The Fast & Furious franchise feels like its starting to run out of ideas, and never is this more obvious than with the most recent addition. Join me as I review F9: The Fast Saga.

yea I liked it overall as a silly movie and that was what I was expecting going in. but they are really taking the whole "ignore physics" thing a little bit too hard.
From street racing and petty theft hijinks with a sprinkling of Family, to literal superheroes on a G.I. Joe tip that can make mentions of "family" a losable drinking game.
I had no idea what was going on.. I thought she was from another movie and I forgot. But nah it was just to show girl power with her crew of diverse ladies
@@jrt2792 if only, she saves Dom from the bad guys by showing up with her girls as a fake squad of swat officers or something. And the bad guys don’t even question it 🤪 #girlpower
F9: Dom’s brother is the bad guy F10: Dom’s mother is the bad guy F11: Dom’s long lost son is the bad guy F12: Dom’s pet dog from his childhood is the bad guy F13: Dom from an alternate timeline is the bad guy
Bro, I just watched the first one with my girlfriend the other day. And that was the first thing i pointed out that this is like point break with really fast cars 🤣🤣. Funny thing is too is that those movies are a decade apart lol. Point break came out in 1991 I believe fast and the furious came out in 2001 so The fact that you pointed out point break means you have to be close to my age 😂😂 omg that fact we can tell how old people are just by reference of a movie is freaking hilarious
Had this thought multiple times while watching the movie: "It's a good thing pacemakers, metal joint replacements, metal tooth-fillings, body piercings, and restaurants with metal utensils don't exist while they are using that super-magnet thing."
You can really feel the loss of The Rock and Jason Statham, and you can definitely feel the chemistry these 2 have in their spinoff. It's the same silly nonsense as the later F&F movies, but the actors are having fun again.
Somewhere in a writer's room deep underground under some heavily guarded facility, awkward glances are exchanged, the air is tense. Everybody in the room holds their breath, unsure of what to say. Your comment has just been proposed as a debate topic a few seconds ago. Suddenly one of the writers looks up. He just came to the only objectively right conclusion. The room is dead silent and almost like in slow motion one word pierces the tension: "Both". I just want to personally thank you. It will be a hell of a movie.
I say time travel is the best option to revisit events of past movies. Also it’s the next step from space travel since black magic wouldn’t fit well in a science fiction world like this.
As a fan of the series, I would have just preferred the sequel bring back all the old villains who want to take down Dom and his "family", or revenge. Maybe Cypher has people break out Lance (Johnny Tran's right-hand man in the 1st film, who was injured last time we saw), Carter Verone (2nd movie) and some of his gang, Takashi (3rd movie), Arturo Braga (4th movie), and Brixton (Hobbes and Shaw) though that depends on if he survived. Cypher teams up with them as way to make sure that if they want to take Dom down, she'll have more eyes on him and his family, leaving no way out for him. In fact, when things start getting real, and one of the characters gets captured and they ask, "What is this?", then all these villains come out and Cypher says, "The race is over.".
I thought that was to bait the mainland chinese to watch the movie, they'll eat up anything when you include them (unless you mention hongkong/taiwan or paint them the bad guy or sumthin), but i can see your point 🤔
Fast 9 definitely for me was also the movie where I was like "this is just... not fun anymore" I already had a moment like that with 8, where I thought it was a bit too much, but 9 just went way too far. I will say I did really enjoy the flashback scenes with Dom as a teen.
the FF franchise has basically become an ensemble version of XXX movies And yeah, Riddick movies would be nice, though I kind of think they went too big too fast with it (and too weird), and now the franchise is ruined. Should have taken advantage of Riddick being kind of an assassin and anti-hero for a few movies and expand the universe a bit.
Yeah, to date I've only ever seen the first Fast and Furious movie and Im perfectly okay with that. Pitch black was one of my favorite movies ever....the sequels were fairly lacking but after the 3rd one I kinda felt like they were attempting to do almost a soft reboot before going forward but they have yet to do that =/
@@Texas240 on a another channel discussing this dumpster fire, the consensus in the comments was this franchise and the transformers franchise needs to combine.
When the bad guy's car was saved by a Drone Jet and then Don 'Bungee jumped' with a car when the bridge was gone, my brain was just going 'Nothing makes sense, nothing is relevant, how can i feel something that is just 1000% unbelievable'
This reminds me of what happened with WCW. Started out poorly, then immediately became popular with something big, ran that big thing pretty strongly, became a victim of that success, big egos got in the way, and then things went batshit crazy. The only thing that hasn't happened yet is ending on a bittersweet note or a whimper.
