PART 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z8WQnKnM13E.html *This video is WITHOUT using glitches, so no cloning rare candies! Watch this for the ABSOLUTE fastest way: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8FIUp_lJPnE.html -sending money to your pc isn't a thing in Emerald, oops!
At this point cloning for rare candies isn’t bad, this process takes awhile to do anyways. If it’s apart of the game then you should use it to your advantage.
The Blissey / Chansey trick reminds me so much of my time with Omega Ruby, when you could find secret bases online and there was one I'm pretty sure on a Mirage island w a full team of blisseys to fight. A strange bit of nostalgia but something I remember fondly from the game.
This is my strategy, including something this video didn't mention: Zigzagoon and Linoone have the ability Pickup. Starting at level 41, there is a 10 percent chance of picking up a rare candy. Linoone captured on routes 119 and 120 are between levels 22-25. You can either catch 5 and level all of them up, or catch 1, level it up, and then clone it four times. For Pickup to trigger, you need to catch or defeat the opponent Pokemon in a trainer or random battle.
Yes! I forgot about that! Leveling up your pokemon with one of the methods from the video while having 5 zigzagoons with pickup would be pushing it to the limit for sure!:)
@@MankeyMite I think, if you want to get to lvl 100, this is by far the fastest way to do it. Just grind against random low level wilds with a high pp pokemon, and check every after every x battles. The interesting thing would be to find the optimal number of battles x after which you check for picked up items. Once your pokemon reaches a certain level, it may even be better to just deposit it (in the daycare), and start defeating low lvl stuff with a 6th linoone.
@@tiemen9095 I tried it, but you get rare candies way too rare for it to be viable, 10% chance for item after battle and 10% for rare candies, and you waste some seconds checking items too, but for high levels you get more value from it:)
@@MankeyMite I still think it is the most efficient at high levels. Another efficient way (also to EV train btw): go to desert underpass. Bring a high lvl pokemon like Rayquaza and look for ditto. Switch to the Rayquaza and OHKO it with dragon claw or so. You get the xp and EV as though you just defeated rayquaza. Many other pokemon can be used. Also, for any wild encounter strat: place a fainted pokemon with the ability Hustle, Pressure or Vital Spirit in the lead of your party to get a 50% chance for the wild encounter to be at its max possible lvl for that area.
The most surprising part of this for me is how effective the daycare is. I thought it would be blown out of the water by pretty much any other strategy.
@@skult227 It's about the lowest grade of cheating since you can't tell if someone did that or not without actually looking at their screen. Since it's also occurring within the game, It can be count as legitimate but it can desync the in game clock.
I used to go in and out of victory road over and over fighting Wally as a kid (his battle will eventually respawn after going in and out enough, it's rng but every time gives a chance so it's quick)
When you take into account that emulators can simulate up to 5 times faster, the day care is the best option and available earliest in the game, too. Plus you don't have to risk getting your Pokémon killed if you're Nuzlocking.
1 thing with Gabby and Ty, is that they become static after you beat them enough times. Once that happens, you just need to move to the next route and come back to fight again. Admittedly, you do have to fight them 255 times before they do that.
I actually used them alot as a kid, and was confused when they suddenly werent east of Fortree city. I looked there, and route 118 and then found the STILL near the desert, where they stayed. Pretty interesting
I remember there being a great trick in Ruby/Sapphire (not Emerald unfortunately) that allowed you to afk grind using the Day Care and the Acro Bike with a mudslide. Basically you'd deposit a pair of any Pokémon, go to a mudslide with the Acro Bike and then just hold the up button. In RS when you attempt to go up a mudslide it will count as a step, even if you don't actually go up it (I believe this was fixed in Emerald). You can use any method of movement (Acro Bike, Mach Bike, or feet) but the Acro Bike is the fastest and most efficient way to grind. You'll have to use something to hold the up button, such as a weight or tape, but if you're able to get it to go up on its own then your golden. I actually used this trick a lot to complete my Sapphire's National Dex
Another good way to level up in this game is to rematch all the trainers near Mauville City and Route 117. Cycle back and forth a lot of times between Mauville City and Verdanturf Town (just like he does 0:50). Eventually, most of the trainers in the area will battle you again. Once you defeat all of them, start cycling again. They will be ready to battle you yet again. Their pokemon also level up each time until they peak. This is the best way to level up in this game until you can sweep Elite Four easily with Exp Share.
