Australia has had a very very brief yet (1980's to late 90's) incredible stint in the comedy genre here! Yet it's so memorable and will be forever and fondly remembered (both good and bad) and we were the lucky ones to have watched it sigh...
Plenty of good Aussie comedy around,but you're not going to find it on mainstream TV .Lots on SBS and ABC,or check out Carl Barron on RU-vid,DVD or if you're lucky enough live-he tours regularly and isn't a racist like these arseholes😅
OMG the convict ship skit 🤣 and the blackface stuff 😮😧 I remember a lot of these skits from the time, but am surprised at how much they got away with (for better or worse). Hard to believe Australia has changed so much in 30 years.
OMG... I used to look forward to watching this every week when I was much, much, much younger. They are still bloomin hilarious... Love these old ones...
The Dylan stuff is brilliant and where did they score the 12 string double slot acoustic ? Very cool.And this stuff is absolutely HILARIOUS, Good honest Australian comedy it just can't be beaten.
I believe The Project has stretched out as long as it has on our screens. Especially with the many controversies it has had. It's time to pull the plug on it.
Loved the skit at 8.54. Reminded me of a High School assembly back in the early 70s. The headmaster (who loved the sound of his own voice) was addressing us kids - about 400 of us - melting on the concrete quadrangle in the midday sun...something along the lines of ..."and Murwillumbah High School as a whole"...from down the back of the assembly comes an adolescent response ..."it IS a hole"...Never did figure out who said that, but I always thought WHAT A GREAT LINE!
I was 15 years old when this aired on TV in 91..... how sad is it that I remember all of the adverts they had ripped off and I remember this episode like it was yesterday....
Man this is spooky AF I was having a conversation with a friend not even near my phone last week about how wild this show used to be, and this randomly pops up in my recommended today. In particular the skit I was talking about was the alien parody but all the Xenomorphs were Burgers.

From a time when woke was unheard of. Now every thing funny is being cancelled. There is nothing on tv now that compares with this😢😢. Bring back humour.
We won’t have this fun again Comedy and comics are pretty much restricted to say anything funny ..except Gervais who couldn’t give a shit same for Seinfeld and the very late great Robin Williams

I'm going to say that most of Australia, has become more of a "hypocritical nation", especially towards satire and comedy. I bet some, grew up with this stuff in the late 80's & 90's and said it's a wonderful TV show, it'll hold so many memories in the future. To now, most will come along and say that this is nothing but racist and dull comedy, that should've never been screened on our TV sets. I don't get some people to be quite honest. Most will just settle with Big Brother & Married At First Sight.

Maybe cause Australian Comedy. At the time, especially in the 90's. Was at it's peak and everyone didn't get so uptight and offended, with everything they saw on TV. But, TV and everything else, has pretty much changed, where you can't say "BOO" anymore these days.
