to get cracked on for going to goodwill now it’s hot too funny how things change side-note don’t sleep on garage sales some of these old dudes be having heat laying around haha
Despite watching lots of fashion youtubers, this video was so real and straight to the point, I can't even pray a word on it. It is what it is. Be who you are, and sail away.
My friend says i dress like a Japanese girl (i'm a guy btw), but i'll be damned; 'cause he still thinks it looks good on me. oh, and for reference here's what i wear: - Hand-me-down pleated wide black/grey trousers/ two wide fit Levis, one dark blue and heavy, and the other someone else's stonewash project; almost white in color, but it's real comfortable! - Hand-me-down white dress shirt. (this and the trousers are my base fit) - Red/grey/beige/black and white stripes/blue/yellow sweatshirt. (quite flexible as you can tell) - Casio A-158/vintage Seiko from my gramps (w/ a grey german NATO strap)/ thrifted G-Shock gravity defier. - Thrifted denim jacket, some turkish brand, really good quality tho; i'd say almost on par w/ my heavy Levi's i mentioned before. (oh, and they're cropped quite a bit, pretty nice for layering!) - Vans checkered slip ons (for non-walking heavy trips)/white Asics Gel Kayanos (for comfort and response)/New balance fresh foams (for more cushioning)/Adidas. lots. of. Adidas./etc... - usually carry a messenger bag or a slim profile bag, which cost quite a lot. (Tony Perotti 200$, Piquadro ~300$, Tumi 620$, Case logic 20$, Samsonite ~200$) (but of course: they're all thrifted) P.S: these are things that i've accumulated over 3 years, it's a slow process; and good things come to those who wait. Edit: sorry for the (semi) brag about the messenger bags; got a little excited there.
Dude thank you again for saying the quiet parts out loud. I'm still relatively new to the fashion world and I always constantly feel pressure to buy pieces or risk feeling "left behind" especially when it comes to different seasons and what's trending for the year.
I can definitely relate, Dominick. Watching all these fashion guys I look up to, can make it feel like a competition to dress to someone else’s standards. Wear what you like and have fun with it bro👌
At this point I just use my fav brands lookbooks to determine where I want to go. My biggest issue is the filters people uses on products that make it look different from in person
As someone who works in a screen printing company/fashion industry... I care less and less about brands and buying trendy stuff lol its weird being in an industry, makes you believe that fashion doesn't really matter lol
the problem with fashion is that no one has an identity anymore, everyone wants to use supreme, use a fake dunk of a rare model, they became real life npcs
Your height is irrelevant, you can find pants and shirts that fit your measurements and your preferences. Figure out if you like a relaxed, slim, boxy or standard look on clothes. Take some slightly oversized clothes to a tailor and have them bring it in and taper it to your body and see if that confirms how you want clothes to fit and then aim to have them fit those measurements.
Finding some style influences who are a similar height might help as well. See what you like on them and figure out how you can replicate similar looks
That first tip is conditional. Idk what it's like in other countries, but I've gotten a shirt that costs 100€ for 5€, pants that cost 100€ for 2€ and 1€, converse chucks for 2€ and a bunch of tour tees. In total I've sprent like 30€ on clothes that would have cost me 500+ new
@What’s The Hype mostly fast fashion sites or depop, you can only thrift from small charity shops which rarely have anything good, or expensive thrift shops in trendy areas
Yeah that is a great feeling! I still think in person thrifting can be great, but I’ve seen a lot of content that underplays how difficult it can be to actually find the good stuff
I think having an accessory like a watch is good to have in multiple color ways. I bought 3 Timex T80s in 3 different colors so that I could match which ever one looks better with what I’m wearing. They’re very good toppers to whatever you want to wear!
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon it took some looking around for the type of style I liked but once I found the specific item I just went to their website and found that they make other cool looking pieces I might pick up later on. Tbh I got tired of my old Apple Watch and having to charge it all the time.