I had one of the worst strategies as a kid: I found out the breeder between the daycare and Verdenturf almost ALWAYS rebattles you once you move out of the area and run back, and with a full scaling team of 6 i grinded out the last 30 levels on my Rayquaza as well as the last 40ish on my Sceptile
@@MankeyMite I’ll be honest idk how younger me stayed with it, I don’t have the patience for EV training let along grinding off level 30 something mon’s for 2 weeks straight
My fast leveling was route 117 (that area where the daycare was), with a VS Seeker. Every time I used the seeker, at least three would want to battle again, including the double battle twins.
You're remembering wrong, as RSE doesnt have a VS seeker. They do however want to rebattle after a certain amount of steps is taken in area or nearby areas.
One leveling strat I always read about was putting a Pokemon in the Daycare, then biking to the Desert and getting yourself stuck on one of those sand slides that you need the Mach Bike to cross. If you tape down the D-pad, you can continuously get steps counted while you do something else, provided you don't let your GBA run out of battery. Never tried it, because I hate the idea of leaving a console on overnight, but I imagine it would be smooth sailing on a sped-up emulator.
The fastest method is rebattling the trainers on the route of the daycare. I usually spend around 2-4 hours to level 100 there depending on the pokemon. Its roughly 6k exp per breeder battle, 3000 per double battle, and 1200 per sports guy... Thats around 17000 exp every run, which costs you around 3 minutes every time + 2 minutes of recharging the battles by walking back and forth between city and route on a bike. Since these trainers all stay on a pretty low level, you can start training your pokemon without an exp share pretty quickly to get the full exp.
I highly underestimated this place.. Even as a kid I trained here all the time, especially since it was so easy to level up when at a low level. I tested this place a few times for like 10 minute runs, it was surprisingly good, giving me around 2.6-2.8k/m, but I just found another strat that gets around 4k per minute, working on a part 2 now:3
True bro, I was grinding here to get a lot of pokemon to 100 lv. It's also close to daycare, where I can get eggs or AFK get some exp to 2 pokemon :) Glad I'm not the only one who figured out this place
Lately I've been wanting to try out the Battle Frontier, since I never did more than the Battle Factory's silver medal, and this is gonna be some really helpful information lmao, thank you so much
My level up strategy as a kid back in the day was using the Battle Tower pokemon duplication glitch. Sure I ended up with bunch of copy pokemon, but it was the fastest way to grind up rare candies,
Maybe you know this now, but you can clone items without cloning pokemon if you didnt want the repeat pokemon. You just have pokemon in the PC hold items, and just put the items in your bag instead of withdrawing the entire pokemon.
There's actually a small exploit using the acro bike and the mud slabs at the top of route 111. You can leave a poke.on in the daycare then go to the top most mud slab and just hold up on the d-pad. Each movement counts as a step.
I found my dad's old gameboy with Pokemon emerald and some other mario games. And he was lvl 95 and im trying to get him to lvl 100 and this video was so helpful thank you!
