Hands down the most detailed video on this topic 👏🏽👏🏽. Any tips though on how to navigate to a view/edit form? Or update the content in the command bar like you suggested?
Brilliant, this video not only targets the basic inclusion of the Data Grids but explains master and child records display by enabling sorting for the related grid. This gives me insights into where to look to explore the Data Grid properties with code.
Thank you - and thank you for watching ☺️ would love to hear how you get on! You can learn some more advanced uses of the DetailList starting with this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cJZpOkoOwks.html Hope this helps!
Really loved the video and you went super fast but there is a pause button and for those of us that need to process that is why it is there. Do not change the pace for me. Really did a great job describing the components and how to use them. Thank You
Thank you! 🤩 And thank you for watching - I’m so glad you found it useful. It’s good to hear feedback like this - I do try to find a balance between speed/depth/breadth of detail😊
I always enjoy your descriptions. I lost interest about halfway through as you got into the fidgety definitions of the table. It was good to see there are lots of options. - thanks
Hi Jeff - thanks for watching and the feedback on the fidgety (great word!) stuff - it’s always a difficult balance between details and high level entertainment factor! Thanks again ☺️
Awesome video! Very informative! Thank you. One question though. How do you make it editable? I set the Display mode to edit but still would not let me edit.
Managing events seems like a lot of work! In your specific example, you have two DetailsList controls. If I were handling this use-case for a client, I would consider joining/aggregating those two lists into one table, first and, then, displaying/handling only one in my App. It means less coding.
Once again excellent content Scott! I really have to explore that ceator kit now! Your channel is full of the more advanced and complex possibilities the power platform gives to us. 👌
Hi Scott, awesome explanation, very enlightening, i do have a question regarding image icon columns tho, i cant work out how to change the colour of an icon in the grid.. all of the examples shown in the help topics show a coloured check icon (blue and orange) but every attempt i make they always display black...any ideas?
Awesome work and video 😃 Why does it often feel like we’re stretching out each new technology to do things we need but if feels overly complex at times 🤔 Beautiful work 👍
Informative video again Scott! Learned some new things again. 😃 Can you do a video where you make the columns dynamically visible, like in model-driven apps, with the 'Edit Columns'-button?! This could be possible by holding a local collection of available columns, I think.
Thank you Scott, I have a question, is there a feature you can use to make this grid editable?. I'd love to have an editable grid like the ones available on model-driven apps from dataverse. I've seen a lot of videos using galleries and input elements but that's not what I'm looking for.
Thank you! ☺️ The fluent details list has a number of fixed elements such as the row height, so it doesn’t allow you to change the font size. See github.com/microsoft/powercat-creator-kit/issues/185 thanks again for watching and subscribing 🤩
Please keep making these videos, I learned so much. But how do I open the account or contact person by double clicking in the details list, like the normal model driven behavior?
Hi - thank you those kind words, and for watching and subscribing! You can open the record by adding the following to the OnSelect event of the Details List - Navigate(Self.Selected)
awesome video as always, Scott! it doesn't seem to work on custom lookup fields though, i am unable to display on the grid. is it a bug on the component?
Lookups should work without AddColumns - you would need to ensure the related table is added as a data source and the correct field name is used in the column configuration.
Hi Scott, Great video, I'm trying to create a POC of a custom page inside a model driven app and want it act very similar to the list there already. Is there an way to use the link column (ColCellType: "link") and have the onChange event open up that record/row inside the model driven app. i.e. open up the account record when they click on the Account Name column (which is a link). Thank
Great video. I'm using it in a project currently and I find it tricky to update the list after a record having been edited in a form (that has was navigate to with a double-click). The main command bar have business rules that are enabled/disable dependent on the record selected. I find that I have to refresh the entire page for the changes to be recognised.
Hi Scott, thanks for wonderful tutorials. I am stuck with detailist. My major problem is with People field in sharepoint list. I am unable to find a way to show display name or mail id in the list. 2nd, it do not allow to copy data, most user complain about this 3rd, TotalRecord property alway show - 1 Any help if possible. I would be more than happy if I could get a solution to show people field display name
Hi! Thank you for watching and your support ☺️ yes there is a preview grid that is using the same grid as model drive apps - learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/controls/modern-controls/modern-control-table I’m looking forward to it coming out of preview! 🚀

Hey Scott great video. I'm having trouble showing lookup columns that come from a SPO List. Have you encountered a similar situation or does anyone know how to approach this problem?
Hi - thank you and thanks for watching ☺️ to get the SharePoint complex types in as columns you’ll need to convert them using AddColumns - see github.com/microsoft/powercat-creator-kit/issues/111

@@ScottDurow Thanks a lot Scott! And congratulations for your great content (and the effort put that comes with it of course)
Thank you for watching - in this video it does show how to include primary contact - which is a Dataverse lookup. It’s important to include both the main table and also the referenced table as data sources in your app.
@@ScottDurow My lookup column also doesn't display. I have added all the required tables as sources for the app. Both my Header and Reference table are custom tables. Any ideas? My Fluent Details List component is Ver1.0.19.
I have one “side topic”. I stopped using flexible heights/widths as of containers as they were causing some rendering issues. On slower machines, when users were entering into a screen, the containers were adjusting to the screen size. And in a result, we had an effect of controls jumping on the screen.
It would be interesting to look at some optimisations on this resizing to avoid as far as possible - do you see less jumping when you manually position the controls using the App width etc?
@@ScottDurow Yes, the difference is easy to spot. Currently my approach is to switch off flexible properties and inherit the size form the parent - Parent.Width/.Height. To put more containers and keep proportions between them, I just multiply parent size by the factor (Parent.Width*0.6, etc). It works pretty smothly even on quite slow PCs, but requires quite a lot effort on development when screen gets complicated or if I need to force minumum size. However I am wondereing if I am not overcomplicating things and there is more optimal approach. :)
I'm so confused. My typescript/react skills are more valuable than ever to create pcf components. But canvas apps are coming for my cob. And AI is coming for my job! But no, it just seems like demand for these skills are higher than ever 😅
