johnsonjj117 Better yet, he could've removed it on his own! He's got two wickedly-sharp spears he could easily use to just slice it off! Just a little nick! And there! Gone! It might leave a wicked scar, but geez! How has Diarmuid not thought of this before?!?!
No, a fate anime that retells the Fate version of each servant that is on the show. Each servant should and 2 or 3 episodes that go over the key points in their life.
Kinda sad how the Fate fanbase hates or thinks of his character as a meme. I personally really liked him and think he's underrated. He may not have the raw NP firepower of Saber or Gil, but I do agree with you that with smart tactics and a more compatible master, he does have a realistic shot at winning the grail. He's arguably the most wholesome servant around, too.
@@otakudaikunI think it applies to him a bit more from what I've seen lol. People think of him as a crybaby when getting compared to the straight up badassery of Cu
Diarmuid really is the ideal servant to summon in a grail war, I mean as long as you aren't stupid like Kayneth and bring your wife along when summoning him
@@dio696 Isakandar is only really a threat if he gets to pull out his NP. Without it, he'd lose to Diarmuid in a fight. Plus, he's a wild card that can't be trusted in a war considering how he's fine with just ignoring his master's orders and doing his own thing.
Poor Diarmuid; he tried his very best to fulfill his role as a knight but nearly everyone involved in the war spat on him and his honor like garbage while they are the ones who are trash to the world. His horrific death was the preview of the true hell later on for everyone who were too blinded by their ego to see what they were really doing unto others and their own moral code until it exploded right in front their faces.
I know. It has to be the saddest story I've ever seen. It makes me so sad that see that such a heroic spirit had to suffer betrayal in life and then again in the grail war. It sickens me how much this represents real life and how others are willing to stamp on the honour of others. Ah man every time I see his story and fate I want to cry
Lancers have a lot of potential despite a number of them having low luck. If only they had a Master that respected them and treated them as a partner or companion rather than a familiar they would be happy to fight alongside them and would be close to winning the grail
Jonathan Yeoh but you do know servants are summoned based on how the master is right, like neutral-lawful master is more likely to get a neutral-lawful servant. Also I thinks it's the lancers luck getting bad master too.
Diarmuid is one of my favorite characters in the series, so seeing how he went out legitimately made me feel hurt. Dude only wanted to fight noble battles against strong opponents and serve as a honorable and kind knight.
Cake# True I guess, but people seemed really aggressive of this one Lance. From the way people went on I thought he was evil. Or Gil with two lances. XD But overall he seems like a good guy.
Diarmuid is one of the most shit on characters in the nasuverse, and he's practically a better definition of lancers having the worst luck than any other. In the end the only way he can be happy is if he's with people who want him to be happy, and not selfish pricks.
Anime 1 the original diamond from the Celtic folklore is way cooler and I mean Way way way way way cooler than this shameful and wasted rip off of a cool Hero. Believe me.
Not true. I am scottish and I'm getting a degree in History. Sure, he was a gangster. But so was he in Fate/Zero. When he died, he got cucked real hard and the reason for his rage was his betrayal once more. Pitiful celtic mythology.
Still waiting for Joan of Arc... Also, does anyone notice how the Lancers, the unluckiest class of Servant, from the core Fate series are both Irish? Luck of the Irish, my ass, am I right?
some peole claim Diarmud is a wuss compared to Cuh but hell he had it rough! i liked his character not as much as best bro Iskandar but he was badass and honorable. they should make an actual battle between him and saber without interferences.
I think it’s because during his death, he went on rage filled rant and cursing at everyone until he died while Cu started killing everyone before his last breath of life.
@HOTROD AMVs @HOTROD AMVs Well both Diarmud and Cu were forced by a command spell to just impale themselves in the chest. The reason why a lot of people love Cu more than Diarmud is because Cu went out having the last laugh by killing Kirei before dying while Diarmud just cursed at everyone and died. In short, Diarmud went out like a bitch while Cu went out like a warrior there that’s it.
@@straydude4566 well if you think so Can you tell me what could someone do in diarmuid's situation? No one need to be saved and no villains Who was he supposed to fight?the ground?saber?
