Are you sure that's fabric in the Porodina Italia cover? She loves to light paint and that technique gives that look. If it's a fabric, it's a very clever way of reproducing part of her signature. Maybe it's fabric layered with painted light? There's a different shot from that shoot that's arguably aiming for what I'm suggesting. It looks like cellophane fireworks. Same model. Definitely my favorite of the month that you shared. The Valetta cover's processing gets a bit of a boost from Valetta's resemblance to Lauren Hutton. 70's icon grounds the 70's softness and hat. You're right about the hat's angle, providing crucial contrast to help frame the face. The stray lock of hair makes the whole shot. Hopefully something accidental, since those moments provide such a thrill during a shoot.

I definitely see that Lauren Hutton inspiration as well. I hope Valletta keeps working as long as Hutton, they both are aging so beautifully.

@@THEMODELGENE This may be a weird coincidence. I looked up Serge Lutens' Shiseido campaign on Google. As I often do, I then went to Amazon to see if there are any Lutens monographs that I might add to my collection. My quick initial impression of the Shiseido campaign was that it looked a bit like Patrick Nagel's famous '80's illustrations. When I turned to the Amazon search results, the first one is for "Serge Lutens: Berlin a Paris," edited by Nagel Patrick! Now, the editor's name is the reverse of the illustrator and Nagel seems to have died well before this book's publication in the early 2010's. But, still!

V Magazine covers are striking...really? This is the worst photoshoot of the month - lack of creativity, makeup is off and the styling is cringe. Feel really sorry for LE and SK.

@@venkonikolichev Striking in that they stick out in comparison to most fashion covers but I agree, not great work! I loved Klein’s work in the early 2000’s but feel like something is off now.

Not so much about the covers but I love your critiques on the covers. Most young people have nothing to say about fashion as their IG status is all that counts, yet you sure do.
