So yeah a few days ago they did a Rock trailer and hey, neat! I guess he never got a trailer technically, so why not. Last night though? Same deal, Terry trailer except this one is bursting at the seams full of references, easter egg secrets and all that, and now may have tied together a mystery we didn't even know was there with the stages!? Could mean nothing but then again... it could mean everything! You decide I guess so give the video a watch, like if ya liked it, and let me know what you think!
Little fact: P-chan isn't a duckling, it's a baby chick. As in, a CHICKEN! 😂 Duck King incubated and hatched what he thought was three duck eggs, but one of them was actually a chicken egg. He do have 2 ducklings as pets, but P-Chan his favorite out of the three. Reason: P-Chan love to mimic Duck King's dance moves. 🐥
As the devs said according to your interview video this is a Fatal Fury game. The return of old FF characters like Duck King and Raiden is then pretty damn likely.
No Raiden, No Buy-den is the call of the youth today! Raiden resonates with the children in a way no other fighting game character potentially ever has I believe 🤔
I know that a lot of people want Geese to return, but wouldn't that kind of cheapen the ending of Real Bout? It always struck me as memorable because of how somber it is. Terry's big quest for justice against Geese couldn't kill him, until Terry decided he wanted Geese to live. The conflict between Geese and Terry was special *because* it ended. Terry's revenge didn’t end with some grand victory, or happy ending. _It ended with one man dead, one child orphaned, and another man wondering whether this was all worth it._ It was a fitting end to a man like Geese, going out by his own hand, simply to spite the person he despised. Geese was a person so consumed by hatred, greed, cruelty, and evil, that the very idea that his life was saved by another was preposterous to him.
The Mt. Rushmore on Terry's stage is a callback to a scraped version of Terry's stage in Fatal Fury Special with the four Fatal Fury 2 bosses except Axel Hawk was up there instead of Geese since he wasn't in 2.
I always thought that the Mt. Rushmore stage in Fatal Fury 2 was a reference to Mike's stage from the original Street Fighter, since Takashi Nishiyama worked on that game before joining SNK
Something I like to add to this discussion is that the teaser trailer for City of the Wolves hints at a few stages that might be connected to some characters: National Park South Town Airport ??? [Abandoned dojo] Live House "Old Line" Factory
From memory and doublechecking the SNK wiki, the characters that match with these stages: National Park - Joe Higashi South Town Airport - Franco Bash Abandoned Dojo - The closest I could find is the dojo stage in KOF98, which is the Kyokugen-ryu dojo but broken down. In KOF98 it's the stage for the Masters Team which includes Takuma Sakazaki. Rather than him due to his age canonically, it's possible Ryo as Mr. Karate could appear Live House "Old Line" - Rock Howard(I think this is the stage we've already seen) Factory - Mr. Big(but also associated with Iori Yagami in several KOFs)
How awesome is it that we're going back to when each character has their own stages? Yeah, going by these trailers and hints, I think Duck King, Raiden, and Geese are coming back. We're about to see a ton of blasts from the past and I'm all for it. Even the new characters have their personal backdrops. Still waiting on Gato and Andy myself but man this game is going to be amazing if Samsho and KOF have been any kind of indication.
On the other hand, having character-specific stages again is awesome. On the other hand, I don't want it to be a limiting factor for the base roster. I'd rather have, say, 20 characters and 12 stages in the base roster than 15 characters and 15 stages. But that might be me.
Duck King would be hype as hell. And I'd be genuinely surprised if SNK doesn't milk Geese for DLC money. Pleasantly so, but still. Geese, Mary and Kim just scream season one hold outs to me.
I can imagine SNK adding Geese and Blue Mary, but I don't if it'd make sense to add Kim if Jae Hoon and Dong Hwan are very likely to be in the base roster, they'd have to differentiate Kim from his sons
Guys most of times a cameo its just a cameo, dont look for a deeper meaning 😅, Geese's tower its probably the most iconic stage of the series, doesn't really need to mean he its going to come back, can be really a stage for a final battle, and since its there for Terry vs Rock surelly probably has a more symbolic meaning that anything In fact Dream amusement was Shokaku stage in Fatal Fury so could be for him too
I know I’m getting Mai in this game, and while I’m super grateful. I would be a very happy boy if Geese or Krauser (or maybe both??) were in this game. Cause god I like playing them in 98UM or just in general.
