For the information of those who are giving their own "opinions" without any data regarding human development indicators. Kerala has the best human development indicators in India, measured by the UN Development Programme's Human Development Index. It is even ahead of much smaller states and union territories (like Delhi, which has a lot of money due to investment by central government and other factors). Kerala's HDI (for 2017) is 0.77. The next among bigger states are Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, with 0.715, then Haryana with 0.7, Tamil Nadu with 0.699 and then Maharashtra with 0.689. Nor is it the case that Kerala is a "small" state. Its population is higher than 193 countries in the world, including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Australia, Syria and most European countries. Its population density used to be the second highest in India after West Bengal, but Kerala managed to reduce its population growth rate, while many other states were not very successful in it. As a result, Bihar has the highest population density now, Bengal second and Kerala third.

Gujarat is more Capitalist (Land of Entrepreneurs) attracting most of the FDI coming into India currently. (Gujarat want to become like USA) Kerala is more Socialist and full of Educated unemployed who have to go to either Gulf States or cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad to work in the IT/BPO sectors and also it is consumerist state buying most of the essential daily needs from other states. Industrialisation in Kerala is very poor in the manufacturing sector but it's higher in the service sector. Percapita income is high but you can see the labour union clashes and they will rule the industries or organizations according to their terms that started the decline of domestic manufacturing sector. Other state workers are being pumped in the economy because of shortage of labor and high wage rate our unemployment rate is alao high as the percapita

As an indian perspective bring big industries in Kerala and Kerala is not really a good idea. It will destroy it's nature and ecosystem. I would promote tourism, public welfare and better infrastructure. For industrialisation india had a lot of land for building big infrastructures. At the end of the day we are all indians.

If Gujrath is such a developed state and Gujrathis have superior economic intellect than the rest of India, according to the comment section, then they do not have to live with us, the lowly creatures. They can form their independent polity, I am all for it.

I'm from Kerala . India needs Gujarat model development because we need more heavy industry in low skilled export oriented areas so we can cut down imports and add to export. Kerala is a small state with delicate and beautiful ecosystem and well educated people who are more apt for services sector . Kerala development will always be oriented around education , tourism , information technology etc.

There are more rich and poor people in Gujarat which is more or less an unequal growth to call it as a model where in Kerala is there is no filthy rich or dirty poor . 95% of people in kerala lives in basic standard ..Slums are very less . Everybody have electricity connection , fresh water supply and Proper Sanitation .. Again most of which is due to the hard working mentality of Malayalees than the government of kerala.
