I found out after a big meal with some carbs , a 30 minute walk will prevent the spike . This is my approach after pizza . Keep doing these vids. They help out a lot. I am shocked with double big Mac results . I will try it .
I absolutely love how your videos are straight to the point. No extra talk fluff. Just giving us the goods. Thank you for all you do Merry Christmas to you. ❤️😉👍🏽
Drinking a glass of water with two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of Metamucil before and going for a 30 minute walk after eating a Big Mac meal or a personal size pizza will slow down the absorption of carbs and reduce the sugar spike. It works for me
Thank you for doing this. I talk to my husband about choices at restaurants, and he won’t listen to me, but he definitely listens to you.!!! he went from a 6.5 A1c to 5.1 but it’s taken a lot of hard work. I do give you a lot of the credit. So, just so you know, this sounds overboard, but you are actually saving lives. 💐❤️✌️
Get a thin crust pizza with light sauce, all the veggies and beef + pepperoni. Eat half of it with a side of broccoli. Then 2 days later airfry the other half and compliment it with a kale/spinach salad
Omitting the processed carbs, added sugars (especially in beverages) makes a HUGE difference inside and out. Great channel helping folks to make sensible choices.💫💫✨✨
Thanks for making these kinds of videos. They are very useful. They would be better if you showed the numbers on both the vertical and horizontal axis for each food. That way we would know exact by how much the blood sugar spike was and the amount of time the spike lasted. Thanks.
I stopped consuming juices and soda for over 10 years. i stopped eating fast food for over a couple of years, and i feel better healthier. My hormones are balanced, and i lost a lot of weight, but sometimes i eat from McDonald's, but i order a big mc without the bun and the fries and instead of soda i order sparkling water ❤
You looked sleepy during the reveals. It is just remarkable what bad foods do to our bodies. Its only taken me 76 years to realize it especially the bad effects from sugar. God help us all! Thanks for your input. ❤
Agreed. What we feed our bodies in our teens and 20’s will catch up with us in time. I used to eat a LOT of fast food due to stress in my early to mid-20’s. Now I’m in my mid-50’s and suffered a heart attack and had open heart surgery. Had I known what sugar, salt and stress would do to my health down the road and if I could have avoided this situation, I would have changed jobs at that time, eaten a vegetarian or Mediterranean diet and focused on exercise and sleep as priorities. Imagine, I could have avoided all the pain I’ve been through in the past 2 years!
This video was super helpful! It showed really well what foods can make our blood sugar go crazy. I'm not diabetic, but I'm trying to be more careful about what I eat. I just finished nursing school, and that made me realize how important it is to eat healthy.
I love all your videos. Especially this one on how to improve what we eat to get better results. Thx so so much. I love that your fling these more often I get excited when I get notified of a new one. My life is better because of you
I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I keep learning day by day. I recently stumbled upon your videos and they are absolutely helpful and make me feel better. Keep up with the content and thank you so much !
I had to do something about the way I used to eat. I would eat just about anything and everything out there. I'm 55 years old, and I was at my heaviest weight, pushing 350 pounds. I have been on a very strict healthy keto for 1 and a half years now, lost over 100 pounds, and finally, after 25 years on prescription medication, I'm off all of them. Honestly, I don't ever remember feeling as good as I do now. I discipline myself and restrict all the bad unhealthy foods out of my diet. I personally never thought I would be able to give up my old eating habits, but I did and I know it works, if wanna achieve something in life you can do it and put your thinking cap on.
When we crave pizza I make one with a cauliflower base. 2 cups grated cauliflower, 2 cups mozzarella cheese, 2 eggs and mix. Put onto grease proof paper into 450 oven till light then put toppings and grill
Thanks for your precious videos. I don’t have Diabetes just trying to shed few kilos. Your channel provides me the insight for the key to weight loss and the food those causes glucose spike. A wonderful guidance for sensible eating. God bless you !!!
We quit going to corporate restaurants (chipotle, panda express, olive garden etc) and fast food restaurants years ago. Once in a blue moon we may deviate and when we do you sure can feel it and it just reminds us of how bad the food is. When we do, we patronize local family run restaurants supporting locally and not the three piece suits of corporate. What a eye opener your video is.
Thank you for your videos in which you teach the viewers to pay attention to the food ingredients about sugar levels and take care of their health. I follow your programs regularly. Good luck.
I'm thrilled to hear this! I love Chipotle. Haven't been there in ages. The very first location before it was bought out was walking distance from my home!
One strategy I use to reduce junk food consumption: I mentally evaluate the short enjoyment of the meal vs. the long workout afterward to keep the BG from damaging spikes. It just ain't worth it to me. Not to mention the massive lipids do long term.
Love your content but please do put the blood glucose numbers spikes what your starting mark was before the meal and after....it's very helpful to know for each food.
Enjoyed the video. I take off and discard the top part of the bun when I eat fast food & that seems to help me-along with drinking water. And I substitute fries for cole slaw when available.
Thanks for doing the hard work for us! I love watching your videos. I have type 2 and learned fairly soon that the foods that raised my glucose level to the point I was feeling badly just weren't worth ii. I try to stay away from all sugar and have been able to stay at the same dose of Metformin for years.
I learned I had Type 2 when my feet started burning and didn't stop for a week. Went to the doc and A1C was 7.7. 13 years later, feet still burn every single day - in fact, pretty much all the time, but worse at night, say after 9pm. It's been horrible, but ice water helps a lot. Daily 2g of metformin and 4g of glimepiride helped keep A1C at 6.2 last blood test (despite my typical voracious eating). Great channel!