@HOTROD AMVs Yeah I don’t really like the fact that people treat Diarmud like shit, he’s just a guy looking for a good fight, but his master thinks otherwise. Plus his master wanted to save a loved one so he had to choose to sacrifice their life and win, or sacrifice his servant and lose, so he chose that. For Cu, well I haven’t finished UBW yet but I know some spoilers, so Rin was captured for some reason, Cu, since he is a hero, wanted to save her since he took a liking to her, but Kirei forced him to impale himself, but the spell that allows Cu to continue fighting even when near death helped Cu on killing Kirei and then died after freeing Rin.
michael mattson diarmuid may be not as badass as cu chulainn but he is definitely no shit tier servant in my opinion he is the second most famous hero of ireland and also a demi god. fate/zero messed up his legend a lot.
well that s the tragedy of the fenian cycle diarmuid's deeds were far more heroic than fionn mac cumhail dude slayed giants, faes, otherworldly gods, faes like a piece of cake in comparison fionn comes no close to diarmuid.
His story is so sad. It makes me so angry that all he wished for was to show his loyalty and some stupid woman forced him to throw his life away. Then he was betrayed by his King and forced to die alone. What made me so sad that I cried and I stopped watching fate zero was watching him be treated like crap. His wish was the easiest to grant yet he couldn't get it.
Diarmuid gets overlooked because he lacks the same raw power or flashiness Cu Chulainn possesses and fans tend to focus a lot on how he died when that was by far his absolute lowest point. He's a strategist, someone who can think quickly on his feet and outmaneuver stronger enemies. Saber was objectively one of the strongest Servants in the war by far, and he still keeps her on the defense for most of their fight through a combination of parrying and trickery (remember the whole "Which is the real Noble Phantasm?" when the answer was "both" and he kicked up Gae Buidhe to wound Saber's hand, preventing her from using Excalibur at full force for half the war)
Kayneth may just be the most incompetent Master in the entire main series (honestly, Shinji is the only one that could top him). - Not only does he pull an absolutely reckless stunt by dragging his own fiance along, but he essentially makes her a target by designating her as Diarmuid's mana source (which is honestly dumb since, yes, it leaves Kayneth with some extra mana to use, but is rendered moot since a) he's still being gunned after by the other Masters and b) when has a mage fight in this series EVER been a test of stamina?). - Then he has the bright idea of summoning a Hero known for having an ability that automatically charms women (which he can't turn off) with said fiance around and has the gall to blame his Servant for a crumbling romance that was already rocky because Kayneth's a jerk to literally everyone. - And finally there's the BRILLIANT idea he had of staging an attack on a Master WHO SPECIALIAZES IN TRAPS AND KILLING MAGES on his own turf. Granted, one of my fav cat--and-mouse chases in all of anime, but still a horrible idea on Kayneth's part.
@@otakudaikun His nickname is literally "Diarmuid of the Love Spot" and Kayneth had enough connection to where he should have at least info about the infamous Magus Killer
I’ll admit, when he first showed up my opinion was, meh. However throughout the series I was slowly starting to like him and really respected him and his code of honor. By the time he was forced to kill himself I was actually heartbroken and upset how he despite being with a scumbag of a master was still loyal to him until he was forced to impale his own heart.
I kinda wonder what it would have been like if Waver got Lancer and Kayneth got Rider (who I loved hearing call Kayneth out for hiding in the shadows when Waver was riding into battle at his side, albeit crying). While maybe not as impactful as the King of Conquerors teaching him to believe in himself, I could totally see Diarmuid filling a big brother kind of role for Waver and showing him the importance of humility and respect
I literally just watched the episode where he died and I’m crying. Lancer was one of my favourite characters and I loved his code of honour. I wish the masters didn’t interfere because all Saber and Lancer wanted was an honourable battle and they couldn’t get that. Lancer didn’t deserve the death he got.
I really don't blame lancer for cursing the holy grail and everyone he was the most decent and honorable character but even had his limits at how much shit he can take from others
Diarmuid was such a good character! I feel bad that a guy who honestly didn't even care about winning the war and only wanted to faithfully serve his master was denied even that (I oddly don't want to blame Emiya all that much since the Grail War's only real rule is Keep It a Secret and only about 4 characters were playing with anything resembling a moral code) - The really sad part is that I think even with the forced-suicide, Diarmuid could have died happy if only his Master wasn't such a piece of crap and apologized for betraying him, telling him that he used the command seal to save his fiance, something that Diarmuid in all likeliness would have understood.