There is a method with Ditto'd Blissey you can use too. The ditto method is also the best method for EV training too in Emerald, so you can gain a ton of EXP while getting EVs up with high exp yield pokemon like Kyogre who also give 3 base EVs for Special Attack for instance. However for raw EXP, you want to use a Blissey. You train it offensively, and teach it Brick Break, should be a +Atk nature as well to guarantee the 1HKO on the level 45 ditto even if it has max defense IVs and a favorable +Def nature Desert Underpass has the Dittos. Here is the showdown formatted Blissey setup: Choice Band to increase attack, Attack and Speed EVs to guarantee going first no matter what and having extra power, Brick Break to 1HKO the Ditto, and Teleport to return to pokemon center. The HP Fighting is optional. Blissey (F) @ Choice Band Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Hidden Power [Fighting] - Brick Break - Teleport Hidden Power Fighting is optional(since it requires exact IVs), but prolongs your stay in the cave. Although 24 uses of brick break assuming PP max is used is still pretty decent. (15 PP is still alright) Steps: Optional: Use White Flute to increase encounter rate to 1.5x 1. Have the Pokemon you want to train 2nd lead of your party, have a fainted Pokemon with Illuminate at the lead 2. Turn 1 switch to your level 100 Blissey, which Ditto will Transform into 3. Click Brick Break 4. Repeat until all PP is exhausted. This will yield around ~1k EXP per battle. 5. Use Teleport on Blissey(or another pokemon like Abra in your party) to go back to the Pokemon Center 6. Use the PC box (do not heal at the counter!) 7. Deposit your Blissey into your PC and then Withdraw it. This will 100% heal it and restore its PP 8. Return to Desert Underpass and start from step 1 I believe this will be less painful than the Elite 4 Method as it does not require intentional wiping which relies on AI Trainer RNG.
@@DkKobaADV Hey this is great! Thanks for the detailed comment! I would have reccommended this, but getting a Blissey would require a second game to trade with from FR/LG, glitch or cheats to get, and I only show spots that you can do without any of that! But for those who have that option or want to glitch their game to get a blissey, that would for sure be a good alternative to the league!
@@MankeyMite something with a high base exp yield would likely work as well such as metagross or salamence. Equake and dragon claw as primary moves for both respectively
1 extra tip is that zigzagoon (or any other pokemon with the ability pickup like phanpy, meowth, aipom.teddiursa and linoone) has a 10% chance of "picking up" an item after a battle as long as it is in your party(dont even need to actually use it in battle). in ruby and sapphire they always have a 10% chance when picking up an item for that item to be a rare candy. in emerald it is a bit harder as they will need to be level 21 for you to have a 4% chance for the picked up item to be a rare candy luckily it is easy to get a pickup pokemon of that level since most can be found in the wild that high (zigzagoon and linoone on route 118 and 119. phanpy in the safari zone(need acro bike). teddiursa and aipom in the pokemon emerald safari zone extension in their 30s(!). and meowth who you can get by trading a skitty at the battle frontier, he gets pay day too). and in emerald only the chance of picking up rare candies becomes 10% at level 41 and the chances and ability to get other useful items also goes up the higher level the pick up pokemon (go to bulbapedia for a full list) so next time you are trying to grind up a pokemon consider putting some pokemon with pickup in the back of your party for extra rare candies and other items you might be able to use or sell for money, you can have up to 4 if you are grinding with the exp share and up to 5 if you are grinding the pokemon by letting it fight themself or using a pickup pokemon to ko the enemies (high level meowth with pay day wink wink)
Man just wrote a bible!😍You're right, that would be some next level strategy! Or if we reeeally want to level up fast, we always have the cloning glitch for unlimited rare candies ;)
not just rare candy, but nuggets as well if you’re ever worried about money. I played sapphire for about 4 hours yesterday mostly messing around but also with 5 zigzagoons in my party and i ended up with 10 rare candy, 10 nuggets, a good number of potions, ultra balls, revives, as well as a shiny electrike
MankeyMite thanks boss, i just picked up pokémon for the first time in a decade or so and it has been a good time, your videos have been very helpful too:)
I don't speak English and I'm using google translate, but even so, this video is probably the one that has helped me the most, thank you very much friend!
I usually fight the news crew a bunch of times, give the Pokemon you want to level up the exp share and give the other Pokemon the amulet coin to make a bunch of money
When I was a kid I put them in daycare as you said, but I went to the dessert spot with my bike. The spot in the dessert where you couldn't go up with the normal bike. I put a book on my Gameboy up controls which kept me going up and glitches me back to the spot. I let this happen over a day and my Pokémon went up to level 100 the next day. Basically AFK leveling. The only downside to this is that daycare will randomly choose the attacks for the Pokemon
When I was leveling in emerald I would use a lucky egg and do the interviewer battle. I didn’t use explosion but I used a move that hit both opponents to take them out in one hit. That worked really well too.
