Make precision connections with Festool Dominos or connectors using mortise markers from FastCap. The mortise markers are available in two sets specific to the Domino 500, or the Domino XL 700 - with a pair of markers for each size of domino cutter (10 markers in the 500 kit; and 8 markers in the 700 kit). Scott gives a live demo of the markers on a newel post to railing connection that works out perfect with a Domino XL connector. The video also gives an overview of the XL Connector system from Festool.
The mortise markers are available from FastCap and should prove to be a vital and affordable piece of kit for Domino users.

My favorite type of work... one chance to get it right combined with accuracy. But it does cause me a couple of 4am thinking sessions! Every time I see a domino do its thing I am amazed. What a piece of genius!

Yes. Every one of my apprentices has always said the Domino was the coolest tool in the shop. I also book a lot of overtime hours in the middle of the night. Thanks for the comment Jay, and good to hear from you. Scott

@@scottearlsmithFTC it’s been hot! I am in a TShirt most days. Like 60-70 degrees ! Today is hitting 67 ! Usually 45-52 now! I am about 40 miles north of Sacramento ! Yes been busy building some heavy duty melamine cabinets for storage w/ sink uppers and lowers. All 3/4” melamine ! Super heavy! I just build what the customer wants! And outta my little shop garage ! Have my 3/4 ton 2020 van to haul materials and cabinets / tools in! So I do ok Scott! Recently sold my 2016 Tundra ! Bought it for 36 drove it 3.5 yrs and sold it for 32!!! Could not pass up! So I now hv a new goal?? Working for a new truck down the road? Always gotta hv goals! Now the Lord is always at the front of all things ! And let’s face it a truck is not much in goals? But I am flexible that way ! Touché Scott God Bless!

@@zephyr1408 Remind me... Is it Jim? (I'm getting old and forgetful.) Remember that a dependable vehicle is a need not a luxury. Gotta drive something and it's hard to deliver cabinets in a smart car or on a bicycle. It's been unusually mild here. Looking forward to it warming up. But last year I was still fishing through a hole in the ice on April 10. Enjoy your build, Scott

Is carbon paper something you can still buy? It would enable the clamp method of imprinting to work. Alternatively, you could use a rubber stamp ink pad to ink-up the FastCap "stamp".

Good ideas. The clamp would have worked but it was sliding off the curved fitting. After using these markers I think the mallet is the best way to go and make one solid mark. Thank you for commenting! Scott

Thanks Tom. Mortise kits from FastCap are $66 US for the XL set and $70 for the 500. If you're asking about the Festool XL Connector kit they are $450 Canadian (from Woodenedge.com in Winnipeg). I don't have access to the US prices.(Not sure where you hang your hat.) Cheers, Scott
