Just a quick disclaimer because it seems a few people think I copied Happy D's image for my reflection sketch for school. But really we just used the same reference photo from pinterest in different ways, her rendition was much more polished and creative and I absolutely love her piece and the video that goes along with it. The version I created was just for practice and learning. If you'd like to draw it as well I'm sure you can find the image online! Thanks and sorry for any confusion.
One thing i noticed is that male artist are generally better at drawing, so im not really surprised, i think its because they use reference more than female artists, who stick to more cartoon style art without learning the basics of anatomy first!
Omg! The first drawing was Ganesha!! Did you know that in hindu mythology it's believed that if you begin any work by invoking Lord Ganesha, it's will come to successful fruition? So basically he's supposed to help you "Finish what you started!" So cool!
"This looks like Shrek in human form. That happens to me a lot, I end up drawing Shrek"- I honestly couldn't relate to something more. I tried speed drawing some guy once and he turned out looking like Shrek in a tracksuit. Your sketchbook is amazing!
i am so hyped they are good right i mean sometimes some of them can be too sour but they are still good the one i like most is the ones that has little sour and juice but has lots of pulp in it
Your sketchbook tours give me sooooo much inspiration. I mean I've watched like several other sketchbook tours but yours are always the ones where I'm like "What the hell, this is incredible!!!" (Sorry if my English is bad, I'm from Austria haha)
This sktechbook is a really beautiful piece! I usually don't watch sketchbook tours completly, but this time it was very interesting and after that I was really inspirated to draw something in mine, since my Motivation was lost for a few weeks. Thanks for this! :)
Yeah dude I agree you have mad skills. I'm 30 been doing art since early teens and not as good technique, proportion wise as you definitely pursue art you will be a happy person if you can find a career just doing art wish you well
Happy 2023, Matthew!!! Thanks for these early videos in sketchbooks/Journaling. It opened my eyes to sketchbooking and made me look at it again, really differently and as something more memorable!!! I've been telling others about your channel and hope you're doing great!!! Thanks for all your tips!!!
I am sooo grateful this video got recommended to me because I have just gotten a ton of motivation to draw, like, everywhere, everyone and everything. This is especially great because I did not really draw for about 2-3 months (I know that's hell of a lot if time) because I was in a sad, demotivated, procrastinating and generally slightly depressing phase of my life. Nothing I loved before - like art - seemed to work anymore and after failing a few times I kind of gave up... But what I now realize is that I need art in my life for me to be happy and fulfilled. I desperately need it and that was perhaps the reason why I lacked total motivation and interest in anything at all. So I have to say a giant thank you! If I didn't have to go to bed now, I would immediately begin to draw! Thank you so very very much.
I love eating lemons too. I can NOT leave the lemons alone after getting them as a garnish or with fish at a restaurant. I MUST eat them. Now I have finally gotten a lemon tree and it has baby lemons on in. I've wanted one for 20 years. Great artwork, the plant you got towards the end looks like a Jade plant. Super easy to take care of. They thrive on neglect.
''Planted my mom flowers in preschool and each year we watched them grow together... BUT THEN THEY DIED it was so sad'' hahahaha idk why laughed so much at that part edhvidecv (obviously it isn't funny but just I wasn't expecting that at all lmao). Anyways I'm happy youtube recommended me this video, you are really funny and talented!!! And I love how you explain your sketchbook all along, it isn't just flipping thru it, you really put your personality and yeah! I just- I really admire your talent and how you seem to master so many art styles and different medias and aaa I'm overwhelmed by your talent. So yeah, I'm definitely subscribing! (ok now im leaving bye sorry for that haha i got a bit emotional)
ohmygOSH wow you are so kind!!! This comment made my dayyyy thank you so much!! I'm so glad you got a kick out of the video and some inspiration that makes me sososo happy!!! thank you for all the kind words i couldn't be more grateful!! Its the people like you that make youtube so fun!!!
!!!!!! (wow you answered I can't believe it) !!!! Aaaa I'm so happy my comment made your day, yours definetely made mine too! Thank you so much again :)))
The gold sketches are gold! LOVE THEM! Especially the spread with two animals to the left and the girl with pinkl/purple hair to the right - it looks beautiful, really.
I'm literally in the middle of drawing in my art journal at the moment, yours is so aesthetic and I also find It really inspirational. Also just get a really nice vibe from you and your art, looks like you put a lot of love and energy into that journal, and it really paid off.
Matthew, wow you have so much talent! I am 66 years old and can draw fairly well, but I major in oil painting. Anyway, you are dedicated and inspiring. I hope you keep taking us along in your jouney. Please do not stop!
