To multiply large numbers quickly we use the method of cross multiplication - a type of method used in vedic math. For 5 digits it works, just modify the pattern appropriately. For a 4 digit x 3 digit - just treat one of the digits as 0....e.g for 546x5627, work it out as 0546x5627.

I worked out for myself that when multiplying a 5 digit by a 6 digit number you treat the missing number as a zero, after all every number has an infinite number of zeros in front of it, we just don't write them for obvious reasons. Your videos have led me into some other great RU-vid maths teachers too.

Of course any multiplication method has to multiply between all numbers the same amount of times - that is - for 4 digit by 4 digit there are 16 seperate multiplication steps no matter which way you do it - all of these must be dealt with. The order is unusual in that it is not the usual method of adding to get the answer. Take time to learn it. You will get faster and understand it more. Good luck!

What if reminder is double digit but not a single digit reminder. For example i am multiplying 903 x 1849 where i got 105 after multiplying (9x9)+(8x3)+(4×0)=105 now my reminder is 10 should i add the reminder or should i proceed with different method

stop using numbers like 1012x1123 because that will always work because how small the number is. How about something like 5793x6821, it get very messy and confusing and I can't get it right using this method. How ever anything small such as 1111x 2222 I can get very easily.

There are as many calculations as the standard method of multiplication - there is not getting away from this fact. This method reorganises the orders of calculations and thereby speeds up the process of calculation.

actually like 392×931 its 3 digit, so in the school way you add blahblahblah00 by blahblahblah0 and blahblahblah so its basically same amount of calculations but without the BIG addition problems

There are tricks for long division. They do take a bit of getting used to (but not too hard once you get the hang of it). Look at my channel for more info.

All multiplication methods are doing the same thing. Doing the operations in different orders/ways though can make things more efficient and then faster.

Awesome! Thank you. I went to highschool in Africa and my friends knew how to solve math problems much more easily than I did with my Canadian education. I never learned their methods, but remember being told that it was a very simple method. I always wished that I had figured out what it was, and I believe I have just learned it with your three videos on the subject. It really is easy! And I just successfully translated the pattern to work with numbers with different digit lengths. Very cool!

Study or google or youtube "Vedic Math" they don't call it that in schools in the West. Because - in the west they only teach from a European standpoint so teaching anything from another non- European culture in schools is frowned upon(especially sciences, which is kind of funny for a few reasons ;-) ).

Its actually really quick but it depends on how well you know your multiplication table and carrying mentally. If it takes you six minutes you should probably reveiw those skills first. For people who do know like me and all my other freinds , it takes 5 seconds .

Yeah, I have really found out this way myself, very interesting. But the problem we have when multiply a couple numbers is there are a lot of adding math we have done, and it may made mistake. Do you have another solving ideas? Good job!!!!!!

How does the carry work when the sum is more than 3 digits? Eg 6743 x 7859. In the big middle step, the sum will exceed 100.

Actually I just worked it out myself. You just carry over the hundreds and tens. Eg if the sum is 145, then carry over 14

1924 * 2721 = first step multiply 4 * 1 = 4 second step subtract 2 - 2 = 0 third step add 2 + 0 = 2 fourth step add 4 + 1 = 5 fifth step subtract 4 - 1 = 3 sixth step add 2 + 0 = 2 seventh step add 4 + 1 = 5 the result of multiply 1924 * 2721 = 5235204
