As of 8/23/10. Featured on www.ibeatyou.com Can you break this time? We challenge you. Time starts from String unraveling and stops when the racquet leaves the machine. Good luck!

Many racquets have a small dot or other mark showing where the tie-offs go. If not, you want to choose the closest large grommet hole to the first cross string. There are usually two enlarged grommet holes at both sides of the top and bottom of the hoop. Start your crosses at the top. Good luck, Chris, TW

It's called pre-weaving: you always weave one ahead, and pull tension on the previous one. The basic premis is that it allows you to be faster. Siobhan, TW

@ BonyHerrera, Please note Jason's comment at the beginning of the video that we do not race on any frames purchased by customers or ordered as demos. These are racquets that our stringers practice on that we keep at TW. A good rule of thumb is you should string a minimum number of times a year as the typical amount of times you hit in a week. For instance, if you hit 4 times per week, restring at least 4 times throughout the year. Chris, TW

When you're stringing a 2 piece you always start crosses at the head (because you have the option to tie off and start wherever you like). When you're stringing a 1 piece, (this is your question: by SOME manufacturers textbook it's recommended that you start the crosses at the head, but in reality crosses can be strung from the throat). You always start at the head if there are 8 holes in the throat bridge,

What they tell you to use is just a recommendation from the company, but you're able to use any string you want. Djokovic uses the Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power Rough 16L String, and Babolat VS Natural Team Gut 17 (1.25) String, and yes we do sell those. Siobhan, TW

I talked to our string expert Jonathan and he advised that it is very hard to mimic a hybrid with one string. But here are some ideas that might work. Head FXP Tour has polyester monofilaments with multifilament wraps . There's also Wilson NXT control which includes polyester for control and nylon + polyurethane for comfort/feel. He would suggest trying a single set first before jumping into a reel. Siobhan, TW

@ icearchr6, We string on Prince Neos 1000s. Both lock-out stringers (like the Neos) and electronic stringers generally work great, so it just becomes a matter of personal preference. Electronic stringers tend to have a few more bells and whistles, like pre-stretching functions, different pull speeds, and more consistent tensions. However, if you take good care of your crank machine, it will work great as well. The cranks do tend to be a bit more simple to use. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 12 лет назад
@theundertaker242, No. You need a stringing machine to string the racquet so you can set a tension and secure the racquet in place while the string is installed and the tension applied. Chris, TW

or at the throat if there are 6 holes in the throat bridge.If you want to always string your crosses start at the head don't tie, use a technique called Around the World. If your mains end at the throat, and you want to start at the head, you omit stringing the final main to start stringing at the head. If there's an even number of crosses you start on the 1st cross, if there's an odd number, you go to the second cross. When you finish, you install the skipped strings. Make sense? Siobhan, TW
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 12 лет назад

You should give the Tecnifibre X-Code a try. These strings were developed exactly with combining the benefits of a hybrid in one string in mind. It's a polyester multifilament. Another good choice would be the Luxilon M2.

It's amazing under 7min but please don't try this for the good of your own racquet. Doing between 20-30min is good enough. Going faster only increases risk of damaging racquets. It also depends on strings. I highly recommend you need to give each string coupled seconds to adjust to the applied tension.

@tenniswarehouse Sorry definitely didn't see this. The 2 times I've had my racquets strung by you guys its been with polyester. Besides obviously not raising the tension on the outside mains and last cross the strings were not straightened at the end. Obviously Polyester tends to set in place so by the time it was shipped to me the strings were nearly impossible to straighten and I chose to cut them out anyways. Thanks for your interest.

@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 12 лет назад
On the mains, they use two clamps because one acts as the base clamp (because you haven't tied a knot yet), and the other holds the tension where you are stringing. The crosses only need one clamp because the knot (that you either tied on the mains if you're stringing a one piece, or that you tied to begin the crosses with a two piece) acts as the second clamp and holds the tension. Does that make sense? Siobhan, TW

Thanks a lot for this, i didn't know this. It makes sense. Is it true that you have to string the crosses from head to throat even if using 1 piece stringing? I didn't know this until i read it online. Sometimes you will finish the mains at the throat, meaning that with one piece stringing you will string the crosses from throat to head, but is it really necessary to tie off the mains and then re-start from head to throat leaving 4 knots?

Tennis Warehouse Andy, I made a comment regarding a "rematch" with my other account; from reading your response I wanted to clarify my original post and do so with my tennis account. No disrespect to the stringers was intended at all. I had trouble telling if you had perceived any. I understand that the conditions of the stringing were different. My intent was merely to suggest there be a rematch seeing who could string in less time doing a proper string job. Proper as in one you could hand off to a consumer. Speed stringing a 14x18 pattern racquet, yanking the string through and tensioning in under 10 minutes does not take as much skill as properly stringing a racquet as efficiently as possible. Quality, was obviously a corner that was cut to gain speed. However, a string job is only as good as its quality. Without quality a string job is incomplete. So as I see it they were racing to see who could give the worst string job. That kind of stringing is like running a marathon and taking a cab to the finish line. It's completely missing the point. If you want to do a REAL test of skill then take a common racquet, like a Pure Drive, with a 16x19 pattern and have them string those up. Only tensioning the mains two maybe three in a row on the same side. If you want to make it even more realistic start with the string still in the pack. Then we can see who has the best skills. -Shaun
@ryanborau3412

Yeah I think the best I've managed on a Pure Drive for a customer is just under 12 minutes on a constant pull. Completely different ball game when it has to be good.
@TheHenMen
@TheHenMen 10 лет назад
Interesting. This may be a bit pricey - but let's see their best time with using a bad combination, like ALU Rough in the mains, and Gut in the crosses. And it has to be a quality string job. I'm guessing 14 minutes minimum....

@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
You can try spraying a bit of WD-40 or similar type of lubricant on the area where the grooves are that the glide rails fit into. But usually what is needed, is some adjusting on the rails, and you will likely need an allen wrench or Hex key wrench that fits into the bolt at the end of the glide rails. They need to be loosened, and the glide rails need to be leveled, and then those bolts re-tightened while the rail stays level. Troy, TW