Maybe voracious eating isn't so much the problem as much as eating too many carbs and sugars. If you can tweak your meals to increase protein and non-starchy vegetables, while cutting your carbs to 1/4 of what you would normally eat, you might learn to like it better. High protein usually curbs appetite, too.
My a1c was 10. I do not take medicine. Stopped soda and sweet tea. Drink water with lemon or unsweet tea. Slowed down on sweets and potatoes. I still eat some though. Just dont go overboard. I dont eat first meal till past noon. I take a cinnamon capsule before each meal and wait 30 minutes after eating, then walk briskly around my yard for 10 minutes. a1c is down to 6.1. Im happy with that. Small changes. No meds.
These videos are very useful for diabetics, however it’s important to highlight that other factors interfere in this equation, like exercise, stress, other medication, etc. It’s like you referred: it also depends of the metabolism of each person. Thank you for sharing your experiences! 🙏
Your work is VERY helpful. I love learning more and more about Blood Sugar levels. You are very good looking AND IM going to send you some Nail Clippers!
Great content. Although individual results will vary from person to person, I think it is fairly safe to say that the vast majority of people would show a similar blood sugar response trend to these. My takeaway from this video is that a low carb, high protein meal at lunchtime, satiates hunger for longer without the horrible drowsy after effects that can ruin afternoon work performance. I also agree with the comment that a 30 minute walk after a meal lessens the blood sugar spike impact.
Personally, I find that a Bic Mac meal really spikes my BS, whereas a Whopper from Burger King or a Double Burger from Wendys will not. I was quite surprised. Also get some symptoms if my BS is high - my legs below the knees feel tingly, and I feel tired but somehow restless at the same time - this makes me want to sleep but also be unable to because of the discomfort. Not something I had noticed prior to becoming more aware of how I felt after meals, and paying closer attention to trying to eat better. Thanks for these videos... a great help.
I totally understand the crash with pizzas and pasta. Can you please take as a challenge: Gin ( i have seen you tried with whiskey), gluten free pizza ( domino should also prepare the GF puzza), and risotto. Thanks
I appreciate you taking these tests for the team! 😁I'm curious though. I wonder what the results would be of eating the pizza if it were made with dough made from eggs, or chickpeas or some other more protein based ingredients. Thanks for the info!
Great info. I'm not diabetic but always stay away from pop either or. As well maybe even the sauce on big Mac. I think I'll do that too. Because I believe the bun has sugar too Great experiment. I hope you started to feel better. Aldi don't forget to drink good filtered water too. All day!! Don't go over board too.on water.
Great info i know you said you love bread but I wonder if toaster bread with a nice amount of butter would make a difference…and maybe also do one with toasted bread butter and a jam of some sorts on top…
I love these comparison videos you made it puts things in perspective tho everyone is diff..it still helps out a ton!! I've recently started being aware of wht I eat & I've learned so much! Thank you
Love your vids! Can I request you test a healthier version of the Dominos? Maybe a thin crust pizza with two proteins toppings or more cheese or something like that? Would love to see how much (if any) of a difference it makes
I love these videos and I was cracking up after the pizza test because pizza was my favorite food as a kid and I now know why I was so tired when I was in school! Lol!😂
Love your videos. Perhaps you could do some basic foods with the addition of alcohol, a glass of wine in particular. Does addition of alcohol moderate glucose spikes would be the test. Supposedly, the liver prioritizes alcohol metabolism over other substances. Does this translate into reduced spikes when high glycemic food is consumed with alcohol? Wine is popularly consumed with all sorts of foods. A test of french fries with red wine could be compared to your previos french fries results. White wine and chocolate could be interesting too. It is a very popular combination. A perfect video for Valentines day.
What we noticed at McDonals is the buns influence the final cost. You can get similiar or more meat on a smaller buns often cheaper. Good for people not wanting too much bread.
I've found KFC without the coleslaw and potato salad works and their double down hardly moves the meter. But as you found any sort of pizza is really bad. Thanks for your videos. I get very similar results here in NZ😊
I also enjoy your direct approach to the information. I do have a question however. In your experience how rapid is the blood glucose response/spike after consuming high carb foods/drinks? I ask this to see how soon after consuming this should we hit the pavement for a brisk walk to counteract the spike so to speak? I do really enjoy your shorts and videos. Excellent information. Thank you
Takeout or frozen pizza always makes me feel bad. I've been making them with 2 carb balance wraps, putting cheese in between them and then topping them off. But the other day I made an omelette and used the pizza toppings on it... even better!
Not eating is best to reduce blood sugar levels. I have been sugar-free and one meal a day protein heavy for years. For me, tons of bad health issues have gone away.
I did experiment with "Subway" sandwich. 1' , garlic bread, turkey, provolone , green salad, red onion , black olives, 4 slices jalapeno, ranch dressing. Something in it brought my sugar down. So I tried ingredients separately. Olives, jalapeno and onions lowers my sugar.
Enjoying your videos...have learned a lot and appreciate it. Have you done any comparisons of how fresh fruit sugar spikes compare to canned fruit sugar spikes... especially the canned fruit that says no sugar added... however when I read ingredients on the can I see syrcalose added ?😮. Im very disturbed about this.
When Pizza Hut used to have buffets, we would just eat the toppings plus salad bar to stay on a low carb diet. I wonder if that would raise blood sugar at all.
