I added the Manitou Mastodon Pro Ext fork with 120mm suspension travel to the Farley 9.6. What a game changer! I can ride faster, so I don't have to slow down in technical sections. The front tire has much better grip and steering. I would call this fork as a heavyweight champion! The weight is actually helping a lot! Rigid carbon Farley is normally back heavy, but the suspension adds more weight in front. The Farley becomes nose heavy, but I have adjusted my riding position to be more back. I have a very short stem and setback seatpost. The fork is a huge change in my rig, especially in bike balance. My rig becomes more trail friendly. Awesome update indeed! The total weight of the bike is about 13.5kg.

Great video! Looking to get one of these on my 9.6 as soon as they are in stock. Your front fender caught my attention. What kind of fender is that and do you like it? Thanks much!
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 2 года назад
The fender in the fork is Zefal Deflector Lite. The front fender is there for protecting the fork stanchions and it's doing great job! The frame fender is the Mucky Nutz Gut Fender. It's lightweight and great too.

Just curious what tire pressure you run on the dry trails versus riding in snow.. I'm getting my shot put on this week it's winter time now where we are

Nice video! I am seriously thinking about buying the manitou. Is it pretty stiff?
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 2 года назад
Awesome fork. If you mean stiff like no flexing under load, oh yes it is stiff! Other than that it's all about settings. Best fork I have ever tested. It's great fork to tweak settings though. There is no lock out so there will be always soft feeling in the front. With more air I didn't like it so much but with the proper sag it's awesome. Precise amazing steering especially in fast technical trails with lot of rocks and roots. I like Manitou forks. I had the Trek Stache with Manitou Magnum but the Mastodon is so much better. Please have a look at the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HTGVC8X1_YY.html

@@Jcool721 I will check the video right now! I have a trek farley 5 and now that I'm starting to do more downhill I feel like I need a good fork. By the way, we have the same exact handle bars. What saddle is that?
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 2 года назад
@@kennysilva2939 I have the Brooks Cambium Carved model. It' like a suspension under your butt. Awesome saddle but if you think about it I have some advice for you. Go for the widest C17 model and all weather. Carved means cut out in the middle where your "manhood" is located :-) Hands down the best saddle ever and here is the reason: you don't sit on the hard plastic and you don't have stupid padding to block your blood flow and causing pain in your soft tissue areas. The saddle is actually rock hard though but at the same time it's super soft! Amazing indeed but some people don't like rock hard surface.

To me it looks dangerous ... it seems possible that tyre will meet with crown when entire travel will be used ... its like strong use of front brake. Add fast descent and You fly off the bike.
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 9 месяцев назад
Thanks, what a great comment! That’s where the EXT comes in. In order to offer clearance for tires up to 796mm in diameter, the EXT forks are limited in their travel so that the tire can’t contact the crown. That also means that a 100mm EXT suspension fork has the axle to crown measurement of a 120mm standard fork - this is a critical detail when ordering the right fork for your bike.

What’s the wheels size ? And brand
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 2 года назад
The wheel is Nextie Black Eagle II 27.5"x65mm. The tire is Bontrager Barbegazi 27.5x4.5". The best set for fast single tracks.

@@Jcool721 interesting! Do you know the total weight by chance ? Really like that set up are you planning on a dropper post ?
@Jcool721
@Jcool721 2 года назад
@@neverstockjp I don't remember the weight, but it's not bad at all. All the extra weight is in front, but preloadind the fork makes it weightless :-) The total weight is about 13.5 kg. If I bought a dropper, it would be wireless for sure. Easy to swap for winter rides.
