Well, to put it simply: the entire family inhabits the conneticut and Vermont areas. I know that my Pepere was his gransson Clarence, and he literally lives fifteen minutes from me. At Fourth of July, as well as literally every other big holiday, the family will gather at one of the larger houses and spend the day together. Even the one group that doesn't live in the immediate area, living in North Caroline now, tend to make it up one or two times a year for this stuff. As for my great great Pepere (which is grandfather in french for those interested. Memere is grandmother.), he is sadly no longer with us. I never got to know him, but I'm happy to have something to remember him by. We also recently lost our great grandfather on my Memere's side, which was especially hard on my dad, and I consider myself lucky to have got to know a generation most my age wouldn't in this day in age. As for my Pepere, he and his brothers I've heard are actually largely responsible for building the area that they live around now. He also built the house he currently lives in, as well as the house that one of my aunts and uncles live in as well. Even with everything going on right now, we get to go and see them every week or so, just baring in my to keep our distance. In otherwords, that 27 and more are one gigantic loving family, and I couldn't be prouder of us all!

I've been looking for this for a while ever since my Memere told me about it. To clarify, this guy was my great great(?) grandfather. I'm a Cyr just like he is, and since this happened the entire family tree basically has basically inhabited the entirety of New England. I remember actually first seeing this video back a few years ago on a trip to New Jersey with my mom's side of the family. Honestly, I still think it's crazy that someone is able to have that many kids and been physically fine, but being potato farmers, I don't think it was hard getting back into shape.
@VioletJoy

So your great grandmother was in good physical shape? I'm still recovering from my third child 21 years later. Lol. I can only imagine having that many. I adore children, but that sounds like a logistical nightmare. I sure wish your family members could be interviewed. We're all curious to know so much more! Like where did they all sleep? I wonder how any of the normal procedures in a family can work with so many people: preparing and taking meals, getting ready in the morning, making lunches for the school, going anywhere like shopping, on a trip,on holidays? To answer your concern, way back then, houses had cellar made of dirt, it kept all the fruits and vegetables for the year, there was wood burning stove, no need for electric appliances at that time. The washing machine were the old ones made with a roller and it was electric. No dryer, clothes were put to dry outside on a clothes line. The appliances were a gift from CBS and for sure the family was happy to have such a wonderful gifts. This family had their house full of food, never ran out of meat, vegetables etc. They were farmers with a large land. Each sibblings had their own job to do. At that time in life, living in the country was a blessing.

Do French Canadians politely kiss goodbye? It looked like the appreciative fella was going for it, but the American wasn't expecting it! Love these old stories. Cannot fathom 25 children!

Many of us back then hung our laundry outside to dry. Dryers weren't real common at that time. My mother never wanted an electric dryer. She didn't like them, she preferred our clothes to be dried out in the fresh air. No static cling. They smelled great without dryer sheets.
@AbiSaysThings

Would you believe some of us grew up in the 21st century without dryers and were absolutely fine? Because in civilised countries it's not embarrassing to hang your washing out, and the clothes dry much nicer too.

It's been answered by one of his children, Priscilla Beaulieu, many times already in these posts. There were 20 who lived to adulthood. Read some of the other posts. Very interesting, and nice, since many are from other family members, children, grandchildren, etc., who are connecting and reconnecting. A lovely family! Blessed be!
