God how I loved Afflecks palace ! - Back in the early 80's - A good mate of mine - Who was managing a local band over there - invited a mutual friend and myself over - Our friend Tony took us on a sight seeing tour of the cities places of interest ! - Mainly of popular bars including the smallest pub in the UK (the 'Circus' I think it was called ?) - China town and of course the record stores - But what sticks out mainly in my mind is Afflecks palace - What a place that was ! - I loved it - It had everything ! - It has since survived the bombings ! - But I've been told it's lost alot of it's original charm - Since alot of those small interesting independent stalls have been replaced by the big well established companies ! - Which is a shame - Back then l bought a pair of Chinos from a menwear store called 'Sergeant Bilkos' - (Haha, No,no ! - The staff there did not speak extreamly fast !) - At otherstalls I bought myself some Casablanca Movie posters & a selection of postcards also featuring movie posters - Unfortunatly my ex wife dissposed ofthose amazing posters ? When this lock down is over ? - IF ? - if we ever get the green light to go out again ? - Afflecks Palace is the top of my list - I'm gonna pay them visit again !