This is my New Year's resolution: Create more, collect more, cherish more. I constantly crave creativity, and want to create as much as I can. But it seems like so many things always get in the way. I feel like I take so many things for granted too, and I want to take time to look deeper into everyday things, and really cherish them. I want to keep a sketchbook like this. A place for complete creativity and to vent into. Not like my old ones, full of projects and dislike. But something just for me!
4:14 I don’t know if he’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen or that’s the most beautiful portrait I’ve ever seen...I think it’s probably the latter. It’s absolutely stunning 💜
Clarence Haze I thought about David Duchovny a bit with his eyebrows and so on but yeah, yours seems more accurate and thank you, now I can sleep well tonight :D
I used to subscribe to you on my old channel, about 4 months ago (before this edit i had swore it was a year ago but i realised that this was only posted in august aha, i have bad memory) when i was really passionate about art. since then i’ve had a bit of an “art block” but i’m finally getting back into it. i’ve been trying to find this video again ever since and i’ve finally found it!! missed you bro, and i love your art! ❤️
When you find the time could you do a video on how you draw your portraits with prismacolors? You're so talented! I absolutely love all of your drawings they're beautiful! Every Time you said 'omuhgod' I couldn't help but laugh.. Not sure why I found it so funny haha
It just makes me so happy looking through your book! There's so many memories in it and I can almost hear you smiling when you're talking about everything, keep up the awesome work :D
You are so freaking talented and an inspiration. You make me want to pull out my old sketchbooks and start drawing again, and experiment with different mediums. (Amateur manga artist here.) love that you put A LOT of love and attention to this book and filled it up cover to cover. Being random, I think you've got the deepest voice I've ever heard for a 14 or 15 year old. lol please continue to inspire the world with your art. Can't wait to see more of your work.
your different styles are W I L D! I have so much fun watching your videos and they make my day brighter . You are such an inspiring artist so keep rollin'!!
Wow. I really love what you do. And I must say you have inspired me to dedicate myself to fill a sketch book. P.S. I didn't know that eating lemons was as common as it is. I love eating them too.
That is one of the most loudest sketchbooks I've seen! Love the variety of pictures and colors you have added on there! Keep making the sketchbooks and videos, please!
This is honestly one of the best sketchbook flip through! Im so inspired after watching this , was it your freshman year of high-school or college I wanna be able to draw and color like that one day (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
Ahh your art is so guudddd. Like I typically get bored of sketchbook tours, but your personality is so interesting, and I love your concepts 🙏🏼 keep that shit up mah dude
I love finding male artists online. It's so different seeing people be more comfortable drawing boys than girls. Also love your style and everything here. Keep it up!
The actor you were thinking of is most likely Brendan Fraser. Also it is so great to watch this AFTER your more recent sketchbook tours. You’re growing and making amazing progress. :)
I have the same struggle of not being able to draw without a reference but I’m also working through it and your art is so inspiring! Thank you and keep producing content!
Oh my god I'm so in love with you and your art. I'm going into my second freshman year (a Canada thing... grade 8-12 is high school) and I go to a special art program within the school doing visual art. I'm surrounded by amazing artists, but your skill is well beyond your age. It's a really good push for me to actually practice consistently seeing as though you put in so much work, time, and dedication and it reALLY pays off HOKY shit. I'm just amazed, your colours to your illustrations to your realism are all equally mind-blowing. Thank you for making these videos ❤️
YOURE SO CRAZY TALENTED I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!! Please please please try and post more! I know your busy (I'm a sophomore in high school too lol) but seriously you have such strong talent and everyone wants to see more! (Even if it's just a small daily sketch here and there, that would be awesome)
i really enjoyed watching all your cool art pieces and admire the way you use lots of different mediums, you seem very carefree about your sketchbook which is a cool quality to have :) good luck in the future!
Your skill and sketchbook is absolutely outstanding. This really inspired me as I'm getting back into art after an art drought. 😭💖 absolutely admire and adore your work!
This sketchbook is awesome! It's one of the few that kept my interest all the way through. You are a very talented young man. Much success to you in the future!
That's the first video I watch from you and.... WOW. No only you're simply an amazing and talented artist but you're also so funny! Lover it! I hope the subscribers will keep coming! You deserve it!
I wanted to tell you how much I really enjoyed this video. Your talent at such a young age and incredible range of style are both super inspiring! You make me want to fill out my own sketchbooks :) Like others mentioned, I'm really happy you went through each page and discussed everything. Based off this video and your personality, you seem like such a lovely person. I wish you all the best in AP Art, and can't wait to see your future work and sketchbook tours :D
