Favorite Makeup for OLIVE SKIN

I now know I am not crazy and imagining things. people keep telling me I am warm because I have zero pink and a lot of yellow. They do not understand why I look Fabulous in Jewel tones but look weird in bubble gum pink

I am olive. I always thought I was neutral, which is right, but neutral foundation are too pink on me. I just recently, bought blue and yellow foundations to mix in with other foundations, so that I can customize. It’s been super helpful.

Back on the '90' there was phase of mauve brown makeup....it was everywhere and I looked fantastic in it. I think I am a pink olive...still dont know. I cantt where warm but the other day I wore deep yellow and a red and a brown eyeshadows and it looked good...got a lot of compliments. Those arent my usual colors. Glad I found these videos.

Yellow kind of skin, ashy in winter, black blue flatters me, metal / silver flatters me as well as gold, normal nude colors for make up wash me out easily..sooo 🤔🤔 Thanks for all the informations!

I am so happy that I found your channel! I've only realized this past year that I have olive skin tones and I kept I was cooler but most other olive skin tones that I see lean warm. I used to never wear foundation because I could not find any that worked well. I'm starting to find some that work for me and also learn what colors that compliment my complexion. I have olive undertone as well, and you basically just listed all my favorite colours 😍 peaches & orange in lipsticks & blushes are my mortal enemy 😂 it just looks horrible. If I step to a makeup counter and I'm being recommended something like that, it's a telltale that that the sales person knows nothing about olive undertone. I'm a bit more yellow leaning (esp. when I tan) and I have more grey/green in my skin, so the kind of lilac/mauve I go for is a tiny bit more pinky/red. Another struggle with olive skin tone I found is working with green/teal/blue eyeshadows. Matte, light electric blues tend to turn teal on me; teals either turn all the way green or blue; and greens when mixed with grey or yellow only appear grey or yellow - the green undertone of the shadow just gets swallowed by my overall face. I couldn't agree more that it's colour theory, but it's not as straight forward, because we're working with human skin, which is a very dynamic canvas, it may have varied colors, different texture & translucency in different areas of the face. P/s I think pinky leaning foundations look bad on olive undertone because pink is basically light red that's neutralized by the green in our skin, so it tends to turn grayish, ashy, mask-like powdery looking. I don't even like to use a yellow leaning foundation any more, because they're more like my highlight shade. If I apply it all over the face, my face looks weirdly bright, warm & lively than the rest of my dull greyish neck & body 😂 I mix a green colour corrector with my foundation to get my perfect shade. I'm ok with my natural grayish green, glass noodle looking skin, and I like being consistent head to toe 😂

Yes! Can you believe I'm 31and just discovering why I can't find a perfect foundation colour?! And it's cuz I'm olive 😅 In case you're still looking for a dupe for Lolita, I think Jouer's lip cream in Terra is pretty close 🌻

i’m olive too but i’m a warmer olive so its the opposite to me, mauve tones (specially lipsticks) usually lean too pink on me, brown (one that doesn’t have a lot of red) looks the best

I am a cool light to medium olive skin toned gal. I look terrible in most pink shades but look awesome in all shades of red. Notice the copper hair color in my profile pic. Red helps to cancel out any green skin tones thus making me appear warmer than I actually am. Neat little trick!

Wow, this was so helpful! I watched your video about how to tell if you have olive undertones because I've been suspecting it, but looking at the colours that you're sharing - those shades are definitely my usual go-to colours, so this makes so much sense. Besides never being able to find *quite* the right foundation colours, I started suspecting I'm olive after realizing that every time a makeup artist has done my makeup (for friends' weddings, for instance), I always think the foundation colour looks horrible, even if my friends think it's fine (one time I actually removed it and reapplied my own!).

A monochromatic reddish mauve look is my favorite kinda makeup look and i am a warmer olive person.

Im a cool olive and Im always searching for mua on youtube with a cool olive undertone, and always end up on this channel! I actually have dark blue hair currently, because blue is one of the most flattering colors for me. For makeup, I agree abaout mauves and neutrals, and I definitely avoid shades that are too dusty/too grayish. I can also get away with berries and rose pinks as well, lilacs, lavenders, and purples are also fantastic! Wish more people with this undertone made makeup content ;-; thanks for your videos!

I always purchased yellow-leaning foundations even though I'm a cool olive. but yellow looks closer than pink so if it's a more sheer formula it usually works. olive foundations are almost always warm olive. the only cool one I've seen is the urban decay CG range which I am excited to try next

5:00 For you to wear pink, you'd need a cool pink, then it would work. You also need to figure out if you are a muted or radiant cool olive.

What is your go to bronzer ? Go to contour? I feel like everything I get ends up being way too orange. The Kat von d contour face palette seems to work… but I don’t align with her stuff always (some of it I love). Too faced original Chocolate bronzer works as a bronzer, but is too warm for a contour. Idk!

I have always struggled with the correct foundation because it seems that my skin pulls different colors depending on what tone of foundation I wear. Its so frustrating

Greek, 5000 makeup pieces and can’t stop using Lolita, wear blue and red a lot, I can’t pull off cool foundation though , but warm shadows and clothes look yuk... I’m trying to minimalize my makeup and I simple can’t get rid of my purples, silver taupes and cranberry eyeshadows... Bc that’s what works-yet I was pushing myself to keep these brown tan shadows I never can pull off. Also-what do you think about Macs club? Only product i ever hit pan on and repurchase repeatedly! Have you tried Zoeva's Cocoa Blend? I am olive leaning warm and this is my favourite "neutral" palette (meaning, it is neutral for me). However, it has two mauve/lilac tones that I cannot really use as they look ashy on me - but they may look great on cool olives! Beside the mauves it has some almost-blacks, different saturations of old gold, brick reddish browns and a warm pink shimmer that just does not class with green (indeed, I often pair it with green shadows and it looks great together).

gold rose earrings look good near my face and white gold looks distinct on my fingers. Golden rings blend with my skin and silver earrings look too prominent near my face. So i mix and match. What does this mean?😂 am i neutral olive?

3 years later and the popular beauty magazines and blogs still say Olive is after medium skin tone. 🙄

There's something really wrong with your cheek color and/or application. It looks way too harsh and kinda rust colored. The blush itself when you swatch it looks fine so maybe you're using some kind of bronzer that is just way too warm for your skin tone or maybe your lighting is too warm. Whatever it is, it is not flattering.

2:40 - 2:57 What you are saying ONLY works for warm olive undertones and "maybe" neutral olives. Cool olive undetone people like me can NOT wear yellow/golden foundations. Cool olive foundations need to actually have a touch of blue in them and LESS yellow. There is a spectrum of olive undertoned people: from fair, light, medium, dark and deep skintone and each of those will be one of warm, neutral, or cool olive undertone. This being said, what you said for your products to work on every body with an olive undertone is incorrect.

Rose gold works best for me as a fair olive 🫒