I really don't blame lancer for cursing the holy grail and everyone else and wish it bring disaster out of everyone he was the only decent and honorable character but even he had his limits at how much shit he can take from others
I thank you for the videos! I also have to thank Type-Moon for getting me into the history/myths, of stories I might of never got into other wise. I now have read the "Epic of Gilgamesh", the "Ulster Saga" and into the Greek/Roman, Middle Eastern, and other cultures myths.
No I am looking. I just googled it and read what I could. I love the old myths, and saga. I always knew I had a love for history ever since I read up on the Viking Saga in highschool. I do have some old Canadian relative's who moved there from Ireland, I should ask them also.
you'd think after he was summoned and gave his true name Canith would have been like " hey dear... sorry I can't have you around because this guys legend and all , see you in a few weeks,"
He was definitely crippled by uncooperative masters, but I don't think he would have realistically been able to beat Gilgamesh. It's mainly just a bad match-up for him.
When I was new with Fate I saw his picture and I thought him and Cu is just the same person, then I realize alot of same faces in Nasuverse that are not the same person. I see you Arthoria😂😂😂
idc the hate he gets diarmuid has a special place in my heart, I also love his saber form, I want to use him IDC for the quick memes but I love his design and his knighthood. he is an honorable man but has bad things about him. he is amazing as a character idk why hes is a misunderstood person.
Diarmund...... You are great and worthy knight!!!!! 😭😭😭😭.. Why in the name of root, you must gave a tragic story to him(diarmund)!!!!. If only he met arturia back then...
I thought that he had let the water drop twice because of the bitterness, then once he got over it he was actually going to and did but diarmuid already died
Honestly the coolest looking servant imo. Handsome as fuck plus the double spears look flashy. Would pick him as my servant even though I know he's not really the strongest.
In some versions Fionn Mac Cumhail ( pronounced fin mac cool) took granae as a second wife after his first wife Sabh (pronounced Sive) is taken from him (read killed) by Fardarah and leaving him to raise his son Oisin (pronounced like ocean) alone.
_KuriGohan_and_Kamehameha Lancer Kiyohime as B rank luck, Elizabeth has B rank, Leonidas has C rank, Romulus has B, Fionn has C, Jaguar Man has B, Ereshkigal has B, Parvati has B, Enkidu has A (when most balanced), Jeanne Lily has A++, Houzouin has B, Medusa Lily has C, Lancer Raikou has C, Nezha has A, Artoria Lancer has C, Hektor has B, Benkei has C.
I love that the Gate series is bringing Irish mythology to a wider audience but bloody hell I wish they would have put more effort into getting the names pronounced right. Watching Fate/Zero at the moment and annoys me how Diarmuid doesn't know how to say his own name :p
hey, just a quick note: Angus Óg is pronounced: Angus owg Fionn maccumhaill is pronounced: Finn McCool Graine: Grahn-ya gae dearg: ga-e jar-ag manannán: mana-hin great video though!
So, random fun fact, I am in the bloodline of Cormac Mac Airt, so thanks to Fate Zero using Diarmuid, I'm related to an anime character now. Not sure how I feel about that.
@@otakudaikun The funny thing with them choosing Celts for a lot of the Lancers are almost every Celtic hero is a tragic tale. Like Diarmuid was the equivalent of Achilles, except he didn't have a weak point. The only things that could kill him were his own spear Gae Dearg which could pierce magic or that particular boar which was a cursed child brought back from the dead. So of course when Finn accepts the marriage of the two, they hunt in the forest where the boar was.
Gonna be honest, that's not so much a spook, considering he's the best berserker currently available. You want a spook? I got a gold archer and it was Orion.
Rukifellth but I wanted Shishou, not Golden boy T.T he can be best berserker for all I care, I'll still bring SEKAI DE ICHIBAN TSUYOI DAKARA over him anyday (almost bond 10 with 2 grails)
Cake# I'm not desperate at all *hangs a rope* I still have 5 chances with Da Vinci's tickets in 3 hours *fastens rope around neck* I'm perfectly fine if I don't get her!! It's not like I wanted her in the first place!!! HUM!!
