I would encourage you to look into the story behind HdZero. I've been running it since the sharkbyte days and I can honestly say that the 1 Watt VTX has given me better range with way better picture than I ever had on my analog rigs.

Amen. I'm sticking with analog for the time being. People fly it for 8+ years, it's rock solid and just works with all of my quads. DJI looked kinda nice but now feels like a total waste of money, given none of the new systems is compatible to Dji. And at the end of the day I care what the action cam records - I enjoy flying with analog and it's good enough for my eyes and in many ways (break up, recovery, penetration through heavy leafed trees, latency) better than DJI. My existing DJI quads will turn into Bando Bashers with full protection - croncrete is the one place they really thrive in comparison. And I just hope HDZ googles will be great and the transmission improves in range, penetration and general reliability. Let's see!

I think its the camera. DJI just has much better color range and sharper lens.

I'm sort of there with you... akin to using Skyzone 04X with a rapidfire receiver - SO SO good for analog, maybe this is a little more clean. It looks great, it's improved since we first saw it, it's going to be a REAL pain point for people coming into the hobby looking at digital setups that are all very similar! (at least, to me, they're all similar, maybe dji is a bit more refined considering how long it's history)

@@deroskar Well... I don't watch it all, there are some channels I can't stand. 😬 But yeah, I watch a lot of them. For some reason they help with my depression (and unfortunately I can't always fly myself...).

Is it because of the lack of overheat protection? In texas right now we’re averaging 107deg. I’d imagine this thing would struggle in this kind of heat if it didn’t shutdown after a certain point

Not sure how hdzero would get better by increasing the resolution they transmit when they can't even transmit clear pixels are 720 but a noisy image that's closer to 320 at best.

You can't criticize the vTX for popping if you exceeded it's rated voltage....

@@JoshuaBardwell I was wrong. It was charged to 25.5. Which is still above the rated voltage. It's kind of a drag that they couldn't be rated to 26.4 like the vista. I can see a lot of these having issues from voltage spikes, especially if they're sensitive to .3v overvoltage. Makes me think of Blunty's rant on reverse polarity protection. I wonder if these have reverse polarity protection?

It’s 2022 it ain’t coming down and don’t be surprised if it actually goes up by 2023. The current inflation that has no visible ceiling right now folks need to realize this fact and prioritize their budget.

@@creationlabsinc.189 prices are going down due to the end of the silicone shortage which impacts prices on electronics more than inflation. Look at gpu's

The walksnail version DOES come with antennas, but the fatshark's do not. And with all fairness, DJI are literally the only premium goggles that come with a battery and antennas (skyzone 04X have 2 garbage rubber ducky antennas, but they're terrible and need immediate replacement anyway)

@@willpowerfpv3246 I didn't know that about the walksnail version. Good to know. Regardless, when comparing dji v2 vs fatshark Dom HD, the scales are tipped toward dji in terms of value for the money on this one. Not including the even a cheap set of antenna for these particular goggles was a huge misstep if you ask me.

That's good point... I love to fly my tinywhoops around the house and I don't want 2 sets of goggles and there is no way those tiny beasts could lift digital vtx :(

You wanna talk about costing too much? - How about the top of the line analog FPV goggles?!!! Porqa's cost the same as DJI goggles but don't come with anything to make them actually function at $569! No analog module, no antennas, no battery! So, just to fly plain ole' analog you're typically at around $570 = $120 - 150 module + at least $20 for antennas + $20 for a goggle battery = $730 - $780 - JUST FOR ANALOG! Damn! 😧 For that I can buy the DJI goggles + a Caddx Vista for $140 and up, and have full digital! Then there's the Skyzones and analog Fatsharks, all around $500! Still have to add that module for the Fatsharks! so, barely any less! When it comes right down to it, the BEST Analog is more than DJI digital! By BEST Analog I mean with a comparable VTX and camera to the superb quality available, with any choice of Caddx Vista and camera. So, $40 for a VTX and $40 for a great camera, and $10 - 20 for an antenna. That's $90 - 100 bucks for analog and a Vista with a Polar camera is only $40 more! None of this Eachine crap for $15...that's not apples to apples! People don't seem to do ALL OF THE MATH! When you actually do, and compare apples to apples in best quality for analog to "attempt" to compete as best as possible with digital, it's not hardly any more money! Add to that, keeping your eye out for great deals on BNF DJI digital quads - I've gotten 3 DJI equipped quads for... #1 - $269 with a $150 gift card, #2 for $177.50, and a 3rd for $175 all including shipping! Those are less than analog BNF quads! LOL So, digital is actually as cheap or less, on some occasions, than the good gear from analog. Do the FULL MATH and it's pretty damn close. Nothing that's gonna stop me for taking my FPV image from at best a 5 out of 10 from the very best gear analog has to offer, to a 10 out of 10 with DJI digital.

