Fav./Least Fav. Songs, 70s Era Judas Priest with Martin Popoff. 

I love Starbreaker even if it's a bit dorky. haha Love 70's Priest, my favourite era of the band.

Favourite era of my favourite band. I was surprised, though, that 'Run of the Mill' from 'Rocka Rolla' didn't get a mention, especially as Martin said he likes 'dark and depressing' Priest. On 'Starbreaker', I read somewhere it was originally called 'Stormbringer', from the fantasy novel by Michael Moorcock. I don't know if that's true, or why it was changed, given that the B.O.C. song, 'Black Blade' was about the same subject, and Moorcock wrote the lyrics, so he presumably was/is not averse to bands writing stuff based on his work ( the most recent I'm aware of are 'Eternal Champion' with 'The Cold Sword'). Great episode.

"Cheater" is the best Priest tune nobody ever talks about. It's so savage and to the point.

I'm always surprised that Martin doesn't like the ballads, that's a big reason why a lot of us love this band, because they're so versatile and do everything so well.

Guys !!! "Epitaph" is great, a perfect scene setter for "Island Of Domination". Admittedly it`s hard to find a song not to like on "Sad Wings".

Rocka Rolla - honestly I've only heard parts of this album, I like Never Satisfied and the title track. Sad Wings of Destiny - favorite is Tyrant (if Genocide was as good as the live version on Unleashed In the East, then it might be my favorite), least favorite is definitely between Dreamer Deceiver and Epitaph, gonna go with Epitaph for today but they're both terrible. Sin After Sin - favorite is Sinner, least favorite is definitely Last Rose of Summer. Stained Class - favorite is Exciter (Heroes End and White Heat, Red Hot are so close), least favorite is Savage. Killing Machine / Hell Bent For Leather - favorite is Rock Forever (it hurts to not have Running Wild or Delivering the Goods but I have to only choose one), Delivering the Goods is probably my favorite Priest song, but specifically the live version on Unleashed In the East. Least favorite is by far Take On the World, in my opinion the worst song Priest ever wrote in their entire career, it's only slightly worse than United and in my opinion even worse than Before the Dawn.

Favorite & Least Favorite: Run of the Mill Cavier & Meths Dreamer Deceiver Epitaph Diamonds & Rust (so hard) Last Rose of Summer Stained Class Heroes End (really hard, cuz it's a 5 star for me, I just listen to this one less) The Green Manalishi Take on the World I think Priest was great at ballads, but I definitely think they missed the mark with songs like "Epitaph" and "Last Rose of Summer". "Dreamer Deceiver", "Here Come the Tears", and "Beyond the Realms of Death" though are very powerful, muscular types of ballads, I would have liked to have heard more of them from them down the road. I just always felt like "Epitaph" and "Last Rose of Summer" messed up the muscular travels that those albums provide, whereas the other ballads I mentioned break it up in an effective, nice way.

my favourite/least favourites per album - Rocka Rolla - Never Satisfied / Caviar and Meths - would have liked them to have done the full version Sad Wings of Destiny - Victim of Changes / Epitaph - its not band per se just not as strong as rest Sin after Sin - Let us Prey-Call for the Priest / Last Rose of the Summer - another ok ballad but not brilliant, which makes the rest of the album even more excellent as it's my favourite of theirs Stained Class - Exciter / Better by you, better than me - not my favourite cover of theirs - though not the worst - that comes in 1988! Killing Machine (as I'm from the UK) - Hell bent for Leather / Take on the World - Take on the World is great as a sing along end of gig song but for me is the weakest on the album - that being said its still great and for what its worth I rather like both Before the Dawn and Evening Star. Even though I'm stating my least favourites the above four albums from Sad Wings are my favourites of their catalogue on which for me they could do little or no wrong and are albums that I never skip any of the songs.

Too many good 70’s Priest songs to choose from! But I think I know what my least is, “Rock Forever”. What the hell is a “rock forever”?

I really find it difficult to pick just a single song from each album. Other than Diamonds and Rust I truly liked all their 1970s material. I even liked Better By You , Better Than Me . I definitely think Stained Class was the pinnacle of their career, I only picked Exciter as my least favorite because it is probably the most popular song from Stained Class . I am not crazy about Diamonds and Rust because to me it sounds like 1980s Judas Priest, and kind of ruined the mystical atmosphere of Sin After Sin. Other than the Nostradaumus, and Owens albums ( which I dislike because of the Groove Metal style, I liked Ripper Owens as a Vocalist) there are 3 Judas Priest songs that I hate, Living After Midnight, Parental Guidance, and Johnny B Good . I do like the rest of British Steel, Turbo, and Ram it Down albums Other than the aforementioned tracks.
