OK for those of you with clutch issues... I'll share my story to maybe help because it always helps when I come across something relating to my situation at the time. I have a 2006 Civic Si with nearly 150k on it. About two years ago I had to get the clutch master Cylinder replaced (didn't realize I could have done it myself at the time). Anyway, I doubt the shop took much time to actually effectively bleed the system before turning the car back over to me. Right off the bat performance was erratic, but it slowly stabilized, hard pedal, soft pedal, rough mornings, cold affecting the performance, gear grinds.... etc. It culminated this year with what I thought was a failure of the system completely. Winter really kicked in and suddenly it was soft again, then nothing, no gear shifting whatsoever, totally soft. I figured right away that either the master failed uncharacteristically soon or it had to be the slave since it was never changed out. No leaks whatsoever but the fluid reservoir had been mysteriously draining. I kept filling and pumping to get it going until it just plain failed. I used the pump method to get it home and then some google searches talked about erratic clutching and the effects of properly bleeding the system. Then this video. I figured what the hell, lets give it a try. And what do you know.... I can attest that this works so if you are on the fence just do it. It's a bitch to get at my relief valve but I let it trickle for a good 20 minutes and had to at times pump the clutch to get the flow up while adding fluid. All I can say is don't give up, my pedal is solid now.
Annnnd.... last evening I got the dreaded pop and floor drop that signifies the master cylinder is toast. It was the clutch losing fluid after all.... The garage I used must have bought the crappiest parts they could find of course. This is why I do not trust other people touching my car. Now I have to take it all apart again.
Update: pulled the old master cylinder out and it was missing one of the three bolts that hold it together. Solves the mystery of where the fluid went... Anyway, stay away from Exedy products (MC569), they fail, and apparently in the same way nearly every time. Amazon has the reviews to prove it. The garage I trusted put the worst possible part they could get for the absolute cheapest price they cold get, re-affirming my feelings of never letting anyone touch my car. I installed a Genuine Honda 46925-TA0-A02 master, and the car shifts like I just bought it new now. 3,000% better, case closed, lesson learned.
Omg. Working on my 2007 Honda Accord for 4 days. Was pretty frustrated with my 'clutch feels like shit' clutch. Was in a pretty bad mood. Looked for fastest way to bleed the clutch. This video made my day! Laughed my arse off. Thanks for the directions on the gravity bleed. Yup, it's fast and works!
Bro, that skit was me exactly. Bled my clutch come to find out my slave cylinder was clogged. I removed the bleeder valve, pressed the clutch pedal five times and it came all over my headers. After that I topped of the reservoir, allowed it to flow until almost empty, topped it back off and shut the valve. And just like that the clutch is back in the game. "clutch feel gud." Thanks dude. HSG is the shit!!!!
MrImhighoffmusic I don’t know if it’s my pride and ego or I hate to admit it maybe a lil envy but when someone’s comments have a lot of likes I’m less likely to like it even if it’s good. BUT THEN SOMETIMES ITS SO GOOD IT BREAKS THROUGH ALL THAT AND I WANT HIT LIKE. NO NOT EVEN CARING THAT IVE BECOME JUST ONE OF MANY(you know like with some of my ex’s. Feels good to get that of my chest
This worked for me however after starting at the slave cylinder for 5 min and nothing was coming out, I had to pump the pedal 2-3 to get it going, then it started flowing and worked perfectly. Thanks!
@@iiWNMii nice gonna try it out... everything was fine yesterday and then I couldn’t shift had to rev up and push hard on shifter ... this morning clutch pedal just went dumb... gonna try this rn thanks
you my friend is a genius have a mkiv supra did a get vvti swap 3 years ago after that slave cylinder went put in a new one car wouldn't go into gear after beggin my friends for years to help no one did so today I decided to go to youtube and check how to looked at many and yours was the simplest tired it and boom I am getting all my gears even drove it thank you my friend
Thanks. Helped out a lot. Didn't know you could bleed the gravity way. Saved me a ton of time instead of waiting on my dip shit lagger friends to show up and help. 1996 4runner.
I’d just like to thank you, for making this vid saving me money (16yrs old) my dad wouldn’t help me but came up and walked away also it was only -20 degrees out here in wi
Hey readers, believe in this guy if I were you. I followed his advise and I owe him a lot! My Honda Civic DX 1997 is now fix and the shifting of gears is sooooooooo smoooooooth!!! I would love to treat this guy to his favorite restaurant. At first I followed EricTheCarGuy, doing his close the bleeder, push the pedal, open the bleeder, pull the pedal, and this didn't work for me. I tried this method three times but it was frustrating. But with gravity bleeding, I just bleed it for less than three minutes, ALAS!!! my car is back to normal... I love Mr. Honda Street Garage... follow his method cuz it is worth it.