Imo hdzero (because I own that system too) has its place in the hobby. In no way shape or form will it ever hang with the 2 big hitters we currently have now. I think of it as the feel of analog with a better image. Analog 2.0 basically

@@creationlabsinc.189 so you have this system too? Is it worth it yet? Or should we still wait. I had issues with DJI just dropping out. That’s why I went with hdzero. Haven’t ran into that issue yet with it. I find the way it brakes up much better than just going full black screen.

I have seen a naked Vista get destroyed.

Broken antenna plugs seems to be a fairly common Vista and air unit issue.

Buy hd zero. It’s a good system. It’ll never be anything like this or Dji but in my experience it’s still a good alternative to analog.

I was waiting too but then realised the price in Europe +700€ with the only option of buying new, went for a second hand DJIv2s around 400€ hope I don't regret it too soon 😅

It’s a good system. Still analog 2.0 but it’s still a “good” not “great” option. I fly it on my smaller quads I don’t want to cram a naked vista in. In an apples to apples comparison walksnail and Dji blow it away. That’s just the facts.

@@djSpinege Naw Registering is one way to monitor your product. It don’t not have any active connection for you to be locked out. It’s not Tesla

@@cafub2650 have you ever tried to fly a DJI product? they geo lock you out of flying in some places. i don't trust a company that makes you register or subscribe. it makes zero sense. "monitor your product" thats BS. they can listen to user feedback instead of track our info.

Right now, I think DJI is a clear winner especially with the recent goggle price drop. Performance is excellent and the hardware is so durable. Walksnail has a lot of potential but DJI is proven.

Mads tech said this was worse than the not-released test firmware that they gave to test pilots. He isn't comparing this to the x.5 firmware that came out like 1 week after release. At least that's how I interpreted what he was saying.

@@Shauny_D Yeah, no way I'd do that. Mostly because DJI works so damn well, why switch! I have no problem with the size, weight, or fit of my DJI goggles. Not after my upgrades.

@@KOrnhOliO1 yah exactly. Hdmi is a massive pain on the commercial shoots I do, and not having canvas osd are the main reasons i’d look into switching, but not there yet...

Decent idea I think. CatalystMachineworks did a big heatsink on the all-weather Whoopmaster for this reason.

@@eledikohabib3369 It's not even close! It's the lack of penetration. HDZero just doesn't have it. Flying behind any objects and it has difficulties. Most videos show it flying in a field, and that's worthless! Plus, way, Way too much snow, fuzz, and that vertical rainbow blackout thing is disturbing. It's at distant 3rd place.

@@richmiller540 Sure, but just don't try to go behind any big solid objects! ;) lol And, how about the probably 75% of FPV'ers that don't race. It's got slightly lower and fixed latency. But, after that, it seriously lacks in comparison to DJI or the FatSnail system.

I disagree that the camera and lens is worse than DJI. Maybe it's the OLED screens but the walksnail system looks much better Wh nyou first put the goggles on.

@@JoshuaBardwell interesting point! But side to side, footage against footage (a more fair comparison) the camera quality of the original DJI camera/lens is way better in my opinion. Walksnails current camera/lens feels gloomy, lower color range. Again, I'm just comparing footage!

Walksnail has focus mode. It's called Focalize. It's enabled by default.

@@JoshuaBardwell ok, I did not check all menu entries. Settings-Display-Focalization Mode = ON. It was disabled by default, after factory reset. And for 50mbit I set the Settings-Bitrate=High.
