Personal opinion, the K2 or K4 racers should use the same length of paddle to provide similar smoothness in every strokes, due to shorter paddles tend to get in and out of the water faster compared to the longer one, therefore creates different momentum of power and inertia, consecutively affecting the performance of the athletes and the speed of the boat.