F&F 50: too fast to retire NoS on wheelchairs in illegal, night-time old ppl's homes corridor races. Nurses be there in thongs and mini-skirts waving them off
No joke, I had no goddamn clue they were up to the 9th installment. Perhaps I'm just living under the ultimate rock when it comes to movies, but the last time I had even heard of this franchise was when James Rolfe quipped in an old video "What are they going to call the next one, The Fast & The FOURious?" Time flies.
I cant believe in early 2000s it was just about street racing and not very big criminals. Now they are fighting against secret organizations in space...
The biggest dissapointment for me is that they keep changing things that happened in previous movies. Often it is small details like Dom's father dying in a stock car instead of the 70's charger that Dom built up in the garage, but sometimes it is big changes like Han surviving tokyo drift and adding a third sibling to the Toretto family that we just conveniently never heard about until now.
It upsets me so much the way they brought back characters from Tokyo Drift. Like, Sean defeated the drift king from the theoretical "drifting land", after being seen by everybody as mad a kid that can't drive, only to became a rocket scientist with dumb jokes as his lines. Han had the greatest character atmosphere ever, a dude who was completely into giving away all his material goods to get to know who's by his side. All he had was the family he built, after losing Gisele. Then, they transform this person, with this unique personality, into asian John Wick and don't even explain how he got away from the accident. The best answer we got from F9 writers about it was "Mr. Nobody made it seem like he died". That's the deepest they dive into what should be the greatest explanation we waited years to receive. Honestly, it's ridiculously absurd how they destroyed the franchise and it's characters only for marketing.
If they can Mel Brooks it with both suspension of disbelief and some fourth wall jokes, it might work. If they play it straight all the time like it seems to be the case, it does not really work.
FX will introduce inter-dimensional worm holes, where the gang will have to team up, or face off, with other versions of themselves. Only in this one, every character will gender-swapped.
The only thing left that would make any sense is a Fast and Furious crossover with Transformers. Optimus Prime and Dom team up to stop Megatron and Cypher. Imagine the speeches Optimus and Dom would make together. Dom calling the autobots family would be legendary. Even as a joke, the movie would still make more sense than whatever they’re doing now.
Fast and furious: Dom 10,000: the reason Dom is invincible is because he's actually a terminator robot who was once human, he lost his family in the future and was tasked to kill Mia Toretto, because Mia is going to give birth to the most dangerous man on the planet in the future. However his memory chip was damaged and forgot his mission. His deep longing for family leads him to build one. He can't go back in his time because he forgot about it and stayed and lived in the past. His presence in the past creates a chaos in the time space continuum, his future self was sent to the past with other killing machines to purge Toretto and his family. Watch the fast and furious: Dom 10,000, the 10,000th film in the franchise giving you the best origin story. Oh, and Brian was resurrected from the flames of eternal life.
“Where else could it go?” I immediately thought “outer space” as a joke, and then… It turned out to be outer space. Someone should tell the Pentagon about strapping rockets onto cars and crashing them into satellites. We have rockets, and we have cars. It’s a no-brainer. Literally.
Bro I was fucking DYING during the entire movie cuz it just got more and more ridiculous. This movie is godawful, but I knew that before watching it. I bet next movie will either introduce teleportation, deep space, or time travel. How will they do it? Family
Granted, I only watched the first one, but for a movie series to have debuted more movies than some TV series have episodes is pretty impressive in its own way.
This series proves people will spend their hard earned money on any mess Hollywood spits out. Patrons leaving the cinema: I don't have anymore money, but I got FAMILY!
I went into F9 expecting over the top insane mind numbing action that defies everything but they still blow my mind with how little the care for any sort of realism
They probably saw one kid pretending that the cars had people in them and they were a “family”, and they saw him crash a dodge into a monster truck with magnets and the other cars said “nooo, I’ve got a family”
@@bloodyr3ap3r87 in the very end of the movie little Brian plays with Michelle Rodriguez by imitating smashing a car into a shuttle - a literal writer's meeting somehow got into the movie
I remember watching the first Fast & Furious movie when I was really young. They stole Cathode Ray TVs and smuggled things across the US-Mexico border. We haven't used CRT since the early 2000s
The movie loses tension cuz no one can die, literally had Tyrese's character Roman, get shot multiple times with AKs, and survives and then literally says he is invincible.