Liked and subbed. I got a ruby cartridge off a pal a bit ago and this video was fast. To the point. Informative and had a lighthearted joke or 2 thrown in AT THE END. Great vid keep it up man.
There's a "flaw" in Ruby that they fixed in Emerald Where you can collect ashes for flutes Having a Pokémon with "pick-up" will get way more rare candies
The ride a bike up a slippery slope and slide down trick works. Force the up button down with coins and go to bed for the night. Boom level 75 pokemon (Be sure the pokemon is in the daycare)
Funnily enough I had battled the interviewer pair so much that for some reason they never moved from the area near the desert ever again so it was easy just to cycle between routes to reset the battle and just keep doing it over and over.
Thanks man my swablu was level 20 and When I do the daycare trick you showed in this video my swablu is level 28 my swablu can be a altaria in no time!!
I'm currently playing Ruby and Sapphire again and I use a kinda obnoxious method: Trade the mon you want to level up and grind with 5 zigzagoons in the party. After every batlle, you can check for items because of Pickup. 10% chance for a Rare Candy is actually fine. Depending in the Pokemon, you only need to grind till 60 and the rest with candies.
When I was young, I played Pokémon Rubis / Sapphire. Not Emerald, and the way I XPed my Girafarig and Rayquaza to the Lvl 100 was to battle a lot of Pokémon (Victory road for exemple) and have 5 Zigzagoon/Linoone with pick up. In RS, the odds to have a rare candy was 10% every time, in Emerald, it's 10% only from the lvl 41 and more (5% lvl 31-40, 3% lvl 21-30 and nothing before) It's 10% each battle to pick up a new item, and 10% the Rare candy. So it's 1% each linoone to have the item at the end of the battle. If there are 5 linoone, it's ~ 4,90% to have the candy, so every ~20 battles you have can have a new LVL ! It could save a lot of fights and you just have to wait the moment when you can finish the XP of your Pokémon with all this Candys !
When I was a kid I'd put Pokémon in the daycare and walk up a muddy slope, it pushes you back down and counts as a step. So Id press down on the up button with something and leave it over night
The fastest and EASIEST way by far is to use the day care and use the mach bike, but if you go the desert, there's a mud hill that when attempting to go up, will instantly move you back down. If you use a Gameboy SP, (like the one I had when I was 12 years old), find an object that can keep the button pressed down, then close the SP. Then simply plug it in, so the battery doesn't run out, then leave it. After waking up the next day, the pokemon in the day care will be at level 100.
I used to have like 3 or 4 friends bases with really nice teams to battle back then. All 100s and gave decent spread of IVs. If I had known more about IV training I would of made some great training rooms lol
I played my Sapphire game a lot as a kid and battled the interviewers to level up. One day, either my game glitched or I reached the end code of them transferring locations because they just stopped moving locations. They would just stay on Route 110, and I'd just have to go to Route 112 and back down to refresh the battle. It's how I got a level 100 Whiscash with Magnitude (since I didn't know Earthquake was better as a kid) and a Level 100 Flygon with Levitate. Then I kept battling them to train up flying types or Pokemon that could learn Surf
@@MankeyMite just watched it :) haha just commented a bit too early. Good job in testing btw! I also remember battling the trainers on Route 117 to grind too, like on your Part 2
As a kid I naturally went to the trainers next to the daycare but never considered the day care. On the daycare route there are a lot of trainers with similar level to the interviewers.
pretty sure the slopes only work in ruby/sapphire, but I only read it online so I'll have to try. I've done some calculations on pickup, with 6 in party it seems it starts being the better tactic when you need more than around 10k exp to level up, which is around level 60 depending on the pokemon:) that is assuming you get 1 rare candy every 5 minutes, or 1 every 16 battles on average. Making a follow up video about this and some other competing training spots:)
@@MankeyMite That's so cool! I'll tune up for this video. :) Well true, you could also add some variables like pickup is a bit random etc. ~ or maybe combining two strategies (^^) Thanks! :)
With the interview battles, give you pokemon youre training the exp share and have the other pokemon have surf so you can 1hko exploud and mangeton, its a bit more time effective that the explosion strat
Yea that is smart! I mention implementing the pickup ability in different areas in a follow up video, part 2, also with some interesting mechanic that could yield more exp per minute than the elite four. Also I should have mentioned duping rare candies for those who want to ruin the fun of grinding:3
I would use the daycare trick where I use a bike to try to go up the sandy ramp and slide back down. Level up some Pokemon while I slept and leave the DS charging all night.