Each character having its own stage should be the standard for fighting games like KOF and Garou, adds a lot more personality. IMO the only game that does not obey this logic is MK
Liu Kang - Wu Shi Academy (MKDA/MKvsDC), Champion's Tomb (MKD), Fire Temple (MK1), Liu Kang's Hourglass (MK1) Scorpion - Scorpion's Lair (MKA), Fire Garden (MK11) Sub-Zero - Lin Kuei's Temple (MKDA/MKA/MKX) Raiden - Sky Temple (MKD/MKA/MKvsDC/MKX) Johnny Cage - Cage Mansion (MK1) Sonya Blade - Special Forces Base (MKvsDC/MK11) Baraka - Tarkatan Camp (MK11/MK1) Reiko - Reiko's War Room (MKA) Reptile - The Pit (MK/MK2), Reptile's Lair (MKA) Jade - Jade's Dessert (MK3/MK9) Sektor - Tekunin Warship (MKA) Kung Lao - Shaolin Temple (MK4) D'Vorah - Lost Hive (MK11) Ermac - Soul Chamber (MKT/MK9) Kano - Fight Club (MK11) Sindel - The Great Hall (MK1) Kenshi - House of Pekara (MKDA) Blaze - Lava Shrine (MKDA) Noob Saibot - The Dorfen (MK3/MKT) Maybe not each of them, but some of them have their dedicated stages. I exclude boss character because boss characters always have their special stage. Also as I recall, not all fighting game has a stage for all characters. Tekken doesn't have dedicated stages for all of his characters either, only select few. SNK and Capcom are some of the well known to make special stages for their characters. In KOF case, the stage is mostly for the entire team, not for single character.
Dream amusement park is also Sokaku's stage in fatal fury 3, and I find it hard to believe they'd have 2 wrestlers in the same roster unless it's very big. FF3 needs more reps anyway. Also, I'd rather Geese not be brought back, since in this continuity he *chose* to destroy the scrolls of immortality and *chose* to die instead of being defeated. I'd rather it be a new character, inspired by Geese's dominance in South Town.
yep, if it goes the way I think it will tizoc trailer will be tomorrow night, so ill do a vid on wednesday talking about both. Not enough meat on the hotaru trailer by itself to justify a full vid yet
In the 15th Anniversary Video "Memories of Stray Wolves", we can see characters with new looks that were not featured in Garou MotW. Richard Meyer, Duck King and Blue Mary.
Honestly, Richard should be stuck to cameo tier because he also has a protege: Bob Wilson. I for one would like to see an older, more chill Bob dealing with things in COTW.
If Geese returns, let it be Nightmare Geese as a Hidden (Super)Boss. When it comes to another wrestling character I'm personally hoping for Tsugumi Sendo, she could be the fan who convinced Tizoc to come out of retirement, and maybe even be trained by him, creating another mentor-student relationship.
Big Bear definitely seems like a character that’ll be in this. Raiden, Yamazaki, and Ryo were characters that got teased in Mark of the Wolves. So they’re kind of characters you’d expect in a direct sequel to Mark of the Wolves. I really wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot of previous Fatal Fury characters returning in this one, it’s been a long time since we’ve had a new Fatal Fury game. Although I think we get Nightmare Geese, as opposed to Geese being alive again.
The DANGER barrel on the train is also a Metal Slug reference, and man COTW has a bunch of them. I'm still really hoping Geese is Nightmare Geese and they don't pull 'he was never dead actually'. Non-canon characters are fine!! Also, in all the trailers before Billy's, the VO for the title was done in Geese's voice, even in English (It's Richard Epcar, who voiced Geese in Tekken 7).
Duck is mos def going to be in the game. The flock of ducklings marching through is a callback to when they would randomly pass through FFSpecial Stages. Raiden/Big Bear was a given with the Amusement Park. Tizoc needs a rival/tagteam prospect.