If I were to summon a Lancer class Servant, I would honestly choose Diarmuid first. Servants like Scathach, Enkidu, and especially Karna would also be enjoyable, but all three would require ruinous amounts of magical energy just to stay materialized. Diarmuid seems like the perfect blend of tactical savvy and genuine loyalty. I could hardly ask for better. Oh, and in my opinion, a much better Servant for the arrogant Kayneth would have been Fionn. I would have enjoyed watching their egos clash.
Noah Weathers scathach doesn’t seem to be too magic heavy she’s skill over power The other two though one has anti god divine weapon that basically death for anything divine The other is himself a divine item Fionn please note Fionn is a king and well kings don’t take kindly to being ordered around like slaves and kayneth loves to order his servant around that could resulted in a murder
@@GnosisZX The idea was to have Kayneth receive a taste of his own medicine in the form of someone just as arrogant as he was. If he again proves incompatible with this Lancer, then so long as his death isn't drawn out and filled with suffering, and no one else ends up paying for his mistakes, well...I won't be crying for him then.
Daikun, you probably ought to look up how to pronounce a lot of these names and terms properly. I know the Irish language can be confusing when it comes to pronunciation - i know, ever since living in a foreign country, everyone has mispronounced my name. But here is a few pronunciation guides Diarmuid: it's not di-ar-mood, it's diarmid. Fianna: emphasis the fi part fi-anna Fionn Mac Cumhaill: The Cumaill part is supposed to be said as 'Cuval'. Fionn would be fyon. Donn: It's pretty much pronounced as done. As in to be done with something. Grainne: Grawnya. Aengus Mac Óg.: Don't forget the mac part. Just saying Aengus Óg sounds a bit weird to be honest. You can always search online for audio for these names and terms :)
I love the lore videos but I have a hard time looking at the spinning frames. I like looking at the artwork while you narroate but over time it strains my eyes. I don't mean to undermine but rather bring attention to it incase there are others with the same issue. Continue sharing entertaining and informative content! Thank you.
irish is a difficult language to pronounce, but heres some corrections. Huge thanks for covering irish mythology. fenian= fee-nee-in fianna= fee-uh-nah diarmuid= dear-mid tuatha de danann= thoo-a de da-nanan grainne= grawn-nya fionn- fee-yun
What could she have done? She was no mage, she had no way to resist the curse. Tbh, I don't think blame can really be put on anyone involved in this tale... Lancer, Gráinne, and Fionn got all fucked over in some way.
So what happens to Fionn and how he dies? Diarmuid is conspired to be killed 3 times over for LITERALLY NO REASON. He couldn't avoid being born, getting the beauty mark, or getting influenced by the gesh(?) Also what time period does this supposedly take place in mythology?
Also, did the Fate series omit Diarmuid and Grainne's children that were present in the actual legend? Because the actual legend states they had 4 sons and a daughter throughout their years of marriage.
That is quite strange. They can't ignore Heracles' children, though. His killing Megara and his children is THE REASON he qualifies as a Berserker in the first place.
He deserved way better Master than Kayneth. Diarmuid is good servant who just wants to serve his master but Kayneth betrayed his trust which caused Diarmuid to cursed the Grail itself.
I don't blame lancer for cursing the holy grail and everyone else and wish for disaster out of everyone he was the only decent and honorable character but even he had his limits at how much shit he can take from others
I really didnt care much for Diarmuid when i watched the anime, but my god your voice and the visuals made this really interesting. Amazing video as always
Lord OZ Enkidu is pretty important and boss in Strange Fake and Sigma is the closest thing to a traditional main character in Strange Fake (he will become the True Lancer in the Fake Grail War).
To be honest while it is sad, Diarmuid decide to cross not only his king but his friend, perhaps while Maccool did forgive him, deep down he felt betrayed, and Well it was indeed Diarmuids fault
This isn't exactly accurate. Grainne loved Diarmuid before she saw his spot (in the original legend it's on his forehead and he wears a dumb hat to cover it)
Melyel it was the spot that well made her a little too lustful and then she put a geass on him aka a magic bit he can’t break aka diarmiud was fucked royally then no way out