making 255 steps outside then entering the victory road rolls for rebattle with the rival, if not, exit rinse and repeat. That is statistically faster than elite 4 spamming.
For part 2 u can go try end of victory road vs begining by flying to Pokemon league. Back when I used to play, I used to grind elite 4 or top level of sky pillar which had stronger pokemon than victory road
Sky pillar is great if you play ruby/sapphire, but they nerfed it in Emerald sadly:/ now they are around same levels as victory road, but takes a little longer to get there. I have found an interesting idea for victory road tho!
On my Pokémon emerald game on my game boy the clock ran dry while the interviewers were south of the desert and I was able to continually run back to them and fight them and got several Pokémon to level 100 by doing that
Finish long talking scene after defeating the champion, because after you saved the game before the credits part,,, you can just soft reset the game and fly back to the Hoenn League.
tbh just use the tower glitch and duplicate rare candies if you dont want to use cheats (or cant due to playing on old device), much faster and helps with making new frontier squads as well, i do this and its definitely the fastest choice if you just want to hard slam runs on the place. for the league you can also just perish song trap with a wobbuffet and spam heals or max elixirs if youd rather do a slightly less broken option (but still decent). you only need one of each to get an endless amount
@@MankeyMite oops, mustve overshot that in the description then, apologies. but yes, these are the only good glitchless ways for sure. now you could use a cheat to spawn endless chansey or blissey but thats also a backdoor method (more so than the glitch), but good for anyone short on time also i know the feeling needing to heal after each interview battle, this was one of the only problems i had with it until i had a lv 80+ crobat a while back
@@orochimarusrebirth6509 No worries, I should have been more clear! Did some new tests on the interviewers after they get bugged and stay in the same place. Alot better exp/m, but also rematching Wally in victory road is actually not a daily event but a small chance to rematch each time you enter the victory road, which could give you alot of exp/m when his pkmn are ~lv 56. Will showcase that in my next video:)
@@MankeyMite ah ok, i didnt know the interviewers could be glitch locked to the same spot. also did not know about wally but will see your showcase once possible for me even though i just use glitch for new frontier teammates =)
I mention Artisan cave in part 2 of this video, and it's not bad if you use a Pokemon with the ability Pressure first in your party(while fainted) it will make the smeargles level 50 half the time, but their base exp is so low (900-1100 is with a lucky egg, so just ~700 xp from a lv 50 Smeargle). There are plenty of better places even if you have to rely on exp sharing to level up, but it sure is more predictable!
Ok regarding gabby and Ty somethings I have experienced with them: 1) I didn't need too much to get through them. Elite four seems more like a chore than fun. 2) don't give interviews and only battle or they won't battle again until u watch the TV. 3) don't know if it's a bug or something but I battled them enough number of times their movement got bugged or something or if they just stopped cause they got stuck at the route above lavender. So it was really easy to farm them. 4) if you want to do xp per minute u need to eliminate the whole explosion thing. Changing pokemon, more pokemon fainting (4 bars instead of 2) and the pokemon centre visits can really make it a lot more time consuming. Instead get a pokemon with decent level and the move surf. It's easy to comeby and it helped me a lot. They're a double battle so if your other pokemon reaches 100 and the other one has exp share it is really good exp and the battle winds really fast if your faster and can one hit them.
The explosion tactic is more time consuming, but you get more exp from the explosion tactic than surf, since the surf user would also get it's share of exp, even if it's level 100. Difference is small after having to heal, but still. I've recently heard about this bug where they end up not moving after many battles, and if that's the case it would probably be a good idea to use the surf tactic instead, as you could just bike up and down between routes and rematch seconds later. I might have to make another video testing this, haha!
