Excellent commenting on the vogue cover of the original supermodels. You’re so right - it’s completely disrespectful to photoshop away their absolute gorgeousness.

I can tell Linda isn’t thrilled about it, I haven’t heard anything from the others but she has been talking about her hate for retouching a lot lately.

I literally look forward to these cover battle videos! Love them! I totally agree with you on the intense level of retouching and editing. It is unnecessary and unrealistic. I think my least favorite is the Dua Lipa cover. Couldn't even tell it was her and it was just boring. I think my favorite are the Vogue Portugal covers. Thank you for this video!

Hi Noah, thank you so much for the nice comment. In writing, the rewriting process is crucial to the success of any book, but I think looking critically in photography is often skipped. So much can be gained by analyzing why something is successful, what went wrong, or what can be improved.

@@THEMODELGENE I agree with you that the vogue Arabia covers are extremely strong! I’m also confused by the amount of covers that are supposed to be “artistic” I don’t actually flatter the subject. What is this trend?! Also it’s gross but you know I love the Aaron Taylor Johnson cover because I’m a simp for him

Thank you, I try to evaluate the work from many different angles. In 2015 I started my own model scouting agency, but my love for photography started in high school. I studied architecture and then an mba in luxury brand management, assisted as a stylist, interned at the PR office of KCD Paris, I also do retouching and shoot my own models 🙂

I'm glad you called out the British and US Vogue cover. For me, it shows exactly how far the fashion industry has disintegrated under Wintour. There's absolutely zero creativity left in the fashion industry it's all about branding and smoke and mirrors which is all to do with Wintour and her influence, all you have to do is look at her 'uniform'. She has way too much power and it's destroyed the industry yet made some people crazy rich by creating logo mania... As for Enniful, he is just a one-trick pony, he was a mediocre stylist at best who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Couple with the fact that there is none of the new breed of photographers that can replace the old guard, each and everyone is formulaic. Please please please Grace Coddington, COME BACK!

During promotion of her photobook with Meisel, Linda spoke out against the horrors of retouching, I just wish the woman put out a united message condemning what had been done do their faces on that cover. Enninful had some fantastic moments, like his debut cover of British Vogue, but when I look back at this year, it was not very consistent.

@@THEMODELGENE The one with Adwoa Aboah? The reason it looked so good (now) is because it basically mimicked the style of Diana Vreeland for either US or British Vogue in the 60's. You look at Enniful's work, it always lacks any kind of personality, it's very formulaic. I don't know who was to blame for the mess of what should have been an iconic cover, but you're on the ball about the Peter Lindeberg cover, it displayed personality in buckets, something this cover doesn't have. You have such a great channel

I try not to feel guilty about it, but I love when Meisel is doing Avedon, like with that cover with Adwoa. Even if he is pissing me off lately, I think Alasdair McLellan could have done a beautiful cover of The Supermodels, something more honest and soulful.@@colbucks

I would have said Glen Lurchford, but if you want strong Glamazon being futuristic... Nick Knight! But Alasdair is a great shout, there's something really intimate about his style! @@THEMODELGENE I would love to know your thoughts on Jurgeon Teller?

Glen would have been great as well! Juergen looks like he would be a really fun family friend that you see at birthdays but I've never thought, " I wish they hired Juergen Teller to shoot this." The Loewe campaign that recently came out with Maggie Smith and Greta Lee; they could have grabbed anyone off the street and asked them to take a few photos on their phone with the same result, but having his name attached gives it prestige. @@colbucks
