@@THEMODELGENE I 100% agree with everything you said about the covers, the one thing that really annoys me as an Australian is when Australian vogue decides to use some crappy stock looking Photography rather than the amazing Australian photographers, models and designers for the cover. Your channel is one of my favourite fashion channels to visit, please keep up this amazing work.

Another great Monthly re-cap. I really enjoy your insights. For me, the the CR logo placements just prove that sometimes, edgy and unconventional can also be thoughtless and self indulgent - some of those images are lovely, they deserve more respectful typography.

I always love these videos :) My least favorite cover was the Vogue Italia one...cutting the horse out was just a weird choice and there was so much more you could do with it. I agree with your favorite cover. Keep these coming!

Comments on Model Gene Hey, Marco, That FKA cover confuses me. Shape, color, flow, my eye just slides by almost in self-defense. The Marceau cover aspires to a '60's graphic style, but the lighting seems too soft. Vogue Portugal just destroys all comers again. I don't know if it's your praise or the covers themselves, but they never falter in your videos. We agree on the Vogue Japan cover. Anon's left hand solidifies the whole thing. Your alternate cover has a more subtle use of checkerboard lighting than the Numero covers you lambasted last month, and it's much better executed by Heji Shin. Were those Juergen Teller covers shot on an old iPhone? A 6 or 7? What’s clever about the Zufre close-up cover is that the dappling occurs just in the middle of the face. That’s good if accidental, great if intended. Speaking of Vogue Brazil, is that the same dress as the FKA cover? The landscape cover does a better job with the background than last month’s Taylor-Johnson shot; more successfully deliberate. I like the Aaron Pierre cover for Man About Town more than you do. Putting the shadow of the frames over Pierre’s eyes creates a nice slice of contrast below the brows. It could be a bit lower to completely obscure the eye, but there’s a tiny glimmer of iris there peeikng out. It livens up an otherwise perfectly fine portrait. As for the Hero cover by Matt Healy (the Tortured Poet?!), I prefer the slight underexposure. That shirt looks like it ordinarily has some bright colors and they would have overwhelmed the simple composition. Underexpose, unify the colors a bit by sliding them all towards the grays, and it balances out.

@@THEMODELGENEShe is attractive, and I too hate the fake celeb/influencer thing. I hate to sound like a gatekeeper, but tabloids, TV and social media made some of the worst people into "cewebrities". Then again the 80s social pages/register of the NY Times was how we lived and died.

@@TimHunold As a model scout, I just find the hypocrisy the most annoying. There is an impossible standard set for models, but then all that goes out the window if Piergiorgio likes your mom being dramatic on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Yolanda Hadid quits the show, then her daughters start booking all these high fashion jobs. Lisa Rinna quits the show, now Amelia Gray is booking these jobs. Alas, all I really care about is beautiful lasting photography, and using these instagram models cheapens an image

Alasdair McLellan is who I saw as carrying Peter Lindbergh's torch, and when he works with his type of model, the work is incredible, but he has become the go-to photographer for trying to "humanize" the instagram models and I hate it. It is ruining his legacy.

Juergen Teller is interesting in the 90s his photography seemed chic and naughty/sleazy a mix of Mario Testino and Terry Richardson. Now it just looked boring and flat. I don’t get why he is so beloved in the fashion industry.

Once you are a famous photographer, you stay famous regardless of the work. Penn and Avedon kept pushing as they got older, the next generation didn’t.

I think the classification of Bella Hadid as an 'Instagram model' is a little bit unfair. Sure she's a nepo with a big following but I think she's worked enough in high fashion (although no runways in recent seasons) to separate herself from the likes of Emily rata and Hailey beiber

If you delete their social media and they would stop/ never have been booked, that’s an Instagram model. Doesn’t mean she is ugly, just that her entire value is from an online presence. I wouldn’t consider Hailey Bieber an Instagram model because I wouldn’t even consider her a model.

There are people who do. Besides these magazines exist in the online version, thanks to this channel we can find out about magazines we didn't even know exist, about great editorials and trends in fashion photography.