Instead of going around and wait for a pokemon to attack you, you could get oddish who knows sweet scent too lol... Leaving a pokemon in the day care may help but paying for getting it back seems bad... Use exp share is better instead of committing explosion i think.
hmm, I don't think you will ever have a problem with buying your daycare pokemon back, but not the best method anyways.(unless u use an emulator and go fast forward) sweet scent encounter will be much slower, I tried comparing it before making the video, for caves at least, not faster. Yea exp.share method is easier for most people, but explosion tactic gives a little more as it doesn't split the exp between both your pokemon:)
@@TempoKong Ok, you're right that it does give Blissey's exp. I thought it didnt because it still keeps ditto's level, rather than giving a lv100 blissey's exp. At least, I dont think so. Tested it with a lv100 Rayquaza and it gave me 597 exp (so 1194 total because I switched to another pokemon to faint it) compared to 331 exp for just fainting ditto. I can't reproduce the exp given by the calculator so I'm not exactly sure, but I dont think it gives the lv100 exp (it does however give more as you said)
You can AFK the daycare with a bike on the ramp tiles on the north side of the desert with the Acro bike. Maybe not as fast but you don’t need to do anything to do it
If you don’t care about EVs, I’d just fill a party with Zigzagoon and abuse pick up for candies. Utterly safe, never need to heal, can just mindlessly run around and pull off items every so often. Slow at first but it won’t get slower with levels so XP per minute increases with time
Wow same! My first (well also second) shiny was a Loudred and Solrock, I crapped my pants when I encountered the shiny Solrock shortly after my shiny Loudred
I always trained in Victory Road with Lucky Egg and always worked for me i gained 937 xp points to 2011 xp points doing this method. That's a clue if you want level up your pokes faster.
I used earthquake on the interviewer while bringing an army of zigzagoons that loots rare candy randomly. By the time I got over a stack. I have problems reaching the lvls so I used the candies to max my swampert that has rollout egg move on it. I think I still have 2 badges to collect on that time.
Rematch the trainers in the daycare area there are several and you get 800-1000 exp per pokemon they have.(they will all be around lvl 31-38 so easy to beat with one of your strong guys. Decent way to farm money too.) Not sure how it compares in terms of exp per minute tho. Always seemed faster than the E4 for me.
When I was younger I had a copy of Ruby and Emerald. I grinded emerald 6 times to trade 6 Rayquazas to the copy of Ruby. I then traded them back to emerald and grinded them all up to level 100 with elite 4 battles. Totally normal behavior.
Gabby and Ty glitched or something for me making them stay above Mawile city. I could just get earthquake on one Mon and protect on the other and just changing routes made it possible to battle them again
Yup! Seems to happen after 255 battles with them. Going to talk about that in my next video. Btw if you go for surf it saves you some time so you don't need to protect. Gabby & Ty is going to have alot better exp/m from this bug for sure!:)
I think i glitched my game somehow because Gabby & Ty dont move anymore they stay on the route right beside lavaridge town. Iv beat them alot, got like 7pokemon up to level 50😬
I fought the interviewers so many times that they have stopped moving from route 111. They just give up. Now I just need to walk up and down to fight them over and over. I still prefer the League tho
I remember my brother removed my game cartridge with my GBA still on...game was still fine but it gave an odd glitch where the interviewers never left Mauville which meant a quick bike north to reset the route was by far the best exp for me. I am definitely an outlier by having that odd meta even a possibility
It's not a glitch actually, it happens after battling them 255 times:) Then they get stuck on route 111 and it's really good exp/m! You could see my result on that in part 2!:)
@@MankeyMite I'm not convinced I'd beaten them that many times for where I was at in the game, though my memory is not perfect for so long ago. Would be odd coincidence for it to happen after the incident of the cartridge being removed while still on too
@@DharokHardOnYea maybe it did cause it to happen! Could be that there is a glitch to make it happen earlier. Many others have commented about it and I find it odd that so many have done 255 rematches xD
