Fantastic item. I have used them for a couple years. I set up mine 5 mm low and back, one washer extra upward camber, tall studs on EXT and on the outer edge of the peg, short studs on the peg footbed. You never notice the EXT is there but if you put some tape on your boot sole you will see you actually use them often. As an extra benefit the EXT can be a footpeg for a passenger if necessary. And I have also used the EXT as grab handles to move the bike after a crash.
dude I appreciate your efforts and your channel your the only other guy in the world that loves dirt bikes as much as I do. your videos are very informed and detailed. your awesome brother. a forever fan.
My co worker came off of a jump and hyper extended his ankle a few years ago, put his lower leg bones right out the back of his ankle. His ankle today is half the size of his good one, pins and plates, all sorts of nerve damage, pain, wrapped in support bandages every day . . . $275 might be a small price to pay if you're gonna ride.
Thanks Kyle. Was thinking about buying those. Also Was wondering about that design getting in the way. This review was spot on. A thanks to the other commenters as well. All good info
In the low position, if you squeeze your bike with your feet, you might feel the peg bracket. Some bikes have more prominent brackets then others. All of the cleats they make feel like ball bearings when its muddy.
Adjusting the camber on this system also twists the footpegs because they are mounted on an angle to the frame. Just like when your footpeg folds up it twists back as it does so. Keep that in mind.
I love Fastway pegs! With that being said I have bent one of the aluminum Air pegs just by hitting the outside of my boot on a tree root at speed. I then switched to the stainless version. Note of caution, if you get the stainless pegs, you might want to carry an extra peg pin. I hit my peg on a stump and snapped the foot peg pin. I was over 20 miles from the truck with no spare. It was an interesting ride back.
Run these on both my Husqvarna’s love them . Set them up to help keep my toes in and feet while practicing and learning new techniques . Casing a jump once I know they saved me lol .
I've always been curious about these, but as someone with short ass legs, my foot normally goes down behind my pegs and I'm convinced I would just tear up boots, pants, and my shins during leg up and down for stops.
Had these on my ktm 300. They work great to protect your ankle. That being said, I was at a race a couple years ago and it was rutted and had lots of roots. I stalled the bike (while in the lead) in and uphill rut. The bike rolled backwards and the heel extension got caught under an exposed root. Once I got off of the bike, the rear suspension extended basically locking it to the root. Took me several minutes and a lot of energy to free the bike. Went from first to last.
2024 is pretty good metal, its the most common aircraft aluminum used. i love when they say aircraft grade 6061 its just treated so its a bit tougher lol not actually aircraft grade
i think the cornerstone of their marketing approach shoud have been, beyond ankle saver, that this is also for older/less fit riders that can rest the entire foot on for less fatigue.
6061 is not used anywhere on aircraft except for the cup holders and door knobs (aircraft grade just means the material has a MIL spec and a certification of conformity). But the extra material cost of 2024 still doesn't justify the cost IMO, but boutique stuff is just that.
Fastway ROCKs. I bought a used bike with the fastway 2s, very nice pegs, I pulled them when I sold the bike, Ive bought a set of 3s new(love them), and have scored 2 sets of the ankle savors on ksl. our family has 6 sets overall, how can fastway stay in business, our family is set for foitpegs foe the next 4 generations! They LAST. the Impact pegs are excellant too! thanks for the video also, flat pegs, I bet the first moment you felt the pegs on the Sherco, you felt them, lol.
Had those on my Sherco and didnt like in low position. You end up standing on the clevis pin tab as it is now exposed when trying to keep feet in tight. 2nd your heel will get all hung up in kickstand and require modification. 3rd you will strip those Allen cleats if you use the red locktight. Beware. I bought mainly to lower pegs so didnt work for me. Sold on eBay. Ended up with buying Flo lower pegs and modified my kickstand. I dont hit big jumps so the ext wasnt needed.
This doesn’t really have anything to do with this specific video but does anyone know roughly how much it will cost to turn a dirt bike into a street legal bike not just for parts for the labor too ?
gophop oh ok that’s cheap long as it’s no more than 1,000 I’m fine with that do you think it would be better to just get a dual bike off the back or get a dirtbike and turn it into a street bike ?
Not that tough, I broke 2 of the 3 main "rungs" that run perpendicular to the direction of the bike on my right side footpegs after having them for about a month
No. Mine broke 3 hours in....they did nothing. Worse than nothing, wouldn't let me buy a replacement peg. Contrast to tusk....no issues when one broke. I want to buy again, but the cost without support...
first thing I do on new ktm is gring the foot pegs so they are flat, otherwise wheres you bots out, cause all your weight is on the end of the peg, cause they are Kanted at an upward angle
I think if you take your time and weld them like you would sheet metal they don’t overheat. Also I’ve ridden them all year with no issues. And I still have $275 in my pocket. Was my frame neck metallurgically changed when KTM welded that on?
Jeff Flick I don’t disagree with you. They make great products. This was just one prodI couldn’t justify purchasing at that price point. I am not that picky when it comes to minor leveling. Wonder if they could make a less expensive version without all the tiny screws?
@@wv4life375 do you have a link to your video to show what you did? Iv looked through your channel and can't find the video you mention? I'd like to weld onto my standard ones so would be helpful to see what you have done
Did someone get a new non DJI drone? I have to let my inner Karen out🙄. I hope when that tree was trimmed at the end of the video the cut was made where it started to rise off the ground. I know it's a little more work but it is one less thing for someone to get blunt force trauma on if they hit it. The injuries you hear of over the years are amazing.
I was thinking the same thing. Plus, two people could have swung that tree completely away from the trail with less effort than it would have taken to make even one cut.
By this time next year Air Ext foot pegs will be in MXA’s “ Forgotten Tech” section... Just another expensive gimmick which answers a nonexistent question...
They have actually been around for several years. Because of my ankles that have been destroyed, I only run these pegs. I finally destroyed an aluminum set last month and have installed the stainless ones. Worth every penny!
I just blew out an Achilles my last race and this 100% would’ve saved me.. (granted it wasnt my pegs fault). I got knocked out of rider position right b4 impact. It should’ve never happened and I take the blame.. BUT. These would’ve saved me. And i wouldn’t have been sidelined for a month now.
