@@DaudYazdan it was in my folder of covers to discuss, but like a lot of covers I don’t discuss, it felt very average. She is so incredibly beautiful and yet I don’t see a lot of photographers capturing her to her full potential.

Thank you for doing these, it’s definitely not easy doing what you do, for a beginner/intermediate photographer trying to improve, your feedbacks are very helpful. But I have to admit you are one tough critique 😂 even photos I thought were great you literally destroyed them

I'm glad you find them helpful! I think so much can be gained by analyzing what works and what doesn't work in a photograph, regardless if I am a fan of the photographer or not. The september covers video will be out in a few days :)

I have previously, the cover of Apo Whang-Od is one of the best covers of the year! There are a lot of magazines so I like to do the "Big Four" and then others that give me a big reaction, either positive or negative

How did you learn how to analyze magazine covers? I would love to learn that skill.

Thank you for your question. My advice is to learn as much as you can about different areas of interest and research what came before us (check out my videos on fashion photographers if you haven't already.) My journey with fashion photography started with reading fashion magazines as a kid and taking a class in photography in high school. When I went to university for architecture, I started drawing/painting portraits by copying images from fashion magazines. When I moved to Paris, I started doing street style photography and going to shows, then starting doing styling and assisted on shoots for Harper's Bazaar, L'Officiel Hommes, 10Magazine. I did an MBA in Luxury Brand Management and then worked at the fashion PR firm KCD Paris before moving to NYC to work at my first modeling agency. As I started my own modeling agency, I worked a few months as a photography junior producer at Jed Root.

@@THEMODELGENE thank you for replying, as we speak I have Annie Leibovitz, Helmut newton , and Horst p Horst photography books. So I do take heed to your suggestion of doing my research and things of that nature. You say you worked for a couple of high profile magazines. What would be your suggestion for me to become a photographer for those types of magazines such as vogue, bazaar, etc?

@@TheAffluentDon The best way is to assist other photographers who are already working with those magazines while developing your own portfolio on the side in order to build a personal relationship with the magazines. The stronger your own work is and the more people you meet in the industry, the more likely people will think of you for their upcoming projects.