Im a mechanic and I watch your channel just for the humor, although you make solid videos that help many people work on their cars. Especially when they are yelling.."Why does this clutch feel like shit ?" LOL

I can't thank you enough mate. I fucked up my clutch while bleeding it alone and sucked lots of air in and it wasn't coming of the floor. I spent hours trying to let the air out but I gues there was somewhere where more air keeps coming in. I gave up and was almost crying on my driveway 😂. Then I watched your video. I took off the bleeder valve and kept topping the reservoir for 30 minutes and voila it feels as good as ever now.
Changed my clutch and it felt weird afterwards. Thought bleeding it would help. Turns out I forgot to torque down the slave cylinder LOL. Drove 100 miles like that. The bleed helped. Took me about 20 min and it really starts dripping slow towards the end. Thanks!
This is a great way to get the old fluid out and put new fluid in. Thank you guys so much I have a 97 Civic EX 2-door Coupe with a JDM type r in it LSD transmission maybe 70,000 miles on the motor I am a big fan
Got dammit not only is this informative but hilarious. The faces, the remarks, and the insanity... oh myyyyyyyyyyyy...... "oh yea , that clutch feels gooodddd... that's a good clutch!"
Nice. Never thought I’d be laughing at a bleeding fluid video lol. Hahahaha great video Mark Edit**. Your the man I appreciate the hearted comment. I watch a informative funny video 3 years after you made it and 20 minutes later you heart my comment. Congratulations on all your success your doing awesome job. Love the jdm front integra you got now 😍😍 thanks for all the great videos
on my truck the most affective way i found was to open the bleeder screw and press the clutch (with the bleeder open it stays on the floor) then close the bleeder screw. pull the clutch up by hand and open the bleeder again. press clutch to floor. close bleeder screw ...... repeat this about 6 times and done! its easier with a second person to work the clutch but ive done it by myself. Even if you run the system dry it will work.
Just finished doing this in front of my apartment building. Let the lines sort themselves out with the fluid while waving to passing neighbors and drinking a beer.
some cars clutch feeds off the break resiviour, my crapbalt with the ecotec for instance, when i first had to check my clutch fluid i was real confused till i saw a little line going to the clutch frm th break resiviour. cobalts are some weird cars. id emagine all the ecotec vehicles like the hhr, satern ion, pontiac g5, chevy aveo, and deff the cavalier, possibly likely that the cruze is like that too.
I tried this method but was not getting anywhere. So I added a 1 man brake bleeder from harbor freight to the mix. Trick was to let it ooze UP into the catch, press in the clutch to the floor where it would stick, then close the bleeder then pull back the peddle. Bam! Got some pressure, just had to repeat 4x.
What the helll!! That was hilarious, ya'll need to write skits for Saturday Night live. I now need a T-shirt with a black & white honda civic logo & underneath it "Ohh baby, that's sum good clutch,"
Replaced the slave on my 65 plate Fiat 500, no problems for a month then “clutch feels like shit” came back.. is this the best thing to do? Garages have been pissing me around!! Thanks ❤️
Worked for a bit, clutch went from soft to not-so-soft. However after a little driving it went soft again. I think I need to replace the Master/Slave cylinder. What do you think?
Hahaha! 2:06 is how I feel every time I drive my Integra. It’s a glorious clutch feel. 3:17 is what I’m feeling like right now w my Toyota that needs to be bled.
So you leave the valve opened the entire process and just top up the reservoir? Don't you need to close the valve, pump the clutch and at the last pump leave it pressed then release the valve again?
Hey man I have aToyota tacoma 2008 and my clutch and my brakes share the same reservoir so I probably shouldn't try a gravity bleed or should I bleed like I've always bleeded breaks
VERY entertaining...I like how you made this video interesting...and made me laugh...and will this work if I have a car that has a shared brake fluid reservoir with both brakes and clutch???...it's a 2000 Ford Focus
My clutch line either popped off or broke off not super sure but my clutch pressure was gone I was driving then I went to go into 2nd and it went all the way to the floor stuck then no pressure but It's soo compacted in I can't hardly see anything so I am not sure if the line broke or if it just popped off help please
