In this video we show off a new piece of equipment we’ve got onboard - portable tankless scuba dive systems from BLU3.
These portable diving systems are battery-powered, custom-designed compressors that float right behind you.The main unit floats on the surface while you dive underwater. Inside the unit there is a custom battery powered air compressor which pumps air to the diver through the air hose and out through the smart regulator. It saves battery life by monitoring breathing patterns to allow the compressor to know exactly when it needs to send air. They’re lightweight, compact and even airplane friendly.
In this video we are using the Nemo - which allows you to dive to a depth of 10 feet for between 60-90minutes. The company also sells a model called the Nomad - which allows you to dive to a depth of 30feet for between 45-60minutes. The Nemo is currently on special offer as they’re phasing it out so you only have another month or 2 to get your hands on this model. After this they’re bringing out a new model the Nomad mini combining the best features of the Nemo & Nomad.
These systems are extremely useful onboard your boat, not only for enjoying the underwater world around you, but also to aid with never ending boat maintenance! For example - it has totally transformed our hull cleaning, making the process so much faster. We managed to clean the whole of our 66 foot hull in just one go with the Nemo! They are perfect for enabling you to perform any underwater jobs that need doing - eg changing anodes, de-blocking thru hulls, servicing or removing the propeller - which you may remember Timo having to do whilst free-diving in the past! And are ideal for to helping you to remove any nets or anything that gets caught in the propeller or around the rudder, or to check for any issues with the rudder, the seal of the keel or to carefully inspect the rest of the underwater part of your hull for any damage - this is especially useful in tropical areas when surrounded by coral! With this equipment onboard you also have the potential to be able to go down to unblock your anchor if it gets caught! Being able to perform these tasks underwater can potentially save you hundreds in haul out fees. They also take up much less space than scuba equipment and don’t need refilling with air.
If you’re interested in purchasing any of these models or just want to see more - we’d appreciate if you’d click the link we’ll include in the description and share it with anyone else you think might be interested. We’ll also include a code in the description that gets you a free t-shirt with any purchase

Caio! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts. We're refitting an ex Vendée Globe Open 60 race boat originally designed & built & raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa. He competed in her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), finishing 5th, becoming the first non-frenchman to finish.
We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water!
Subscribe to our channel&track our progress as we release videos about our journey as well as "how to" videos about anything boat related.
Never stop to dream, never stop to sail!
You can find out more about the boat, us and our refit plans on our website www.sailingnv.com or follow us on

Oh my gosh, I'm so happy you were able to get one of those Dive Kits I was telling you about when Timo was having to work below the waterline on the prop and shaft when you were diagnosing your vibration plate/clutch failure. It's awesome to see a sponsor like blu3 on the channel, kudos to them for helping this young family. So good to see that good things come to good people. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...

I love the Nemo and might buy. It is important to know that you should never dive with these deeper than 10metres as you will suffer nitrogen narcosis if you don't spend some time in stages to stop the nitrogen build up. That being said it is a great fun and essential tool for cruisers. André in Sydney

Have things changed, in my diving days it was 33ft (10mtr) unrestricted time underwater, not 10ft.

Hey André great to hear from you. Yes you should definitely do the stops when diving to anything greater than even 3 metres I think - the length of time depends on the depth. You should definitely still do compression stops when using the nemo or nomad - there’s a little course to do online from the company to go over the safety procedures involved with using them

Don’t you guys feel restricted by limited mooring options? That keel is such a restriction.

I feel the same, it’s so restricting and must be very frustrating for them at times especially in the coral.

5 min of commercial content? Only? Not much "sailing" content anymore? I better head on down to my own ship and do it myself ...

Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the video, we hope however that you can understand that it’s extremely time consuming to make the videos and there is very little remuneration from RU-vid. This company were kind enough to send us this equipment after seeing our free diving mechanic video and we thought it’s such a cool piece of kit - it deserved some effort to help promote and hoped our viewers would find it genuinely interesting

@@SailingNV Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate you get the word out for a superb product you definitively liked, needed and wants others to know about. I also understand 110% that it takes lots of efforts to make even a 10 min video. And I did like the video. My point was: I've watched some sailing (and all sorts of other genre) videos over the yrs, but I've never before seen a single video purely dedicated to promoting a product. That's all. In any case, I truly like and respect what you're doing revitalizing this "old" racer into a cruising performer, and a cool finale would be that you one day hook up with SV Duracell for a gusty sail off ...