Terry's stage is a nice call-back to his stages from Fatal Fury 2 and Mark of the Wolves, though part of me wants SNK to include multiple stage phases, not just time changes like in some of their other games, I mean something akin Terry's stage in Mark of the Wolves, where at first shows the train crossing a field with the sunrise on the background, then the train at the main station and finally the train going through a bridge with a view of Second South in the background. But I know modeling more than one stage per character would be a difficult task Also, those ducks are a clear reference to Duck King, but they were also present in Andy's stage in Fatal Fury 2
He those mini ducks are real, only means one specific character is coming back to Garou. Hope Hotaru have her Church Stage back, because gonna be Dissapointment she is the only character without a stage.
theres too much evidence that everyones getting their own stage, it'd be weird to cheap out and leave 1 or 2 characters behind. Plus Hotaru's stage is one of the better ones in Garou too
Oh, Roof, I do believe you are cooking on the stage thing, as usual. But you know what would be a kind of funny plot twist. If the Geese looking stage actually goes to Rock’s Mom and we get to see her playable instead of Geese. Edit/Bonus: While I wouldn’t play Raiden, I would love to see how he would looks and plays in this game.
Been asking for Raiden's return since KOF14, but THIS is the game he should come back in. An "old man" Raiden would go so hard in this game. We can finally have him fight Tizoc (unless that's happened before and I can't remember.). Also as a wrestling fan, the homage to Vader/Leon White is just the best. Hoping he shows up!
I hope Duck King comes back. I used too play him in the old ps2 Fatal Fury 2d/3d fighting game. I miss seeing him in other games of recent. Fingers crossed 🤞 ✌🏿
ITS TIME ITS TIME, ITS RAIDEN TIME!!! but yea Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow are old school faves. Just big bois with incredible athleticism being a menace RIP to the Mastodon and Bam Bam
Man, Roof, you have such a great way to get people excited about fighting games😎 I had almost no interest in this game or 2XKO, but I'm hyped for both now lol. Waiting for my alpha lab code currently. Keep up the great work getting people hyped about fighting games!
I could bet my ass you were a big pro-wrestling fan, and as I saw Vader in Thumbnail, I knew for sure! My dream is to have Raiden back and a licensed skin recalling Vader's Attire: The best big man in history of pro-wrestling deserves that!
6:55 The writing on that sun/moon monument says "覇我亜怒" which is read as "Howard" (it's also seen in past FF/Real Bout games), so it's definitely the Howard estate instead of another character. Doesn't necessarily mean Geese is alive but it's very strongly hinting at it
I drew the same conclusion about the stage to character thing based off the 2nd announcement trailer. Also, the background in Marco's shot does not look the same as his reveal background. It's giving me "Gato's cave with water coming down vibes". At first I thought it was Vox's stage, but the colour palette does not match. Oh, and that skybox for Preech? I'll bet it's a satelite dish. SNK loves them a good satellite dish.
@@KarlSturmgewher That's a possible characterization, I personally came up with the idea of making her a wanderer as she's on a journey of self discovery until she's believes she's worthy of becoming the next Countess.
Ngl besides loving his classic stage it's honestly a flex for a character to have something like that to them like the villains he fought in the past be it dead or alive on mt Rushmore is 🔥👌🏾
Come on, SNK! Give us what we want! Give us Big Bear vs Tizoc!! The people want to see that foul feathered fowl get struck by the righteous thunder of Raiden.
If Geese is being held out for dlc, who is the guy that’s the main antagonist and the big bad we get to play as? Because let’s face it, Billy ain’t gonna cut it.
In my opinion final boss could be Gato and Hotaru's father. In Gato's ending he defeats his son and saves Kain's life by taking him away. A sign that perhaps it could have some role in the main plot.
Great! The stage needs a bit more juice still to live up to prior Fatal Fury's, special MOTW's one. For now its mostly orange and not much more, but I'm sure SNK will add more to it by lanch, like they have been improving the game visuals.