F&F 40k: Vin turns out to be the reincarnation of the Emperor, starts a massive campaing to purge all the aliens, the mutants, the heretics. For his family.
“It feel like a series that run out of ideas and creative energy, costing on past success rather than trying anything new or interesting” Marvel and Disney: Nah, it will be fine
I’m in absolute stitches once I got to the “cardi b as a swat team leader” part hahaha fucking brilliant mate that was just great timing for some so simple
This is one of those franchise where even the fans who said "It's just dumb, mindless action! Who cares?" Are starting to say "Okay, hold on a minute..."
Hi I'm a fan and I still don't care. Like people are giving this movie some weird expectation it has to have some higher level of storytelling but like, no? It's fine as it is
@@theochua2810 I think the main criticism is that it feels more like a copy of the more out there Fast and Furious movies than upping the ante. No one cares about the plot of a Fast and Furious movie, but they care if the over the top action feels kinda mediocre since there's barely anything new.
F10 : they go to space F11: they are somehow in dr strange multiverse of madness and "family" all around the mcu F12 : thanos and Darkseid are joining forces , Dom defeats them with family F13 : Dom eats the infinity stones cos his family told him so , he shits infinity Lazer beams 😀
@@ghostprojekt Exactly - a litre of Tanqueray and a couple of boxes of larger are the only things that get me through some of those long weekends trapped at the in-laws beach house. I love them anyway though.
It’d be super cool/nice if they just took it back to the original vibe…where the highest stake is losing your ride in a race for slips, or getting arrested by cops.
@@klickklack3949 We're not talking about it anybody liked them. You asked which franchise doesn't have strong competent male leads & I gave you an answer.
I love your videos so much. You are so funny, you genuinely make me laugh, I love all of the repeated punch line things you do like the slowed down laugh sound or the guy from that underwater horror film right where he's just yelling that's some funny stuff. So you tried to defend Donald Trump I still love your channel
Even with all the cgi stunts, the most ludicrous thing about this film is that part of it was filmed in Edinburgh, a city whose Council is actively waging a war against car owners.
@@Ramsey276one look up “The great reset” schwab said the very thing the comment did above. Bloomberg said he wants the United States to become a renters market. Meaning no one will be able to afford a house or a piece of land.
Went in to watch it together with my 15y old son, to be fair we had a good time. We r just getting old I feel, we tend to forget how hyped we got when the hottest cars were on screen and in action. My son was drooling at the cars 🚗 (m2 to be honest). He loved the movie and got introduced from FF5 and onwards. Story is meh but he enjoys the cars, fights, explosions and crazy humor inbetween. Think the series formula still works, just maybe for a different audience then us who started 20y ago. Still will be watching chapter 10 and will keep enjoying the badass soundtracks till long after.
I concur it’s as if I’m both movies they’ve gone out of their way to make her unattractive (corn rows, now my bowl high school haircut), still failed or manage it, she’s too hot. But ffs WHO ok’d THOSE suggestions. Be different, at any costs! Duh
Bowl? That's a fucking glans and don't you delude yourself otherwise. Apparently there's a certain finesse required to doing a proper bowl cut because you can obviously fuck it up irreparably like they did here.
Fast & Furious is the best anime. Power of friendship and family, physics works in every moment except temporarily when the main character his rival and the baddies are having a stern conversation, so stern that Aliens get shat into the plot.
Why? The original is old asf and it was Vin Diesels and Paul Walker's original breakout movie roles. I was like a small child when it came out and now we're like 10 sequels in. Paul Walker has already been dead 9 years, time flies man
@@salbonpensiero1704 you don’t understand, there’s a massive difference between things that came out when you were a young child and things that came out when you were a young adult, or later. The original Fast and Furious to you is, say, 1989’s Batman to someone like me. I would’ve said the same thing about that movie twenty years after it came out, because timelines are compressed when you’re very young. You’ll get it when you’re a decade or so older.
The Fast and Furious' "family" is growing so rapidly that it is more like a malignant tumor than a family. By 2025 Dom Toretto's "family" will have grown so much, there won't be an actor or actress in Hollywood that hasn't been consumed by it.
the only one who was about that was tokyo drift, and it flopped. i mean,do tell me how people like you keep amassing likes on comment section, yet current over-the-top fast and furious always make money?
